Goal Umpire has done his knee

Poor bloke, would never wish an ACL tear on anyone. What bothers me the most is how little of a sh*t Picken gave to someone he injured - at least check if the guy is alright!
Picken was just focused on the game, as he should be. There's an article on the AFL site, he didn't know the guy was injured.

To be fair, up to $60,000 is including 4 finals.
SA/WA/QLD umpires would be on about $20,000
NSW/VIC goal umps would be on about $30,000
Then the pay scale in finals goes up and the 2 that do the GF would very easily manage another $30,000 throughout finals.

ps - That's not an indication on NSW and VIC goal umps being better. It's more the fact there's a lack of umps in NSW so they get more games than SA/WA/QLD, while there's that many games in Vic that umpires there can get 5-6 more games a year than SA/WA/QLD umps.

Gotta laugh at people talking about Picken being suspended
Yep, having checked the tribunal.
Negligent contact with an umpire, 1st offence: $1200 ($900 with early guilty plea)

But if Steven King can get away with making reckless contact with an umpire ( ) Then Picken should be in the clear.

If Picken even gets a fine it's a disgrace

In that paragraph, I wrote the words, "I'm deadly serious" and you wonder if I'm kidding...

And you called ME a clown?!?! At least I can read.
One of us has a red nose and a spinning bow tie, but it ain't me.

You'll notice I also wished the poor guy a speedy recovery.
You probably failed to read that bit as well...:thumbsu:

Stopped reading two lines in honestly

LARS surgery, back in time for finals.

Steve McLaren now runs a pharmacy on riversdale road.

mum used to work with one that was a high school science teacher, I say was because he got fired for having an affair with a student.

but I digress.

Feel a bit sorry for the bloke, they should let him umpire from a wheelchair after the surgery

He wasn't a science teacher, he was my business management teacher :p I was in his class the year he went on the footy show for his 300 games or something lol.

Got the ass a couple of years after i left, never had an affair AFAIK but had always given his mobile out to students (male and female) which is pretty inappropriate anyway

never been massive on facts

nah it was basically just what i'd gleaned over the journey, it's not something i've actively brought up as dinner table conversation or anything.

Was mainly to prove that they're not all lawyers or doctors that are loaded as hell.

I think Chelsea Roffey does small time journalism or something of that nature.

This is what is wrong with this country when a doctor is taking a job from another potential blind maggot who could be earning 60 large for ****ing up decisions left, right and centre and relying on a video ref who also can't call it a point when the ball hits the post.

Get the **** back to your shitty practice and let some drop kick get paid a lot of money for being incompetent.

Have a look at the way the goal umpire is standing as he gets hit....

Chin pointing to 11 o'clock, his chest puffed out, arms rigid by his sides, knees bent and his legs more than one metre apart. If he just acted normal and did his job properly instead of trying so hard to *look* like Mr Goal Umpire then I doubt his injury would've been so severe. I'm deadly serious. There is no need for goal umpires to plant their feet like that and be so rigid. Jeff Gieschen has blood on his hands.

I've been bagging the goal umps for years for using this show-pony stance and now someone's been seriously hurt. WAKE UP!!!

Shame on people even mentioning Picken's name. He is just trying to play the game, for God's sake! It's not his fault the damn umpire gets in the road.

Hopefully the ump makes a speedy recovery with the Lars technique and gets back on the field within 3 months, although they'll probably just use him as the Replay Umpire upstairs.
This has to be a injury troll or do they only apply to players?
