The claims here boil down to the club having a mission, needing transparency, needing to set a good example, and they bottled it, shooting the messenger.

Posters here saying "all fine if it doesn't affect work". It affected work. "Oh no I meant as long as it went well after the times we know about where it affected his work."

That's OK. Apart from a hospital visit for a heart condition and a s*icide attempt it all worked out fine.

Ehh I find Bartlett's claims about suicide and medical issues pretty weird and very vague. Specifically with the heart issues, he goes to hospital after finding out he wasn't invited to a function and essentially claims that Roffey was trying to kill him by doing a few interviews in the lead up the Grand Final. To me that's a long bow to draw.

From reading stuff, unless there's stuff being kept vague so it only comes out in court my read on the situation is Goodwin was possibly a bit of a campaigner to Bartlett, and Goodwin subsequently getting all the adulation of winning a flag has really gotten to him. Like your school bully winning the lottery or something.

I agree in theory, but also think it's reasonable in the case. Bartlett, whatever otherwise reasonable claims he may have, is clearly bitter as anything about being removed and not being given the ultimate credit for the Premiership. In doing this two year collaboration with Mick Warner, drip feeding information to coincide with the beginning of the season twice and the finals series once, he is sabotaging the club he claims he cares about. Whatever issues he has with Roffey and Goodwin, the way he's doing what he's doing just punishes the supporters and destabilises the club's ambitions. He could easily have taken this to court without having a HS journalist on retainer.

Isn't Goodwin the notoriously loose unit? Although I don't think the things he's generally accused of doing are really anyone's business but his own unless they have negatively impaired his judgement in a provable way.

In 2021 Melbourne Demons won their first flag in almost six decades, and consequently the club, it's culture, and their performance was comprehensively dissected and discussed in the media. Winning the premiership resulted in a tonne of documentation on our environment: player interviews, a book from Max Gawn, videos from the AFL, countless articles in the newspapers etc.

It's patently obvious that Bartlett's assessment of our head coach and our environment was way off track.
