As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

Both. In particular, having Dangerfield basically born with hoops running through his veins was a major bonus.
Semantics I know, but Reid is/was a much bigger Cats supporter than Danger ever was.

Paddy has spoken publicly that while he grew up a Geelong supporter, he wasn't overly invested.

Went to the odd game, but wasn't as emotionally involved as one would think. Certainly not at Hawkins, Selwood, Henry levels.

Moggs creek being situated where it is played a much bigger part than any 'love' for the GFC.

If Collingwood for instance were based in the Geelong region too, then I don't know if those "hoops running through his veins" make much difference.

Reid on the other hand was a genuine nuffie, and is probably closer to what Selwood would have been like growing up as a supporter.

Marrying a local didn’t hurt either.

Joel and Harley speak most weeks. Fact

That news would rule him out regardless. But I fail to see the appeal - he reminds me of Andrew Wills (in more than one way now it seems!) - runs around like a cat on a hot tin roof but does very little.

I'm not ready to give up on him yet, it is easy to see how he can make those mistakes but he is soo close all he has to do is send his "associates" the other teams rooms before the match.

Liam Pickering thinks we are a chance.
This is why I updated my avatar photo. Of course, all speculation as with anything regarding these kind of things but having a young champion like Reid on our list would really hype up the sponsors and community in general.

Reid + Smith would be primetime viewing.

Rhys Stanley and Mitch Duncan to be given another contract for next season. Duncan more so a good will gesture to get him to 300 games per Scott Gullen

So if Rhys Stanley goes around again, does that make us more likely to be chasing TDK as a free agent end of 25?

Would be happy with Rhys for one more. Even if he reverts to his early season form he is still going to better than any state league ruckman and offers insurance if Conway continues to have injury problems.

Duncan was always playing on. He will be managed like Tuohy has been this year.

Geelong is set to hand Patrick Dangerfield the two-year deal he's been chasing.

CATS SET TO BOW TO DANGERFIELD DEMAND
Patrick Dangerfield will secure the two-year deal he wants at season’s end despite the rarity of a 34-year-old winning a multi-year contract.

Dangerfield has been keen to sign a deal of that length but is in no hurry given the priority is his premiership campaign as Geelong captain.

The Cats and his management are happy to wait until the post-season so he can show to the club his body is durable enough for him to win a multi-year deal.

While Dangerfield is not on the lucrative figures that he was when he crossed from Adelaide he is happy to have the security of that two-season contract.

Dangerfield arrived at Geelong happy to take less money than offers in Melbourne and while the Cats eventually traded for him instead of securing him as a free agent it has been a riotously good deal for both parties.

If he decided at the end of next year to retire he might walk away from the 2026 sum but when fully fit Dangerfield still seems at the peak of his powers and in no hurry to call it quits.

Put Simply. He is the best mid we have. Stop mucking around and pay the man.

O’Driscoll re-signing at Freo. Someone mentioned we were going hard to get him.
Guttered!! Hearing he wanted more cash and an extra year.
Not knowing all the ins and outs of it…. Wish we pulled the trigger.
But the club knows better than me.

Kennedy is about as good as Parfitt. Pass
Correct. Carlton were ruthless in letting him explore options.
We kept our polished turd for about 3 years too many.

I met a dude at Uni once who had his cat coming into Uni and just chilling on his shoulders all day. Great cat, funny guy.
Maybe the cat was ahead of its time and identified as a parrot.

You would've got extremely long odds on both Stanley and Bews getting another contract 2 months ago.
I thought Stanley wanted to retire last year and they had to talk him into playing this year- sounds like Conway is not progressing.

The news about the club wanting Mitch to get to 300 and offering to look after him is what sets our club apart and makes it such a desirable place to get to.

The Rhys news is a shock as certain "experts" round here have been adamantly declaring he was no chance at all to go on, but personally he's a great club person and seems to have no ego, does whatever he is asked, roles back to protect the backline.. Sure, tries to run a ruck off their legs.. Sure, goes back to the 2s without complaint or cracking the sads. .. Sure.

Some people will hate it, but he's clearly going on again with the plan to be a lesser and lesser role, so the devil you know isn't always that bad

Surely all this conjecture might change once our season is complete.
Seems bizarre coming out with these comments on the eve of a prelim.

Kingy on K Rock did mention this on Stanley a few weeks ago.. and a fair few were saying that's bull 💩 , as that can't be rite.. As people were saying we had to push Stanley to play this year...

Don't always believe what you read on BigFooty

Surely not - the club will due its due diligence on his injuries and move onto other targets you would think
29yo and averages 13.7 games a season. So on average he misses 2 months of footy a year for a decade.

HARD PASS.

He’s had an outstanding season. No reason he can’t go another couple if those hammies hold up. Even if he paddles the last year he’s deserving of a nice handshake.
Interesting with his hammies. Chapman had hammy issues late in his time here, he also asked for two years more but after just the 8 games in his last season, including sub in finals, was offered just the 1 and left. His 2nd season at Essendon vindicated the clubs decision.

But history somewhat repeating here. Over 30yo with hammy issues seeking 2 years.
Probably a combination of playing 33 (and counting) over the last two years, being club captain, and that we still rely on him as why the outcome for PD is different to what Chapman received.
