Worpel's a list clogger.
We already had Jon Simpkin play that role.

Geelong is building an elite midfield and we've already got it started with the addition of Smith.

'Said' player has not yet been charged so writing him off is a tad premature.
He's scheduled to be in court on two seperate occasions. He's been charged, he hasn't been proven guilty.

I'd suggest it's highly unlikely he's playing in season 2025, and depending on the result, ever again.

As for Worpel, comparing him to Simpkin is laugh worthy. He's not a star, but he's a quality contested midfielder.

Didn't even say we should be going for him, just that the club may look at him as a cheaper option if they can't land the bigger names.

Said player has been charged. He just hasn't been convicted.

If all that is true, it's certainly news to me.
Damming to be honest.
Certainly won't feel sorry for the guy at all if he's got what is coming his way.

I just think Worpel is not what we need. Geelong have already had these type of players the past 5-7 years. It's time to go for genuine class before Tasmania enter the frame.

The two people have been charged. One is suspected to be.

So yes, the club would be positioning itself at this point in time, where you’d think they are making tabs on mids they can go after as even if there’s no guilt at the end of a court case, it is a very tarred brush.

3-4 years ago and I'm with you, but he's improved his game considerably since then.

Mitchell has coached him brilliantly. Disposal has improved, as has his burst from stoppage and ability in tight to get the ball out to Newcombe, Day, and D'Ambrosio.

Anyway, it's just an idea that I'd expect the club would be considering if they can't land Butters, Rowell, or LDU (or at a ridiculous stretch, Reid).

They don't sit on their hands these days, and as you say, we're not far off from having that elite midfield once again.

We could have got a similar player in Jack Macrae for cheap last year.
I wouldn't say Macrae and Worpel are the same player, Worpel goes longer and more direct but averages less possessions than Macrae.

Macrae is a ball accumulator though and hopefully we have one of those now in Smith, and hopefully Holmes starts getting up there too.

Worpel would be a like for like if a certain someone is found guilty.

Lol it might open up a list spot for the MSD...

I’d expect they are making plans for the trade period as this court process will take time.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't want JUH

1. He's in contract, we pretty much never go for people in contract.

2. Doggies will still be pissed about Smith so they'll demand the World for him

3. It doesn't address a weakness, we are stacked up forward...we need BALL WINNING MIDFIELDERS.
We can address Key Forward down the line when Jez starts slowing down. It's not a right now problem, forward line is our strongest position.

If I'm paying up 1st Rounders...it's for two guys Rowell and/or Butters

Also if I'm paying up, i want a consistent proven star. The above two are that. JUH to me is way too inconsistent for the price they'll ask. I'd rather go after Cadman down the line. He and Jez seem pretty close and Jez can convince him of the pros of joining the Cats.

Harley Reid is a pipe dream, he'll cost way too much so won't even entertain that.

I'm not a list manager but i know if i was in charge who i'd want.

1A) Rowell

1B) Butters

Imagine a starting midfield delivering this to our forward line.

Ruck: SDK
Rover: Max Holmes
Ruck Rover: Bailey Smith
Centreman: Matt Rowell/Zak Butters

I tend to agree , I’m not sure where JUH plays as talented as he is in our forward line

Maybe as I mentioned before the club see him as a possible midfielder but he doesn’t have the fitness for that role

I guess you don’t knock back that sort of talent if it’s available…I just don’t see how or who loves around to fit him in the forward line

Worpel is much better than that guy.

That guy is borderline not even best 22 with Knevitt going ok and Smith added into the midfield.

I reckon Ugle-Hagan would be the most talented young player Geelong would have brought in if it did eventuate. He's prodigious.
Arguably as brilliant as a very young Patrick Dangerfield at Adelaide.

Neale, Ugle-Hagan, Henry, Miers, Stengle, Dempsey . . . lol, shit' that would be seriously brilliant. All have unique athletic traits. Not one dimensional like we see in Sydney's current forward line.

I dunno, I'm kind of changing my tune on Worpel last 2 years
