Review Good, Acceptable, and Putrid vs Kitty Kats

We've lost two games now because our forward line entries and structures are entirely inept.

We seemed to spend the entire second quarter tonight actually setting in the hope that we would execute a plan based around isolating Josh Jenkins as a contested marking forward.

That we've ended up in this position says everything about our club.

Bartel is a genuine idiot.
Did anybody hear him talking up the Crows just now as "... still a Top 4 side" and saying we should be favourites to win our next 5 games?
That'd make us 6-2.
I can't see it. I want to, but I just can't.

Most of it has been covered already, but I'll just add this little cherry to finish the game off.

When seed was down with his knee, a stretcher was called asap and the adelaide trainers attempted to stop the game.

Yet play continued.

And continued

And continued

Until after what felt a good 5 minutes of active game play, Brad Crouch tries to move the ball forward, sees the mess ahead, slows down, gets caught, and The negligent ******* umpires call holding the ball before lifting their eyes and stopping play.

That was absolute negligence on behalf of every umpire on the ground. The crowd were literally SCREAMING at them to look and stop play, to a point it ridiculous that everyone else could see but them.

Had that been a more serious injury, that could have serious ramifications in getting medical aid and or pain relief to the player.

Not good enough at all.

Aren’t the umps miked up? Why can’t they be told to stop play?

I thought his best moment was when he was in a marking contest with Stanley. Instead of conceding the mark and standing the mark to stop the quick play on, he ran hard under the ball so that Stanley could turn and run the ball down the wing which ended in that Ablett goal in the last. Brilliant dmac.
That play lost the game. We were 3pts down and all the momentum. Then the cats kicked 4 in 5 mins

Good:
Sloane
Keath tried
Kelly (Tim)
Gryan
It's only round 3.

Bad:
What does Gibbs actually do? Invisible since arriving at AFC.
Mackay played a Mackay game. But he runs fast pykey so keep him in til 2027.
Jenkins played a Jenkins game.
Hartigan played a Hartigan game.
Betts is cooked.
Laird - whats going on? 3 games of meh
Smiths kicking will never be the same.

Ugly:
Parfitt is still a filthy diver and seems to be moulding his career on Joel Selwood despite being 2% the player Joel is. What a little flog.
The blues supporters were actually clueless thinking this bloke was genuinely worth 2 first rounders. They just loved anyone who could get their hands on the ball, never mind what you actually do with the f***** ball

Despite the denialism of our fan base at broad, and on this board, we're in the nightmare zone. We're on pace to do worse than last year.

We're not genuine contenders, and there's no sensible reason to think that we're getting closer to being. Indeed, our club's actions at every step push us further away from anything that could give hope for improvement (we've doubled down on playing over the hill players whilst sitting our talent in the SANFL).

This might genuinely be the worst position we've been in as a club, ever. We've been bad before, but I'm not sure that we didnt have a better collection of young talent in the wings

I was angry during the game ... But resigned to another non-premiership season with a few minutes to go.

We could turn it around with youth ... But we won't.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason we are scared to play the talent over experience. Playing old guys has never worked for us in the past - quite the opposite.

Sadly we need a full clean out of the selectors and old school match day coaches.

Again, I don't see that happening.

Yep cleaning out the dead wood was the catalyst to winning 97/98

You think pyke is happy working with all those assistants and Burton etc?
Pykes one request was he wanted sumich, was told no by the board, end of story.

It that's true, Pyke is pissweak and he will deserve the inevitable sacking he will get in a couple of years.

If he wanted Sumich and was over ruled by the board he should of walked, stupid man caving in and keeping campo and clarke. Will cost him his job anyway and will have a tarnished reputation.

The AFL has always been pathetic at protecting injured players. We've seen people go down clearly concussed and just lay there until play stops. One day an injured player is going to get caught up and possibly further injured in play and it'll be "Well, who could've seen that coming."

It's just looking like they're not playing as a team and it's super evident with how we move the ball from the back half. Guy in the square handballs it, does he run on to provide a shepard for his teammate to give him time to make a decision and dispose of it? Nope, my job is done, I'll just watch this Geelong bloke run through and tackle my teammate. We start those handball chains, do I keep running to provide another outlet for my teammate? Nope, my job is done, I'll just watch my teammate at the 50 m line get a stationary handball receive with no one close to give it too so he just has to slam it forward where it goes straight to the spare defender.

Agree with this. Pyke is independently wealthy. He doesn’t need the work. If he is getting hobbled like that he should have walked.

Went exactly how it was always going to go. Tex is a disgrace.
Tex was repeatedly being blocked from competing, particularly in the first half. I doubt a lot of the blocks could've been seen on the broadcast.

The ball movement coming into the forwards was often atrocious. Geelong largely played in front al night, across the ground. It often seemed that both in the forward and defensive 50's Geelong were able to move our players off of the ball or out of position far too easily

Gonna let you all analyse away, vent, rant and discuss.
Not here to talk about the game or cause angst.

Just hoping that Seedsman's injury isn't what we all fear it might be, and what the Crows suspect it is. Here's to a speedy and full recovery.
I think all football fans despite one eyed tribalisms agree that serious injuries are just horrible.

Best of luck for the rest of the season.

100% agree with this.

Could not fathom that the umpires were content to let the game go on and kept blowing the whistle and paying a mark when they could of stopped the game, called time-on and allowed the medicos to attend to Seedsman.
The umpire on hand saw this incident with Seed clearly distressed on the ground... then just ran away.

The umpiring was deplorable tonight, but a lack of duty of care.. when a trainer has both hands up screaming for play fo stop for a stretcher for a few minutes is far worse than poor free kicks.

Shoukd be dropped as completely unacceptable.

Interestingly, he played his best football when both Crouch were injured at the start of the last season in the midfield. But since both Crouch aren't injured, strangely it seems he can't take advantage of playing against a lesser opposition on him.

Deplorable effort on your home ground.

Thank god Brad Crouch is back in the side.

If you are going to kick across the ground do it quickly and for god's sake hit a ****ing target.

And **** off Jenkins - that effort in the second quarter was deplorable. You don't take marks from being behind you opponent. And take Ben Hart with you - hh has no idea.

That was just such a perfect moment. "Oh it's Dmac, he can't outmark or spoil Stanley so surely he'll just hold him up on the ma.... aaaaand he's run straight past him."

Sorry to intrude but Gibbs ball use was once really good but it has been average at best for 3-4 years now for whatever reason. He’s basically unplayable if he keeps producing what he has so far this season
