Review Good night season 2022

I wasn’t commenting on Sinns performance if that is directed at me (and I haven’t really seen anyone taking issue with him unless I’ve missed it)

What I have taken issue with is our trading team going all in on a player at the detriment to future draft picks. A decision which will bite us on the ass this year as I’ve pointed out we are in line to get 1 top 40/50 draft pick in a year we will suck.

Wasn't directed at you and I tentatively agree with your assessment, pending Sinn's development over the course of the season.

The thing that occurs to me is the over-rating of our players internally. We kept hearing about Skinner’s aggression in the air at training and Finlayson’s ability as a second ruckman. Finlayson may be the worst second ruck I have ever seen. He’s under-sized to play either as a key forward or ruck. What were we thinking that he could be a replacement let alone upgrade on Ladhams?

We'll probably beat Adelaide because they are spoon tier. But they'll play above themselves so a loss isn't out of the question. We have 0 chance of beating Carlton or Melbourne.

Either 1-4 or 0-5. We finished top 2 the last 2 years. Main thing that changed was we lost assistant coaches. Ken on his own is Mark Neeld tier.

We can’t wait until the season is entirely gone, fans have chucked in the towel and the damage to our brand is done. We are not a club in a gifted privileged position of awesome draws and favourable friendships with afl house.

We wait until it’s too late and we could be stuck in a bog that takes us far too long to escape.

The decision to jettison Hinkley and move onnneeds to be made in the first 1/4 of the season.

It appears that the players believe their own hype 😡

Nope. We were coached by Horse in his full mulish mode. We were sharing (truthfully it was me) Italian recipes for Horsey. A number of Bloods fans were opposed to his contract extension.

Took ages but eventually the penny dropped for the Club and Horse himself that the coaching team needed people with tactical nous. Enter McVeigh and Pyke - both highly cerebral types.

Horse is good at day to day people management and most players seem to love him and that is what he concentrates on it seems.

Maybe Hinkley is worse and the position proves not recoverable. That is for you folk and PAFC to decide.
"Maybe Hinkley is worse" LOL

Maybe a bloke who has literally never coached a side to a grand final and is about to break the VFL/AFL record for most games coached without doing this, is worse than a bloke who has coached to three grand finals, winning one, losing one and being robbed of a deserved victory in the third.

The fact that Horse was ever under any pressure at all despite repeatedly delivering just shows that Port supporters are the most patient in Australia, and our club has the lowest expectations of any club in the AFL. Despite this the media seems to show it the exact opposite way around.

We are the 2022 Lakers. They started the season over confident drinking their own bath water and still haven't realised how absolutely shit they are. I fully expect to see Dixon flexing lebron style when we are down 60 but he has just kicked one from the goal square after a one handed mark.
Against a bottom 4 team as well

Just on this, I wouldn't be opposed to us bringing in Pyke as coach. Probably won't happen because of the shit he would cop from the SA media and Crows fans, but he has the tactical nous to make us look a lot better.

He wouldn't care less about media or Crows fans. He would expect to have the job to keep to be bothered taking it though. He’s pretty financial he’s not moving from WA unless he’s got a really good offer to do so and he thinks it’s a good idea.

We are frauds, our coach is a fraud, some of our players are frauds, our player management team are looking more and more like frauds.
If Ladhams and Howard aren't better than the players in their current positions I will run down Rundle Mall in a tutu.
And Laidley in a Collette Dinnagan frock would have done a better job than that numpty in the coaches box. I'm over this shit.

Let's look at this logically. Ken won't be sacked in round 2.

Rd 3 - Showdown
There's no doubt we will be seen as gettable. Adelaide were putrid against Collingwood but Nicks will have them up and about. I see this as 50/50 currently. A loss here would heap massive pressure on Hinkley.

Rd 4 - Melbourne (AO)
This will get a poor crowd. We are no hope of winning this game. Most likely a 7-8 goal loss.

Rd 5 - Carlton (MCG)
Voss will have a massive point to prove. Carlton look rejuvenated and they will absolutely towel us up. This has the makings of a 10 goal loss.

Rd 6 - West Coast (AO)
West Coast suck this year so this should be winnable. However they play our home ground a lot better than us. Leaning 70-30 West Coast for another embarrassing at home loss.

Rd 7 - St Kilda (Cairns)
A nothing game against another shit team. We might win.

Rd 8 - Bulldogs (AO)
A Friday night primetime game at home. We simply do not win these. Big Bulldogs win here.

At best I can see is 2-6 going into round 9 with an atrocious percentage. Then a game against Norf. A loss to the cellar dwellers and I think that'll be curtains for Ken. You can realistically sack a coach mid season with that sort of start. Unfortunately I don't think it'll happen before then but we'll see.

Edit: The other realistic possibility is if he's lost the players, which looks somewhat likely. In that case I think a loss to the Crows, then thumpings by Carlton and Melbourne will make his position untenable by Rd 5.

It's untenable now. His past two home games have resulted in a 12 goal then a 11 goal hiding. They're basically the same loss twice as well. That's a sackable offence in itself, let alone one being a preliminary final & the other being a massive night for the club in honouring Russell Ebert. He should be sacked by lunchtime today.

He learnt absolutely nothing from the preliminary final, he said as much when he finally appeared from his absence over the summer which was a weak move by him. Ken avoided any semblance of ownership of that loss, then he did the exact same thing with last night. He threw the players under the bus last night, same as he did post the prelim. No wonder the players aren't responding to him now, they know Ken will take the credit when they win, but when they don't he will throw them under the bus to save himself.

It's untenable now, he has to be removed now, not in a month, not in 10 weeks time. The head is rotten and needs to be removed. Enough is enough.

i agree but can't see it happening until we have a few more embarrassing losses.

How many more does Koch need until he sees it, swallows his ego and does his job? Does it have to be on a Friday night against the Crows? What about against Melbourne on a Thursday in prime time? What about against Carlton against Voss?

It's appalling that we can all see it but the man in charge either can't or refuses to see it. Because to sack Ken goes against everything he has said publicly, and will in turn make him look bad. Hawthorn bloody moved on Clarkson for godsake to move onto their future, and after last night it looks a lot rosier then ours currently does.
