Not awful. Result better than expected, and it wasn't because Eagles were bad.

ROB our best IMO. Smith much better.
Love Hamill, going to g be a gun. did some really nice things today, I am a fan.
Jones, McHenry starting to look good.
Need to persist with McAdam, he is quicker than I thought. more games and he will only get better.
McPherson solid 1st game, not outstanding but didn't make a mistake I can remember.
Liked some of the ball movement, it didn't always work but sometime it did, fancy that. Just need a little bit better F50 entry.

Not going to comment on the older players, Smith and Tahlia the only ones looking like an AFL players ATM.

How many more times do I need to yell at the TV before he’ll play on??

I swear he’s not listening to me
Me either
The switch across the backline to a player on his own who has space to run forward...then he doesn't take it, is the most frustrating thing.

We would have lost by 200 points.

No, we wouldn't have.

Removing Matt Crouch, Sloane and Laird from that game would have been a massive positive for us. They pretty much ****ed up everything they touched (outside of that goal from Sloane). Offered effectively nothing defensively as well.

You could potentially argue there would have been a negative from removing Lynch and B.Crouch.

McPherson and Hamill have some class.
Jones building nicely
MacAdam, when he works hard, looks good.
McHenry a smart natural SF.
McAsey looked good up forward against the best backline in the comp.
RoB. Did what he said he would do. Win the contest around the ground. No one beats NicNat in the middle.
Stengle. Rusty. Also questionable work rate.
Frampton a cheap plug and play forward.
Doedee. Class. Saved at least two goals early.

These are some the guys we need to see improve this year for this season to note be a total waste.

I know you're saying that multiple times in every thread, but Stengle, Frampton, McAsey and McHenry were all absolute zeros today. Jones got a lot of midfield rotations for only 11 possessions, and McAdam finally did something okay late.

Our only hope is you being right. But you're gonna post it over and over again whether you are or not.

You listed four forwards who offered us not much. I wonder why they offered not much?

Was it that we had only 24 inside 50s in the entire match (versus 49 for WC)?

Was that because we were smashed in clearances 17-28?

fu** off, this is a lazy take by someone who is a casual football fan. Prob one of those “Just kick it” type operators.

Hes 19, playing in a key position in a team that may be the worst in living memory. A team whose backline is completely under siege all game with a midfield who apply zero pressure.

He then goes forward, and plays in a team where the ball is being delivered by the likes of Matt “The Rainmaker” Crouch. A couple of real solid clunks today showed me has it. His floor is a real solid Key position player, his ceiling is massive.

Piss off, mate. He's done **** all and you're looking through blinders. You're another of those imbeciles who is going to post the same shit week in and week out, no matter what happens.

I hope to Christ he amounts to something, because we spent an extraordinarily early pick on him, and so far he's just run around trying to make a contest. Hopefully he learns something from the absolute clinic that was run on him by the West Coast key defenders today.

Hats off to him, he’s work rate is good and he’s doing a respectable defensive job, but I just don’t think he’s going to make it.
No, he's probably not, but his passion for the contest is really encouraging.

Frampton and McCasey were fine, but Stengle spent a lot of time up the ground and was disappointing. That play that led to Liam Ryan kicking their 10th summed him up - risky but attacking kick to him in the centre square, he doesn't run hard enough at the ball to mark in the clear, doesn't make enough effort to mark in a contest, and makes no effort at all once the ball hits the ground.

Are you for real? Criticising McAsey because he got given a bath by... *checks notes*... JEREMY MCGOVERN!?

In his first ever game at AFL level playing forward, you're having a go at McAsey for merely "running around" up against one of the best defenders in the entire league, with our putrid forward entries.

Of all the players in the match to have a go at. ****ing hell

I think it's inevitable he'll get outclassed by a kid coming through. Still though, he's certainly earned a few more years on an AFL list and looking like a pretty shrewd pick-up.

