I couldn't stand Watts early days but really came to appreciate him in the second half of his career with us. Saw him for his strengths rather than his weaknesses. Best set shot ive ever seen for us, second best field kick behind Tingay.
For me the only memory of Watts will be him icing the Queens Birthday game . His only fault is he didn't live up to what we wanted him to be . That's not his fault .

Gawn is great around the ground , but his tap work to our Mids is not so great . I still can't work out why he taps to the other way , surely punch it our way !
his actual tap work has regressed massively, isn't creative now and either turns it over or keeps it within the inner pack.

Yeah, that moment was epic, never thought he'd miss, couldn't have had it in better hands.

Other bits I remember fondly was his clutch goal to win the game against GC at the G and a stab pass that travelled 40m no more than 2.5 metres off the ground to Tyson late in a win vs Hawthorn

Nah I'll always remember him for his game winning goal on Queens bday

Agree with all this but still completely got why Goody shipped him off

Getting rid of him and Hogan I'd imagine was great culturally. Watts never seemed professional. Hogan never cared.

Especially with Watts, he was a senior player when we had a bunch of youth who needed to learn the right habits. Watts was counter-active to that.

One of my favourite ever moments at the football.

2017 has some of my favourite and least favourite Dees moments ever.

Watts sealer
Tmac kicking 5 including the winner in the most underrated H&A game ever
That Carlton game was fun as hell
A lot of people really started to hate us which was cool too.

Couldn't have had a worse ending to the season though lol

Was looking at season 2017 mainly for the Adelaide game think we kicked 10 unanswered goals or 10 out of 11. Looking over the season completely forgot about the Geelong game 12.17 to 14.2 at 3 q time, lost by 29. Pretty sure they kicked the last two of the 3rd. If Sunday was frustrating that game was the ultimate frustrating game.

Aw yeah how could I forget to mention that Adelaide game, that was probably our best performance of that year. Clarrys pocket goal was gold too

And yep that Geelong game has stuck with me too. add it to the list of why I get mad ptsd every time we play Geelong (thank **** that's turned around)

Yep everyone talks about the Collingwood game which cost us a spot in finals, forgetting the week before we allowed Brisbane to come back from a big lead to only win by a few goals. We also lost to hawthorn, freo and North by less than a kick all teams all bottom teams none travelling well at the time and of course the Geelong game which we ended up losing badly but game should have been over by 3qt. Also Collingwood proved to be a good team who ended up being a kick away from a premiership the next year.

I must admit, I got slightly hard when Dunny ran over to the fence and gave it to the MCC members when the final siren went. What a man.

We also were 20 up at 3qtr time against the Tigers an lost after we were down to 2 on the bench. Watts had to ruck solo
Yeah was frustrating watching that last quarter, we had Petracca at full forward because Tim Smith got injured iirc. At the time I didn't rate Richmond so was a bit annoying that they were so up and about after they over ran us.

Yeah that's right. We were in complete control for 3 qtrs, hindsight though maybe the Tigers were going to over run us anyway. They were pretty good

Cant remember that game for the life of me, might go see if i can find the highlights on YouTube

Wattsy was a true revolutionary before his time.

Traded out for buying bags for the younger players by Goody. Then only a few years later Goody gets on the bags with the players in the 2021 off season and the rest is history - "connection"
Maybe Wattsy guys gear was shit or too inconsistent

So Goody ****ed him off

If he can't be trusted to get good blow, how can he be trusted on a football field?

Yep, even after watching the highlights i cant remember shit from it, got a feeling I might have taken annual leave on the Monday and been on a bender that long weekend with some mates, up all Friday, Saturday and Sunday and passed out by Monday night. :tearsofjoy:
