Getting sick of seeing replays of Nicknat's ruckwork

Mumford is a good scrapper but I seem to recall NicNat smashed one particular centre bounce tap over mumford out of the centre square on the full, and the bounce was an even one. Statistics r so overrated. I enjoy the highlights of nicnat, at least a couple a game. That is probably 50 more higlights a year more than basic good scrapper Mumford. Took a few contested marks today as well. wank on that

Tell you what - I wish Sandi got a free kick like that last centre bounce every time someone jumped into him like that.

Seems NicNat has already become one of Giesch's self confessed pet players that the umps are instructed to pay special attention to. In the derby he was even getting frees for guys 'blocking his run at the ball' when he wasn't even rucking and was just trying to go 3rd man up over the top of Cox and Sandi.
You're talking crap Esti.

He gets a "good" run with the umpires when opponents break the rules to try and curb his influence by illegally blocking his run. Brogan did it for Port and got 6 paid against him. He has won himself a few free kicks with his tackling as well.

That tap down to LeCras was sublime.
Indeed it was pretty amazing.

LeCras just put himself in the right spot and Naitanui delivered.

As for Mumford I think he will be good, possibly great but he hype surrounding NN is not just based on his athletic potential but how well such a supposedly raw young player has done to date.

With Kruiser as one of the best performing 1st/2nd year ruckman I have seen.

Mummy killed NN that game. I think NN had like no touches till After half time.

Overrated, who the hell did Hawthorn have rucking he is an emerging player.

Yes he is only an emerging player.... but by f..... how good will he be when he actually arrives.

Yes the media do go OTT as far a NN goes but I havent seen to many young ruckmen as promising as he is.

Forget about the other facets of his game his ruck work is very impressive and someone such as Darcy would be able to appreciate the maturity in his ruck work that usually takes six or seven years to develope and refine.

You may be getting sick of seeing his replays ....... but the bad news is you had better start getting used to it as I cant see him doing anything but improving. :D

He tried hard but got smashed most of the day.

I think Naitanui is low on endurance and with him getting quite a lot of gametime he struggles to impact throughout the whole game.

Its going to be exciting in 2/3 years when he is at the peak of his physical fitness and strength.

its a shame the rest of the team sucks

How good was that tap to the frenchman at the end of the second quarter :D
Brilliant athleticism and tap work.

Methinks Naitanui would have practised that sort of tap with Yarran a million times. :footy:

I don't know why anyone bar bitter Fremantle supporters would tire of watching Naitanui's development.

More upside than Kreuzer who is a natural endurance player, but not as draw dropping athletic as Naitanui. NN's marking and reading of the play was better today after he took a couple of marks on the lead. And then moved it on instinctively and hit the next player in the chain by foot.

Wouldn't swap Kreuzer for NicNat though.
Mumford will be the better ruck imo, just not as many flashy/wow moments.
Who's Mumford?

Didn't he start a nonsense thread about WC winning the Judd trade?

Mumford would be fourth or even fifth in line at Carlton.

Huh, why would we be jealous or bitter?

The guy is going to be seriously good (and is already pretty good), though I will admit living in Perth you do see/hear rather a lot about him. For example this extract from today's tv guide "Nic Naitanui made a strong start to the season, despite his West Coast Eagles losing their first three games. Can the Eagles recover as they host a battle of the birds against the Hawthorn Hawks at Subiaco?". I think there's too much media focus and pressure on the kid.

Next he'll be getting free kicks for push in the back and high contact as well.

I mean, imagine getting a free kick for something that is against the rules.

You obviously aren't allowed to block a ruckman's run at the ball but since when can't you do it to a ground level player at a stoppage?

Otherwise every single tagger would give away a free kick at every single bounce when they put their body between their man and the ball.

If the end result of his play is just as effective, does it really matter if Mumford isn't producing highlight reel-worthy stuff every week?

ugh if nicnat was white with ginger hair but still played the same nobody would be raving like they do

over rated

I'm not so sure about that. I reckon he does things that are remarkable from time to time which justify the hype. Just that he does make a few mistakes too. He is definitely still a work in progress. I think it is a glass half-full v half-empty situation - is he raw talent untamed, or is he an overrated hack that pulls of a few flukey things. Lock in option A for me.

Jury's out on NicNat...more time to develop before judgments can be made but he seems a bit hot and cold for my liking. i know I know early days but yeah I haven't been that impressed so far.

Tell you what, theres a white ranga debuting for Sydney tomorrow with the same X-factor and athleticism albeit shorter, get back to us after a few games of watch Gary Rohan play to test your theory.
