Why didn’t he make it at Carlton? Too many other defenders?

They traded some good future pick to get Stocker didn't they? He was playing at the end of the year so surprised he was outright delisted.
Yes, they traded up under SOS to get Stocker. But Stocker was a Inside-Midfielder in his draft year, and they are jam packed now with Inside-Midfielders.

Personally, I don't think he's that great as an Inside-Midfielder, he is decent, but no gun.

I don't think he has a lot of pace, and well, he's average in size - which he might be okay as a small defender, but it's sometimes better to be a bit taller for the added reach in defending - eg spoils and marking. I could be wrong on him.

Having said all that, he did rack up some big games in the VFL, but are they inflated numbers if he is taking the kick-outs from defence?!

Can confirm.

Interesting dimma said they met with hopper today so that would indicate (unless his manager just told him to scope out all available options in case plan b is needed)that he isnt over the line yet.

Lol soldo is another average ruck which they already have like 4 of. Silly ralph.

Gws dont need a ruck unless its a gun ruck and they dont need inside mids.

Hardwick actually seemed confident. Confirmed the meeting and that he’s definitely out of the Giants and coming to Victoria.

He wouldn’t meet in person if he was a lock to the Cats as some have said. I think most (jurnos) assumed the Tigers just couldn’t afford it. I’d say they are quickly firming if the have the cap room.

Well that's annoying that Richmond could be set to hijack our Hopper move. We absolutely need a new mid with Selwood (possibly) going out. If we miss out on all of Taranto, Hopper and De Goey, we're not left with many options.

Not sure how well he actually knows anything about hopper given he thinks he is 'coming home' when hes from NSW (yes im aware he went to boarding school here but he is a riverina kid from NSW and thats where his family is)

As for the rest richmond could create cap room by backending deals post retirements if needed.

It will come down to two things..where does hopper want to play (his call) and also where is gws prepared to release him to. As he is contracted (unlike taranto) its their call and they might not be willing to trade them both to the same club or to trade him anywhere unless the deal is overs. All it really tells us is he wants out but we already knew that anyway.

The rest is speculation.

Theres many options (just not all at the same quality level)..crouch will go, mitchell probably will, dunkley is still unsigned etc. Thats before you look at kids like bruhn who are clearly available. Fwiw i think we will get hopper anyway. But theres lots of midfield options.

Ruck is a bigger worry for me as apart from grundy theres no real A grade rucks likely to be on the trade table.

Id pursue mitchell 100 x times before worpel (not that i want mitchell either but just saying).
He's not the worst out there... I'd have him all day every day over Constable, Narkle, etc. If he was a throw away draft pick, late 3rd rounder or later etc. I would certainly entertain given our list demographics.
