Reid is a watch for me this season - you can't rely on rumours but there was enough in the off season to warrant a few questions.
Yesterday he was very poor , wanted to fight rather than play and was allergic to running to cover his opponent.
On the other hand Rowell was electrifying.
It's early and a sample of only one game but we would be wise to see how his season progresses before we decide ( if any) who we target.
Rowell seems like a good team player. He'd instantly make us a real problem for the next few years. Smith, Rowell, Holmes and SDK, we'd be one of the strongest teams across all lines. The price tag for Reid is ridiculous. He doesn't strike me as a Geelong type move we tend to buy discount players, or high quality known players, even if he came for unders it would still be overs.

If we look to bring in a proven clearance mid then Rowell , LDU and Butters definitely appeal.
They are all accumulators who rack up large numbers over the course of the game.
Reid is only a kid and given time may be a four quarter player but he's not there yet , time will tell.

TBH I'm pretty ok with not chasing Reid, at this stage.

~$20mil (2mil x 10 years), which is probably what it would take to get him, is a lot of money for someone who is still mainly a 'potential' rather than 'output' proposition.

Let's all the other clubs throw the kitchen sink while we pick up the other blue chip midfielders available

The Herald Sun is running an article saying we may be interested in JUH, like pretty much every other club - but I took the following as the important info from the article:

The Herald Sun can reveal premiership matchwinner Cameron, 31, will soon be tied away for two more full seasons after productive recent discussions.

Cameron signed a five-year deal worth $5 million to cross from Greater Western Sydney at the end of 2020 and is officially in the final year of that deal.

But a games-based trigger has already been reached, giving him security through to the end of 2026.

The club has recently negotiated a deal with his management to add an additional season which will see Cameron playing as a 34-year-old in 2027.

Here…. we…. go……. I think the last line posted below resonates …. If the dogs are to trade him… we would be seen as less favourable

AFL trade news: Geelong interested in Jamarra Ugle-Hagan

After snaring Bailey Smith last trade period, Geelong could be at the front of the queue to snare Bulldog Jamarra Ugle-Hagan should he leave the kennel come season’s end…..

Geelong is one of a group of potential suitors for former South Warrnambool product Jamarra Ugle-Hagan even as the Cats lock away star Jeremy Cameron until 2027.

...

Nearly every AFL club would likely chase Ugle-Hagan if he was on the open market but he remains contracted to the end of 2026.

It will not stop clubs like Geelong from monitoring his season and registering interest if he decides to move on.

Ugle-Hagan has a friendship with new Western Bulldogs star Bailey Smith, who has escaped the fishbowl of Melbourne after his own personal issues and has bought a property with some acreage out of Geelong.

Ugle-Hagan grew up on the Framlingham Aboriginal reserve about 20km from Warrnambool and played for South Warrnambool football club before being secured as the No. 1 overall pick as an Academy player for the Western Bulldogs.

Framlingham is only two hours from Geelong and even less from the area west of Geelong where many players have set up farms and houses.

But while many clubs will be in pursuit striking a deal with the Dogs would be especially problematic given the Cats were seen to have won in their trade for Smith.

My understanding Geelong were keen on JUH last year but not sure now.

Also heard we are asking the question about T Kelly. My source for this one isn't as solid but he is adamant.

I totally believe the TK us asking us the question but Caitlin would say no in about 2 seconds so it's irrelevant.

Reid is a generational talent. But you would want to make sure his attitude is right given how high the price will be.

It's exciting to think we could drive the dogs fans absolutely nuts with this, but honestly liked the only link to us is geography

This time last year the clear frontrunner for bailey smith was apparebtky Collingwood because their players were told not to post on social media with him

Then it was Hawks because he was a Hawks fan

You would and we would but TK would not enjoy getting divorced.
Things can change alot as kids get older. Levels of dependence can change, the wife's confidence in handling situations can change, figuring our what kind of help works and where to get it can change.

Maybe she can't leave Perth, but maybe she can

My preferred position is to target out of contract players because as we saw with Oliver..you can go almost all the way but not quite score a home run when they do not like the deal… Just like with Smith maybe we keep him on speed dial and see what happens. Honestly think this probably goes nowhere while the Dogs have a choice..
