Paywalled. What nonsense have they come up with this time?

Wells, Mack & Co would have done all their due diligence regards obtaining his services going forward.
If he is a goer. All good. If not, so be it.
Will be 27 years old at season's first bounce.
I watch with interest. Another Stengle type of success?? Maybe...

Jyhe is as solid and robust as they come. He’s not just an inside mid in the big beast in the modern AFL mode but there has never been a surer thing to play 250 games of AFL. If you’ve watched any of his juniors you would be convinced. We would be lucky to have him. He’s just such a natural born footballer. Smart, tough, professional, ran just outside top 10 for the 2km. Was middle pack for speed which is nothing to sneeze at.

Whether he becomes an absolute elite top 10 player in the comp is another question. For mine I’d be very very happy with him in my side for the next 12-14 years. Unless one of the absolute elite upside kids slid like Wardlaw or Tsatas then lock him him.

Jyhe Clark appears lightly framed and brittle for an inside player

Can he handle the bigger bodies in the AFL and will his body add muscle?

Hes not necessarily huge height or weight wise but he is very tough. Its always hard to project how draftees will go in seniors if they havent played against men but his inside game and body isnt something that worries me with him.

Under achieving?? Achieve what exactly?
A premiership/player?? lol We had plenty of them until this year.
Cash?? He has made plenty.
Polarising bloke? Yes i know.
Yeah you’re right, Jordan DeGoey has got absolute most out of his ability…and yes I am genuinely taking the piss.

Jhye Clark and brittle are not two words that should be paired together.

Aaron Cadman knows he'll be Pick 1, and he still said Ashcroft. This is what Phillipou said - it's not very humble at all and lines up with what draft watchers have said:

“I think I‘d have to say myself, just because I think if you’re not going to back yourself, you probably don’t have the confidence required to play in the league,” he said.

“Whether I think I’m the best right now, I would probably say yes as well. But look at the end of the day, it‘s what clubs need and I might not be the best fit for a club. But if I had Pick 1, I’d definitely be taking myself.”

It's not just that he thinks he's the best, but that he also thinks anyone who doesn't say they're the best in the league, 'doesn't have the confidence to play in the league' - which is just arrogant as f*ck.

I gotta say, you're being pretty dismissive of what people who are actually well-versed on this are saying - by calling it 'gossip' in a derogatory sense, based on just youtube videos and highlight clips, lol. He's also apparently a flight risk, so that's another added element we'll be wary of - given the TK and Clark events in recent years.

As someone who is aware and on the "inside" as you call it. I can assure you that the poster's analysis who showed the YouTube clips is much closer to the truth than yours. That doesn't mean some insiders or even clubs may have been confronted by his confidence but I think that says more about Australia and them than it does about him. If you have seen him play alternate sports with far less talented kids and the empathy and leadership he has shown with them it dispels a lot of what you suggest is wrong with his attitude. Finally he has been asked repeatedly about playing interstate and said he wants to more than stay home so to say he is a flight risk is just plain wrong. Anyway too much certainty about a kids character who you know nothing about is silly I think and that goes for everyone who isn't at the coal face.

There's a real interesting moment in that second video where the young lad @12:26 asks Phillipou "if you could have one player for an hour to pick his brains, and not in a zombie way, who do you choose?"

And the answer is: "Gary Ablett Senior"

And the young lad replies "Oh, not the Junior? The Senior?"

And Phillipou's follow up is "Well I think Junior learnt a lot from his dad so you kind of get the best off both from Senior I reckon"

Now think about that a second:

A cocky young upstart would have said the opposite: "Junior, because he could learn everything off his old man as well as what he learnt from doing it on his own" but he said Senior because he respects the generation above him and believes wisdom is found at it's ultimate source and is passed down generation to generation. I reckon that's a sign of mature young man who can easily be coached.

ps: as to p7/8 I too would be happy for whoever Wells chooses... be it Clark, Busslinger or even Phillipou.

He has a serious chance to be the best player in this draft and the same just can't be said for Clark or Busslinger or any of the others that might be available at our pick

100%. He has the Selwood's about him when it comes to hardness and the ability to sense the moment when his team needs him to go so hard he changes momentum. What he doesn't have is anywhere near the athletic attributes of Selwood. Surefire quality 200 plus games I reckon but for the first pick we have inside 10 in 15 years I would rather chase a player with a higher ceiling!

I think this to and fro between Shadow89 and TheAthlete should finish here.

Both have made notable points, but its drifted now onto personality/character focus rather than sticking to the topic at hand.

I ask that you both agree to disagree ...and focus directly on the football issues rather than each other from here onwards....

Thanks
