2R1's?

A deal like.... three R1's out and two R2's back seems to have worked.

Would we do that again? On form we are talking two picks verging on in the 20's.... with something back.

My preference would be to give them a player and keep the pick but we know that story. Players have traditionally said no. He is contracted.. so we will be the whipping boys to some degree. What is the attraction for GWS. SC relief so the deal is not as important? Or would they want more than a Band two comp. What are they going to get for Taranto?

Key forwards are worth more than mids so i wouldnt pay as much for hopper as jez.
On the future 1st its more my preference yes it can pay off eg holmes but it can also backfire (see coll trading an FR1 as a top 5 pick)..with our ageing list we might drop at some point so id not want to risk trading the FR1. He is worth more than 18 alone though. Id offer say 18 + 36 or 18 + a FR2 (maybe throw in our R3 if we have to) but not 18 + a future 1st. If thats their price id let them keep him or find another club.

They traded some good future pick to get Stocker didn't they? He was playing at the end of the year so surprised he was outright delisted.

Yeah they traded with adelaide for that pick.

they don't have the assets to get both.

They have 12 + 19 + 30 + futures so they do.
The bigger issue is whether they have the cap room for both (if they backend it they probably do).

Don't mind Stocker at all. Tough nuggety back pocket. Would be happy to look at him as a DFA or rookie.

Considering we have no specialist small defender behind bews id consider it.

I think you'll find both us and tigers are really just chasing one player and we're each sounding out back up plans.

Taranto going to tigers and Hopper coming to us sounds like everyone is getting their number 1 preference

Agree i think hopper is our preference and taranto theirs. But they might want both in case cotchin retires and prestias body is stuffed. I think we will get one and them the other.

Richmond's season has only just ended, but the Tigers are poised to be one of the busiest club's this off-season.

Tom Browne has reported on Triple M Footy this afternoon that Richmond could land both Tim Taranto & Jacob Hopper from GWS.

It is rumoured that Taranto could offered as much as a 7-year deal, while Hopper is still firmly on their radar despite strong links to Geelong.

Browne also reported that Trent Cotchin has been offered a one-year deal to play on next year.

Didn't Barrett say Hopper to Geelong was a done deal?

Selwood should retire we will have to many retiring at the end of 2023, we need to win the flag and retire Smith or Touhy or Selwood we need a oldie other than Dahlhaus and higgins to retire

Hardwick meeting with Hopper probably says more about the lack of available talent that will be available this off season, especially if you are looking for plug-and-play midfielders, than it does them suddenly being favourites to get him.

We have been linked to Hopper for awhile, id imagine that is a pretty good sign that we know what it will take to get him over. The issue really is if he is worth it or not.
