So let's establish the baseline

Chayce Jones - 11 disposals (82% DE), 1 goal, 2 clearances, 87 meters gained, 2 score involvements, 5 contested, 15 pressure acts, 1 turnover

Now for the senior midfield

Matt Crouch - 29 disposals (69% DE), 0 goals, 3 clearances, 449 meters gained, 2 score involvements, 10 contested, 13 pressure acts, 7 turnovers

Brad Crouch - 23 disposals (70% DE), 0 goals, 5 clearances, 304 meters gained, 2 score involvements, 9 contested, 9 pressure acts, 6 turnovers

Rory Sloane - 18 disposals (78% DE), 1 goal, 2 clearances, 163 meters gained, 1 score involvement, 4 contested, 11 pressure acts, 3 turnovers

Brodie Smith - 31 disposals (71% DE), 1 goal, 1 clearance, 662 meters gained, 4 score involvements, 7 contested, 8 pressure acts, 6 turnovers

David Mackay - 16 disposals (68% DE), 0 goals, 1 clearance, 186 meters gained, 3 score involvements, 7 contested, 12 pressure acts, 3 turnovers

---

Aside from Brodie Smith, Jones once again provides a similar impact on the game to our senior mids from half the touches

Why do they continually just ship off Jones from the middle after playing a decent quarter in there?

Hope so. We spent an incredibly early pick on a player that wouldn't have a single highlight from his season so far, so let's hope the glimpses become actually doing something at some stage.

All I have to say is remember, big guys take longer. Took Ken McGregor 6 years to become a top AFL footballer. Many other examples of this. McAsey is a baby. Give him a chance.

Uhh, what?

So do we get to ask for a priority draft pick if we don't win a game this year? LOL, just joking, AFL would never do that for us.

I don't get it. Jones started the game on fire then spent the rest of the match on the wing or in the forward line.

The change happened as soon as Matt Crouch came on the ground in the first after starting on the bench.

It doesn't take a genius to know Jones needs to play the entire match in the middle

Worst season would be Fitzroy’s one win season - 1995 was it? We will be lucky to match it at the current rate. Every team thus far has shown “something” (well, perhaps not the Dees, but the rest). Saints after a woeful effort today will towel us up.

Surely the worst season in afl history will get us a priority pick?
Didn't get a number of basket cases one in recent years and we were in a GF just three years ago. AFL don't hand out PPs since tanking was popular way back when. Gold Coast were a one off assistance package to address the AFL's failures in setting them up.

People need to stop dreaming of a PP and stop dreaming that another club will offer sufficient $ and contract years to Brad Crouch to get us Band 1. Don't you think other clubs scrutinise every game and see at least what faults we see and probably a lot more faults to boot. Our shocking clearance numbers reflect on Brad Crouch as a footballer.

Good:
--- Jones and Hamill, really good.
--- first time this year I've seen the Crows look busy, played on well in first half.
--- Smith took the game on, showed some dash and carry.
--- Freo put a 2-wins-gap between us. #1 Pick shaping up nicely.
Bad:
--- too much to list comprehensively and I ran out of gas writing a tome in another thread at 0300 this morning :weary::weary:.
--- third quarter, terrible
--- disposal accuracy, terrible. Lost count of the number of times Matt Crouch, in clean air, kicked straight to an opponent or ootf or to outnumbered teammates. He wasn't alone
--- has anybody else noticed that the Crouch Bros run in circles with the ball, a lot? (= zero metres gained, from 15 metres run)
--- When in possession with man on the mark, they nearly always look behind and rarely to the corridor.
--- too many half-hearted tackles broken or easily shrugged away.
Ugly: At one stage 15 scoring shots to 6 (half-time?). Kicked half of their score. When WCE were 4.6, they might well have been 8.2 with Kennedy missing 3 gettables and one of their kids as well.
--- outmarked too often in our F50, although it must be said several of those were from Crows' kicks to WCE backmen.

A key stat here is turnover - Chayce only had one as against 6 and 7.

Don't care how many touches MCrouch gets. He is useless.

Laird was better but he didnt get near it as much so he couldn't butcher it as much.

Obrien beaten in the ruck easily but got a few junk time marks.

Mackay had a very typical Mackay game. No more, no less. Brushed off it a few times 1 good kick followed by several bad ones. Lots of hospital handballs, the usual.

Sloane was pretty dreadful with the ball. Needs a rest or play exclusively outside.

Mcasey couldnt get near it. I'm worried he isnt very athletic and we blew an early pick on a dinosaur who turns like a truck but anyway he has plenty of time to prove us wrong. I still think he is a defender long term, but wont give us much offensively.

Hamill was excellent, Id have him in our best with just a couple of mistakes from taking the game on.

Mcpherson was excellent and clean on debut. Jake Kelly needs to GTFO.

Jones looked like he was one of the few that gives a sh*t. He hits players hard in the tackle and makes them earn it. I'm starting to change my mind on him.

Keays gives a sh*t as well. He would look better like others if we were better.

Mcadam and Stengle quiet but understandable.

Unfair on O'Brien. Beaten in the ruck by phoneman, but how many aren't? O'Brien killed him around the ground and outmarked him one on one twice at least. 19 possessions and no way were his marks all junk time.
Liked Jones 1st half. Classy player and once he gets a bit more muscle on, builds his tank and 50 games under his belt, he will be hard to stop. Such good tackles for a bloke his size and weight.

Short and strange season, this season will always been seen with an asterisk against it even if not officially by the AFL, all supporters will so who cares if we do win the spoon.

When did he say that? Good to hear the media are starting to see through his stat line.

That bit of play at the end when the ball looked to trickle out, everyone though it had, but Crouch kept it alive on the line so he could get a handpass into a contest which resulted in a turnover.

Senior players are categorically the main issue with our side right now.

I don't want to hear sh*t about how we are playing too many kids, not enough experience, etc.

Experienced players are KILLING us out there. Matt Crouch, Brad Crouch, Mackay, Laird, Kelly, Hartigan, Sloane...
Harto was alright, but he's unnecessary

I was talking to a good friend today and he is a partner in a prominent Adelaide business and a Port supporter and a rare type as he is very intelligent.

He said the biggest mistake was not doing a complete unbiased view of the board as Chapman and Ricciuto would have been the first to go.
He said a good organization has no room for overinflated egos at board level and that will kill any football club.
I couldn't disagree.
