Based on 3 quarters so far, Moyle, Davies and Burgess deserve to play in Tasmania next week. Watch out AFL line-up :) Harwick is watching. Oh no, Harwick will be attending Tigers game.

Bloody hell, Hollands is frustrating. Is Sharp still playing? I can't notice him.

So we've got the VFL minor premiership in the bag now, yeah?

We have 16% over Werribee, who play Swans on Sunday.

Wonder how much longer the other AFL /VFL clubs will put up with thumpings like this before demanding our list size is reduced….

A good point. But then we probably sign some mature players for VFL only like Lions do.

Some of that ball movement through the corridor is good
In fairness, if I was Carlton after that second quarter, I’d just be planning my night out in Surfers…

Surely a lot of teams are looking at players we have running around though, many still un-contracted. Could see a couple going for 4th rounders (like Corbett before them). Especially since we have the two leading goal kickers just sitting there.

Others, like Tsitas, Ace etc., could be VFL only, if they were happy with that. Depends how much they like their life on the coast.

Otherwise keep academy players that haven’t quite made it at age 18, but may be able to develop with an extra few years. Eckersley etc.. would love for guys like that to stay on as VFL recruits.

Agree, Marlin Corbett, Campbell Lake and Eckers are still playing local. Cody Harrington as well. Be interesting to see if any of them put up their hands as a mature ager in a year or so. Will Graham if he doesn't get picked up would be another to keep an eye on.

So we are either playing Willy or the Lions in the Qualifying Final.

Other QF would be Werribee v Box Hill so most likely would play one of those teams in the PF if we won our QF.

Williamstown - if Williamstown win or if Brisbane lose
Brisbane - if Brisbane win AND Williamstown lose

What’s the eligibility criteria for VFL finals.

Are guys like hollands, fiorini, farrar who have been in and out have enough games under their belt?

Surely the Club would be aware of it. Could be why we drop some players and elevate others for last few games.

Fiorini is probably too many games. Hollands should be ok, maybe Farrar. Sub obviously counts as a game, so I’m not sure how often they were suns too.

Brisbane got the win so we're facing the Lions in the qualifying final. That guarantees there will be a VFL finals match in Queensland in every week of the finals series (just like last year). Hopefully we beat the Lions and then they go all the way on the other side of the draw so we can face them in the VFL GF in Queensland. That GF would be on their home training ground but it would be nice to not have to travel again on our way to our first VFL flag!

Williamstown are 47 points down at half time. Hoping they get up because if they do it will mean we need to face a team travelling to Queensland instead of driving down the highway!

The flip side of it is Brisbane finishing fourth drastically increases our chances of playing the Grand Final in Queensland. Would you rather face a Victorian team in Queensland in round 1 of the finals or a Victorian team in Victoria in the Grand Final? I'm thinking big picture so I want a Grand Final in Queensland.

There is probably a bit of bias in my response as I am Victorian however I would rather play a Victorian team at Ikon Park (NOT THEIR HOME GROUND) instead of playing at Brighton Homes Arena against Brisbane on their home ground.

Fair enough. I think from a club point of view they would prefer to not leave Queensland if possible. Particularly if the team they play in the grand final is Victorian. 8 of the 10 teams competing in the VFL finals series this year are based in Melbourne and I'm sure they'd all rather play a grand final at Ikon Park (even if they haven't played there much in the past) than any other interstate venue. This shouldn't even be a discussion anyway because as the minor premiers we should have home advantage the whole way through the finals series if we keep winning.

Sleeper for the Academy overagers is Dawson. Only given one chance at VFL level this year, due to the number of talls in the team. He has racked up 3 BOG’s for Broadbeach and a rising star nomination in his first 10 games of QAFL seniors.

Corbett and Harrington seem to have been forgotten also, after a few VFL games earlier in the season.

Unfortunate for these guys, as they missed all of their U16 and U17 rep seasons due to COVID.

Confirmed - we are minor premiers and will play Brisbane in the Qualifying Final. Congratulations to Josh Drummond, Rhyce Shaw and the whole team on a great season. A few slip ups against Werribee and Essendon (only minus 3 points combined) but none the else a great season and they were probably losses we had to have leading into finals. Well done to our joint Frosty Miller medalists!

After Preliminary Final heartbreak last year to Southport, this is our chance of glory. Enjoy the ride guys and gals... we are here for the flag and nothing else!

Are our academy players (Rogers, Read or Walter) allowed to compete in the VFL Finals or have they not played enough games to qualify?
