Little something i noticed, but don't think it's enough for the hoodu thread?

Melbourne has never defeated North Melbourne at Docklands (Marvel Stadium)

My mind goes to that game in 2000 where the kangaroos kicked 11 goals in the second quarter and won by a point. Powell missed from the square too.
Apart from that game I don’t think we’ve played them there outside of our painfully shit 07-15 era.

Quite right pre 07 we played all games at the mcg there was a game in 05 where Melbourne beat North or the kangaroos as they were in those days (so not technically North melbourne?) At Manuka Oval by 6 goals. Obviously in that 07-15 era everything was a loss but a fair chunk at docklands. Post 15 a few away games at Hobart then covid as well.

I remember a game at Dockland v Roos when I reckon we were about 5-6 goals up early days. Got done still.
Was going to mention this game, was in 2011 we had jumped out of the blocks then completely stopped. I think Jurrah was going nuts. I remember being at my local game and my mate was happy he had tipped the dees. Someone then mentioned that we hadn't beaten them since 06 and of course it went down hill from there or was already in the progress. I remember listening to triple m on my way home and listening to Garry Lyon talking about the turn around in form. So I looked up the game 7 goals to 3 at qrt time ended up in 19 goals to 12 so 16-5 after quarter time.

Michael Newton was dominating that 2011 game then we fell apart halfway through the 2nd quarter.

early days (and will try not to put the moz on us for the season) but being the reigning premier is even better than i thought it would be. the whole "looking down from on high with big dick energy at the cute way the rest of the league scrambles to be better than they were last year to give themselves just a chance of experiencing what we experienced" thing. good vibes all round ey delirious laugh

They put up 120 on us there in 2013. In my top five least favourite matches since 2006, along with 186, 148, the Hawthorn loss in 2015 and the loss to Essendon in 2007 (Daniher’s last game).

Actually, I guess that’s just Dees matches. WCE v Adelaide R23 2017 might take the cake.

What a painfully macabre topic. 186 & 148 were shockers. I remember Ablett Sr going apeshit on us Round 1 96 in a 129 point slaughter. Losing to the Bombers top ups in 2016 and last minute heartbreak against St Kilda in 16 and Geelong at Kardinia in 2018 is also up there. Our own Round 23, 2017 + the two North games & Richmond and Freo in the same year were terrible.

Us losing every game to North from 07 to 17 shows how poor we were for a long time. It wasn’t as though North were an absolute juggernaut at any stage but we were never really close to them until Roos started turning us around from 16ish.

Did anyone other than me notice that in the game against GC we were wearing red and blue striped socks?

Why does Ben Brown need clash socks, look at his hair and pasty skin, can't miss the campaigner.

Remember in 2010 when the umpires decided to wear pink socks the same time Melbourne had them for the women's game. Melbourne streaming forward and then a player handballed straight to the umpire. Might have been James MacDonald.
