So what is it?

Did one club actually pull away at the last minute?

Or did the media just make up a bunch of garbage and jump to conclusions?
I'd say your 2nd point is far more likely

I just looked on the Carlton Board ... it's another level of crazy.

One poster was worried that Gibbs might play over 100 games for the Crows and therefore we would have a chance of getting Bryce's kids via father / son.

Now that is forward thinking.

Given that we should have had Bryce as F/S in the first place they can GAGF

Standard sos, call us make us think we are getting a good deal because they called us. Then cancel the deal after we were all keen, only to have us crawl back to him.

About everyone including the journo's:

All clubs
A player is eligible if his father played 100 or more senior games for the clubs. In the cases of the two interstate clubs with historic links to Victorian Football League teams, namely the Brisbane Lions and the Sydney Swans, the sons of players who appeared 100 times for their Victorian predecessors: the Fitzroy Lions in the case of the Brisbane Lions; and the South Melbourne Football Club in the case of the Sydney Swans.[10]

That’s exactly what he’d do. Get us to agree then try and sweeten the pot for those flogs afterwards. Tell them to GAGF.

It would be ironic if we did get Gibbs and he only played 90-odd games for us.

The Herald Sun understands that Carlton was set to send its superstar midfielder as well as its 2018 second-round selection to the Crows.

In return the Blues would net pick No.10 and Adelaide’s 2018 first-round selection.

The Blues also believed Adelaide’s 2018 second-round selection would be sent back. Adelaide did not believe that formed part of the deal.

For those that can't get past the Herald Sun pay wall.