Certainly, but there were some really poor decision making across the middle too. You know the ones, dumb disposals to a mate under pressure instead of getting it in there.

Except we already have half a team of kids who are barely doing anything, and are getting encouragement awards from desperate fans.

The kids are getting more looks at it from Nicks, and they're not ready to influence the game yet. Putting more kids in there is more players not influencing the game.

Shit, maybe it advances them, but we'd have to be prepared for MASSIVE thrashings.

Yeah, no. That's a terrible take.

Probably the only thing missing from McAsey game this week was a goal, but took some nice contested marks and for the most part, got involved (14 disposals at CHF). Can certainly hold his head high against an absolute star defender.

Tried him in the middle, but he doesn't have the workrate for it to be a good move. Hasn't clicked for him like it did for McAdam that he needs to work his ass off to keep his spot. The goals will come from that.

Jeremy McGovern is the best defender in the league and has been for a few seasons now, despite the media fawning over Alex "His biggest weakness is defending" Rance

Another frustrating game to watch.

What is our obsession with the 1 metre handballs to someone running into congestion.

Hamill was a bright spark. He was caught HTB a few times but I put that down to his teammates selling him into trouble.

Jones needs to be played in the middle at the expense of one of the Crouches.

McPherson didn’t seem out of place.

When did Sloane’s skills turn to shit.

The Crouches are the most selfish footballers at the moment. M Crouch under no pressure couldn’t hit up a simple pass.

The game as a whole was so boring. We started the game trying to take the game on but then as the game went on we started to chip backwards and sideways.

I won’t be going in the ballot for the game against St Kilda on a Monday night in the cold and to watch us kick 4 goals, watching us stuff up basic skills time and time again.

Just looking forward for an option would be an improvement.

There was 1 mark he took in the last quarter where he never once looked forward, and another earlier where he didn't look forward until being told to play on - at which he slammed it blindly onto his boot with a kick down the line.

We cannot in this modern day, play Hartigan, Talia, Brown and Kelly in the same backline. There is a reason they are not manned up by the opposition on the switch, it’s because they are no threat to take the game on and hit a target. They are complete momentum killers. Kelly especially. Ideally he needs to go for an attacking player and if he plays there needs to be a blanket rule that no one kicks to him, I don’t care if there’s no one around him for 100 mins, don’t ******* kick it to him.
Spot on!!!

McAsey showed real promise as a Key Forward, people need to realise this is a 19 year old Key Position player in one of the worst teams in living memory. Has shown real glimpses of what he will develop in to.
Ten Melbourne clubs are rubbing their hands together watching him develop. His managers phone is ringing hot!

Matt Crouch is a liability.

Brad is more of a damaging player without his brother in the side, as are most others as we don’t have him calling for a dinky handball 2m away to then result in a turnover. He needs an extended stint away from the team.

What did playing Mackay achieve?

Hamill, Jones McPherson and Smith were very good. McAdam has something. Frampton is another Ian Perrie but he’s still better than Himmelberg. Keays and Ned had a crack.

Jones got a lot of time around the ball and McHenry and Stengle pushed forward, and they still just don't get their hands on it.

Obviously we need to persevere, but let's not break an arm patting them on the back.

Full credit to Smith today, clearly our best, had an excellent game.

Thought McAsey was good. He’s a natural lead up forward, even does it when he’s in defence. Just keep him forward.

Hamill is a really special player. Some of his agility and spatial awareness was elite. Pace is a bonus too. Potential mid?

Jones/McHenry keep teasing with bits and pieces but not enough. Some signs though.

McAdam was amazing in the 4th, could be a real weapon. Nice debut from Moose, at least moved the ball quickly and efficiently

Lynch has some moments, O’Brien was ok. Doedee also ok. Talia was good but why we try and move the ball via he or Kelly is a mystery. Kelly especially kills us.

Not sure what to say about Crouch, Crouch, Laird and Sloane. All AA or B and F winners. Just a shadow of their former selves, should be driving this side but are actively holding it back.
