McAsey showed real promise as a Key Forward, people need to realise this is a 19 year old Key Position player in one of the worst teams in living memory. Has shown real glimpses of what he will develop in to.
I actually didn’t mind him getting outmarked by Gov a few times, felt like that’s the gold standard of intercept marking.

Having said that I much prefer Fish as a forward right now

We cannot in this modern day, play Hartigan, Talia, Brown and Kelly in the same backline. There is a reason they are not manned up by the opposition on the switch, it’s because they are no threat to take the game on and hit a target. They are complete momentum killers. Kelly especially. Ideally he needs to go for an attacking player and if he plays there needs to be a blanket rule that no one kicks to him, I don’t care if there’s no one around him for 100 mins, don’t ******* kick it to him.
Hartigan is a FB. So is Talia.

They shouldn't play together.

At another club Harto would be a very good FB.

With us he is out if position.

100% agree. There was a switch in the last Q when it went to Talia and Kelly 2 on 1. Talia marked, then Kelly ran sideways to the boundary, Talia slowly went back the sideways to Kelly who went back for a long down the line kick.

Seriously, run forward and play on FFS

Good:

McAsey looks a genuine forward option. Clunked some great contested marks as well.
Jones looked hot early but faded. We're edging ever closer to that breakout game. Probably will happen next week if we **** Matt off.
McHenry was quiet, but that dance step in the 2nd was damn class.
Hamill is fast becoming the most exciting prospect on the list.
McAdam did well.
McPherson was exactly what his highlights indicated. Solid, no frills, dependable. Should be a very good addition to the defence.
Smith played his best game for 2020.
ROB was beaten in the ruck, but did a lot of good around the ground. 8 marks, 7 tackles is what I want to see from a Mumford clone. Should end up a solid long term option.
Keays is quietly morphing into a bit of a dependable player.

Bad:

Our forward structures hurt me. Truly. It's just deplorable.
Our midfield structures also do that.

Ugly:

I reckon that might have been the worst game I have ever seen from anyone in a crows jumper from Matt Crouch.
Sloane just looked painfully slow. Give him a few weeks to get that body right, for ****s sakes.
Hartigan, is well, Hartigan. More just ugly he was out there and not someone like Worrell or Butts.
Mackay was out there and not Sholl.

Nicks. Hopeless with no assistant coaches.

Jones. Very good early but drifted out of the game assuming didn't get a go in the midfield after quarter time.
Brad Crouch. Pretty good I thought.
Matt Crouch. Dreadful. Slow to move forward and skills not up to scratch.
Kelly. Drop. Kills our ball movement.
Sloane. Not doing enough. Drop or tell him he injured.
Talia. Hard to blame him for the last 3 quarters.
Mackay. Waste of time playing him.
Hartigan. Didn't mind his game but need to stop him getting the ball.
Brown. Pretty good.
Hamill. Best thing about our game.
Stengle. Game to forget.
Frampton. Solid. Got involved around ground.
McAdam. Was better than stats suggest.
McHenry. Not up to the level yet, needs time to get body right.
Lynch. Non entity.
Keays. Probably lowered his colours today.
Laird. Drop.
Smith. BOG.
McAsey. Yikes. Needs to play third tall forward until body up to it.
McPherson. Solid first game.
Doedee. Our second best.
ROB. Struggled first half, better second half. Still not sold.

Out:
Mackay, Sloane (inj), Laird, M.Crouch, Kelly
In:
Fogarty, Worrell, Schoenberg, Poholke, Sholl

Brown Hartigan Doedee
Hamill Talia Sholl
Jones Poholke Smith
ROB Crouch Keays
Lynch Frampton McAdam
Stengle Fogarty McAsey
Schoenberg McPherson Worrell
McHenry

Senior players are categorically the main issue with our side right now.

I don't want to hear sh*t about how we are playing too many kids, not enough experience, etc.

Experienced players are KILLING us out there. Matt Crouch, Brad Crouch, Mackay, Laird, Kelly, Hartigan, Sloane...
I know you're saying that multiple times in every thread, but Stengle, Frampton, McAsey and McHenry were all absolute zeros today. Jones got a lot of midfield rotations for only 11 possessions, and McAdam finally did something okay late.

Our only hope is you being right. But you're gonna post it over and over again whether you are or not.

Will be a winless season

Hamill, McAsey, McAdam, Jones = MUST be persisted with.

Fagan needs to quietly behind the scenes start planting the seeds with the AFL to get a Priority Pick.

We dont need any more stubborn arrogance.
There is beyond zero chance that we get a priority pick. Best case is a second round next year.

Yep, I have been banging on about this for 2.5 seasons.

Kelly is the one for me we need to drop and Laird.

Agility, mobility, pressure when he doesnt have it.

Hartigan not displaying the attributes he doesn't have isn't really relevant to whether or not he did his job. Again, he defended well and didn't turn the ball over by foot, it's a low bar, but we're in a low season.

Hope so. We spent an incredibly early pick on a player that wouldn't have a single highlight from his season so far, so let's hope the glimpses become actually doing something at some stage.

**** off, this is a lazy take by someone who is a casual football fan. Prob one of those “Just kick it” type operators.

Hes 19, playing in a key position in a team that may be the worst in living memory. A team whose backline is completely under siege all game with a midfield who apply zero pressure.

He then goes forward, and plays in a team where the ball is being delivered by the likes of Matt “The Rainmaker” Crouch. A couple of real solid clunks today showed me has it. His floor is a real solid Key position player, his ceiling is massive.

The only senior player I'd give a pass to outside our backline is Smith. He was very good

M. Crouch - hideous, disgusting disposal, lack of defensive efforts, slow, unfit, actively hurts us the more he has the ball

B. Crouch - only good when his brother isn't on the field. Struggling

Sloane - had no impact. Don't play him if he's injured, and if he's fine, play him as a forward or on the wing

Laird - horrible, hospital handball spectacular, offers us nothing

Mackay - we all know what he brings (nothing)

Lynch - as our senior forward on the ground he was really disappointing, he ran around letting McAsey and Frampton get towelled up in the forward line

Good: Made money on wce but it was tight.

Hamill. Wowee. Is he our next McLeod? Run him through midfield and wing. Pyke shameful mate.
Doedee good. McPherson not bad, good first game. Mchenry slightly better but need more. Jones good early. Get super fit and hit the gym then look out. McAsey good. Thanks Taylor but you can stay out and retire. Stengle quiet but better for run. Keep him in and Murphy out permanently. Smith good. As for Sloane, stop being selfish. You aren't as good or needed as you think. Rested. As for the rest of our senior players some need to go this year Laird, Crouches, Lynch followed by the rest the following year.

Would love to see a game without the Crouch bros, Mackay, Sloane, Laird and Lynch.

Take them out of the side, we may have won today.
