Reality was Lever was going to the highest bidder, 800K for a floating tall with a bung knee.... no thanks.

Regardless, it's symptomatic of the idiotic decisions the club makes. "Oh lets get rid of Lever, so that we can keep Gov". 12 months later, he is running around at another club.

My perception and some of the supporter bases perception, is the club continues to make idiotic decisions and it has been since they traded for Carey in 2002.

You think pyke is happy working with all those assistants and Burton etc?
Pykes one request was he wanted sumich, was told no by the board, end of story.

If he needs an established assistant to make himself look good then maybe he isn’t the right choice. In hindsight that request may say more about Pyke than the board.

We're about giving players long lasting careers, not premierships.

When you have this type of behaviour from the administration and coaching staff we have the uninspiring and safe football that will do just enough to beat average teams and jobs to be spared, but be embarrassed by the serious contenders.

I actually don't think the problem is so much the squad itself, but the culture we have embedded.

Most of it has been covered already, but I'll just add this little cherry to finish the game off.

When seed was down with his knee, a stretcher was called asap and the adelaide trainers attempted to stop the game.

Yet play continued.

And continued

And continued

Until after what felt a good 5 minutes of active game play, Brad Crouch tries to move the ball forward, sees the mess ahead, slows down, gets caught, and The negligent ****ing umpires call holding the ball before lifting their eyes and stopping play.

That was absolute negligence on behalf of every umpire on the ground. The crowd were literally SCREAMING at them to look and stop play, to a point it ridiculous that everyone else could see but them.

Had that been a more serious injury, that could have serious ramifications in getting medical aid and or pain relief to the player.

Not good enough at all.

Love that we get Power and Carlton posters jumping in with trolls after a bad loss. Somehow reminds me to not get too worried ... It could be worse.

Think Carlton will give us a top 4 pick at least. Trading in Gibbs was horrible although we didnt give up as much as people say, it was pretty much pick 10 and early second round upgrade to a late first. Keep in mind we've probably just played a top 2-3 team and our bogey team, we'll win enough to win the recent deal.

Coaching systems are about more than one bloke. If the head coach wants someone he should be able to get them.

The Bad -

I don't feel too upset
I was angry during the game ... But resigned to another non-premiership season with a few minutes to go.

We could turn it around with youth ... But we won't.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason we are scared to play the talent over experience. Playing old guys has never worked for us in the past - quite the opposite.

Sadly we need a full clean out of the selectors and old school match day coaches.

Again, I don't see that happening.

Nailed it. We're absolutely scarred.

I feel like shaking them and saying, Guys, wake TF up. The worst has already happened. You don't need to be scared of it anymore. It already ******* happened. You have nothing left to lose.
Looming as our 2007

It's actually the folding in 5 minutes that is a huge worry, they kicked 4 goals in that period without us giving a yelp.

We had two missile kicks in the team being Smith and Seedsman -given the new rules why the fk wouldn't they be taking the kick ins and hitting the foward 50?

Because our coaching staff are clueless morons.

All off season to refine our kickins with the new rules and we are even more conservative than last season.

How many times did we hit the post?

As bad as our forward play was we had about five chances on goal in that quarter that ended in points and one rank out on the full.

In a tight game against a genuine contender shit like that is expensive.

We should have been 3 goals up mid way through the last. Choked

Good:
So much misfiring and yet average of only one goal per quarter deficit against a very good side in scintillating form. It was a shitful night but we managed to put ourselves in a winning position. A tiny bit of luck and we might have stolen it.

Crows actually had some fantastic passages of play, ruined by the last kick. All is not lost.

Bad
Gifting Geelong their first 3 goals.

The umpire taking an age before bouncing the ball after a goal. Simply off-putting and stalled momentum for both teams.

If a player takes a step and baulks after taking a mark, 50m should never be paid against the guy standing the mark if he reacts to the baulk. **** off umpire you twatt.

The ugly
Seed’s injury.

The ‘we’re/he’s cooked’ brigade.

O'Brien

10 hitouts to advantage from 71 ruck contests, a HTA rate of 14.1% compared to Jacobs' 13.2% in his game. For reference that's higher than Brodie Grundy.

9 effective disposals compared to Jacobs' average of 5.5. 3 marks and 3 tackles is the same total as Jacobs in two games. Equivalent meters gained. 1 turnover versus Jacobs' 3 for the season. Same score involvements.

Surprisingly, O'Brien has already had more effective kicks than Jacobs this season.

Not a bad start for a bloke that was apparently getting "smashed" according to some in the game day thread

Stanley had 10 HTA from 64 ruck contests and Ratugolea had 3 from 10.

I thought his best moment was when he was in a marking contest with Stanley. Instead of conceding the mark and standing the mark to stop the quick play on, he ran hard under the ball so that Stanley could turn and run the ball down the wing which ended in that Ablett goal in the last. Brilliant dmac.
Not even close for me, that effort where he jumped to avoid contact and then put one hand up at the ball and got no where near it was beyond pathetic. If I was coaching div. 3 ammos I would drop a guy for that. But he's now locked in to the side with Seed now gone. We're screwed.

Yeah Mackay was the sole reason we lost tonight. How about you message Pyke to let him know this earth shattering fact because it will obviously lead to a run of 19 successive wins and a minor premiership.

100% agree with this.

Could not fathom that the umpires were content to let the game go on and kept blowing the whistle and paying a mark when they could of stopped the game, called time-on and allowed the medicos to attend to Seedsman.
