Vintage Bay Go ahead and kick a bag on Ryan Schoenmakers

One thing you can certainly take out of NAB Cup matches is the performance of your recent draftees.

Schoen was very impressive last night, delivering cooly out of defence and effecting plenty of well-executed spoils.

The premier young defender in the comp. :thumbsu:

Played on a number of forwards throughout the night. Seemed to win every contest he was in.

I take it he didn't find his way to Hall? I didn't watch the game, only saw Hall bagged 6 in 3 quarters on Gibson?

I understand it's only pre-season and testing out Gibson's abilities is fine, but surely if Ryan is your next FB of the decade he would have got a shot on a bloke dominating the forward line?

Gibo>>>>Schoenmakers

Ouch....

Seems to me nobody has played on Schoenmakers...therefore nobody has kicked a bag on him. I think that's a good summary of your year-long rave!

Shoey = best FB/CHB of all time.

Man, it's hard to argue with that!

you've done it again, Podgey...somehow...

By that logic Gilham would've played also. It is about testing and trying new things, and Schoen played on a variety of opponents, beating them all and excelling in general play.

That's it.

In Hodgepodge's world, each of us are fullback of the century as none of us has ever had a goal kicked on us in an AFL game (I assume).

I think we can actually credit Shoen with scoring a goal as well, as his handball to Barry was precision stuff.

Well, as precise as the pass that landed in Murphy's arms.:mad::mad::mad:

I know it wasn't Schoey who kicked it.

Schoenmakers has conceded very few games per games played.

You can't divide goals by zero games played so you and your 'would-if-we-could' mates don't enter into it.

I assume you mean "goals per games played". Wonder why?

And the games he's played in defence he's been very good. Kept Kositchke, Travis Cloke, and Lloyd goalless in his first season.

Last night was another outstanding performance by the young forward-cum defender (no cum jokes please).

It's good to see that even our defence has a silver lining. With the return of Gilham and Guerra and less experimenting with Gibson, it will be a solid back six once again :thumbsu:

Gilham was on Hentschel - Schoey was dropping back to help out in this photo:footy:

In my recollection Schoenmakers wasn't playing on Hentschel that night. I'm not going to induldge every troll who comes along and tells me he knows better. I actually attended the game as I barrack for the Hawks.

So what I take from this thread is either:

Both the above quotes are wrong and Cloggenmakers had 4 kicked on him by a guy who hadn't played in about a thousand years.

OR

Both the above quotes are right and Gilham (whose absence was 50% of the reason the Hawks were spanked last night) had 4 kicked on him by a guy who hadn't played for about a millennium.

I think I'm gonna drop the clogs and rename myself Schoenwearer.

Most of that didn't make any sense, therefore I'll assume it was a long-winded setup for the clog/shoe makers joke?

Nice payoff.

Trent Hentschel, back from a significant layoff, kicked 4 against one of your guys that night. I'll let you choose the victim.

The joke was just an aside.

At least he doesn't have a username on the premise that a junktime specialist who only kicks his goals from runaround snaps and always goes missing when the heat is on, is somehow comparable to the greatest goal sneak in modern history. :thumbsu:

Keep dreaming, Hawthorn's defense is in trouble and you know it.
