If WB successfully trade 7 to GWS for 11 + 19 in the hope to still grab Smith at 11 then we need to do a trade with Port to get no.10. Potentially, 12 + future R2 for 10.

We jump in front of Dogs to get Smith, and Port still likely to get the same player they wanted at 10 (probably Hately / Jones / Clark) but have generated a R2 out of nothing.

The difference between Smith or say RCD/Hately/Jones/Butters is massive.

Doesn't mean it doesn't get leaked. At this stage there would probably be 10 people in the know at the club. A mention to GF or mate with "don't tell anyone" and bang it is out.

My ideal tonight would be to trade our pick 12 and next year first with GWS for 9 and 19. Then use 9 on Clark or Hately and 19 on Sturt or O'Halloran.

That would be a super result. In fact can we get you on tonight's panel. Maybe just a late sub after we get someone to slip a 24 hour mickey into T Selwood's coffee.

Interesting Twomey saying if Bulldogs go Caldwell or King the Smith will fall to us a non vic clubs think he's too much of a flight risk.

Massive Hawks fan so can see why.

Channel 7 ran a story on the King twins last night - Max said it would be great to play for St Kilda and while Ben didn't necessarily have a preference at this stage, both agreed that it would the dream to play alongside each other as teammates, one at each end of the ground.

Listening to them, the impression I got wasn't so much of "go home/flight risk" but more of "I want to be my brother's teammate risk" and that even if both stay in Victoria that in the future they'd try to get to the same team

one of clark or hately should get to 12. if we trade for 9 its because Smith Caldwell or King are still there otherwise i dont see the benefit in paying the price to get 9.

GWS wont trade that much for a 2 spot upgrade. 9 and 19 for 7 and 27/32 would be it suits both clubs with bidding.

Wells said it’s very unlikely we’ll be trading 12. It sounded like we’re absolutely no chance of trying to trade up, though a very slim chance of trading down the order if the deal is right.

Yeah I have been doing it in a semi professional capacity for a few years including one with the cats. It is a lot of fun but very very competitive. Looking to move full-time soon in player management soon so maybe I can steer a few of my clients the Cats way!!

I have been a big critic of his but there is absolutely no doubt I would take him with our second pick. That is exactly where potential high risk high reward players are worth a punt.

My ideal scenrario:

Bailey smith drops to 12 and we take him.

We trade a future R2 to get a pick in the mid/late 20s (gold coast, GWS or Adel maybe) and use that for XOH or McHenry

50 - Bailey Williams

51 - M Pickett (Kelly replacement for 2020 onwards).

Brownless with our last (using 5 picks) or rookie brownless if no one takes him.

I'm preparing to be disappointed.

If I knew I could supplement my income satisfactorily I’d be tapping them on the shoulder to see if I could join them! I have this illusion of helping the Cats out as a scout when I retire on a completely pro bono basis!! They would probably say “thanks but we’re ok”!!

Makes sense of Twomey’s remark on Duursma, something about ‘if things fall a certain way’. I wonder if clubs do know what will happen ... just remembering the leaked Reece Conca photo ... or whether there is genuine uncertainty
