Except we already have half a team of kids who are barely doing anything, and are getting encouragement awards from desperate fans.

The kids are getting more looks at it from Nicks, and they're not ready to influence the game yet. Putting more kids in there is more players not influencing the game.

sh*t, maybe it advances them, but we'd have to be prepared for MASSIVE thrashings.

And we have seniors who aren't doing anything. Having Matt Crouch in our lineup is making us much more susceptible to that thrashing because outside of cheap accumulation, he is offering nothing. You may as well give the opposition another player, that's how putrid he has been. Can barely hit a kick to save his life. Is a witches hat defensively.

Laird is the same. Every time he goes near the ball, he's messing plays up. Sloane is the same except he's now that banged up and slow he's not even influencing defensively, which was once his strength.

Kids who are barely influencing is a massive improvement on these three. That's how bad they've all been this season. Going out there with 19 players instead of 22 would also be a massive improvement on these three.

Jones got a lot of time around the ball and McHenry and Stengle pushed forward, and they still just don't get their hands on it.

Obviously we need to persevere, but let's not break an arm patting them on the back.
Didnt get their hands on it because M Crouch wanted the stat.

Are you for real? Criticising McAsey because he got given a bath by... *checks notes*... JEREMY MCGOVERN!?

In his first ever game at AFL level playing forward, you're having a go at McAsey for merely "running around" up against one of the best defenders in the entire league, with our putrid forward entries.

Of all the players in the match to have a go at. ******* hell
I said "Hope he learns something from the clinic" - I can't make any clearer that I hope he comes good, and I hope he gained something from being on a premiership defender.

We have to persevere - but we also need to know that adding more players who aren't going to contribute much ISN'T going to help. Otherwise we might as well play Himmelburg again.

better than i thought we would be.

lol at giving a spray to a 19 year old kid in a dysfunctional team for being outplayed by one of the best defenders of this generation.

interesting to see matt crouch only played 67% game time

liked mcpherson and hamill in particular, keays did a job on gaff, mchenry got more and more of the ball, jones started well but faded a bit. probably wouldnt make any unforced changes from this game honestly

So let's establish the baseline

Chayce Jones - 11 disposals (82% DE), 1 goal, 2 clearances, 87 meters gained, 2 score involvements, 5 contested, 15 pressure acts, 1 turnover

Now for the senior midfield

Matt Crouch - 29 disposals (69% DE), 0 goals, 3 clearances, 449 meters gained, 2 score involvements, 10 contested, 13 pressure acts, 7 turnovers

Brad Crouch - 23 disposals (70% DE), 0 goals, 5 clearances, 304 meters gained, 2 score involvements, 9 contested, 9 pressure acts, 6 turnovers

Rory Sloane - 18 disposals (78% DE), 1 goal, 2 clearances, 163 meters gained, 1 score involvement, 4 contested, 11 pressure acts, 3 turnovers

Brodie Smith - 31 disposals (71% DE), 1 goal, 1 clearance, 662 meters gained, 4 score involvements, 7 contested, 8 pressure acts, 6 turnovers

David Mackay - 16 disposals (68% DE), 0 goals, 1 clearance, 186 meters gained, 3 score involvements, 7 contested, 12 pressure acts, 3 turnovers

---

Aside from Brodie Smith, Jones once again provides a similar impact on the game to our senior mids from half the touches

No unforced changes? Matt Crouch needs to get the **** out of this side and it can’t come quick enough.

It was good to see some run, but let's face it, it was mostly kamikaze stuff. The coast to coast Smith goal a prime example... he made three errors during that play but to his credit kept running and other blokes made it work.

In general play we still lack system and are consistently slowed down by senior players who look shellshocked right now.

I couldn't care less if we get pumped every week. Nicks needs to play the kids, set a plan and let them work their way through. Select on form and favour youth over experience. We would have lost nothing by having Poholke, Butts and Scholl in today. If he's prepared to let a kid play on McGovern all day, he should be prepared to play the rest of them.

McAsey showed real promise as a Key Forward, people need to realise this is a 19 year old Key Position player in one of the worst teams in living memory. Has shown real glimpses of what he will develop in to.
He just looks a natural forward. Ideally, he'll be the Tex replacement with the Fog playing the Jack Darling-style second fiddle. Similar builds too.

Either this team defense doesn't work or the players aren't implementing it correct (IMO, it's the former), hence when we actually win the ball first, our forward movement look good but when we don't and try to organise this team defense we are disjointed and when we somehow win the ball back, the players aren't in the correct position and we just end up chipping the ball around putting more pressure on our backline who aren't the best kicks.

i dont want to risk a gibbs return

At least Gibbs had the sense to not get the ball.

It shone a bit today. I loved those contested marks in particular.

Could make a very good pairing with Fogarty!
