Are you serious? Why is it potentially racist?

Are YOU serious? Random privileged* white guy makes an account page on FB attacking a non-white player, for what I can only assume is being on dancing with the stars? Something white players done before. I don't see his anti-darren jolly page about being on the block.

*not sure if hes privileged of money or b/g but his attitude has superiority complex written all over

Was he attacking a non-white player? Did you read the Facebook page?

Any decent bloke knows exactly what's wrong with that review. How self absorbed can you be?

Thank **** he is nowhere near our club.
Oh please.

So he called someone a bitch in a review (who he did not even name personally) because they treated him in a very condescending manner. And?

"Any decent bloke knows..." give me a friggin' break. Like you haven't muttered something like "idiot" under your breath when you had an equivalent situation?

The employees lost my order, resulting in me waiting over an hour for a coffee that didn't come. When I raised the issue and asked for a refund, the waitress rolled her eyes at me. Very disappointed with the quality of service.
Are you implying normal people don't get frustrated from time to time, enough to call someone a name?

Essendon hurt is very prevalent in this thread lol
We are kinda on their side of the fence now though ironically... we do now have 2 of their players (Monfries and Ryder) who are kinda really important for us and the likelihood is that if the Essendon players get suspended for X amount of time the so will Ryder and Monfries and vice-versa.
So we should be helping them out with how to get their players off from being suspended by ASADA as we now have mutual interest in this happening ;)

Requesting a trade for more opportunity isn't the problem, it is requesting a trade to just one club which really hinders the ability of the club to get adequate compensation.

Trading and a freedom of movement is all about a compromise so that players do not feel the normal conditions of employment are unreasonable, however, restraint of trade largely related to your ability for equitable trade, it is not so much a freedom of choice right. Players are able to specify the terms of their remuneration so the only real restraint of trade within the ALF is the salary cap.

Players, however, have taken the freedom to trade as a freedom of choice, this both hinders the ability of the AFL to create a level playing field and bestows a right that is not legally provided, it would be like trying to take a department store to court on restraint of trade for being forced to work in a particular department. AFL is the employer, the clubs are effectively the departments which sub-contract from the AFL.

Players have been given too much freedom of choice, this makes the draft less effective as a mechanism for achieving equality. AFL needs to send a message out that they will not allow players to transfer within their first two years and that a failure of a player to execute a contract they have signed will result in de-registration for the greater of two years or the remaining length of their contract.

Players want both security of a long-term contract and to pick and choose when they can pack their bags and leave, you can't have it both ways. If you want flexibility then just ask for one year contracts, if you want security then you have to commit to it as the club is committed to paying you as long as you turn up and try.
I see what you say with all of this, however, I put this to you... if the salary cap was strictly enforced and checks were done to make sure no "under the table" payments were happening, then in theory I believe that if you scrapped the draft entirely, but enforced the salary cap, and had no restrictions on players moving clubs, thus it would be a hybrid of the Premier League Soccer system which is open market and with the current restricted draft/salarycap AFL system.

This way players can choose who they want to play for, and if they are accepting less pay to play for their chosen club then well I think they should be allowed to.
What do you think?

As a less extreme adjustment, there is another idea I had where if a player wants to move mid-contract then if the club expresses that it does not want the player to leave, then wherever he moves to must pay him equal or less than the club he is moving away from, for the duration of what his old contract would have lasted, or 3 years, whichever is greater.
What about that idea?

I think Monfries and Ryder should cut a deal & put the whole saga in the past, throwing Essendon under the bus in the process should be none of our concern.

Yeah but I don't think that our first thought should toward throwing anyone "under the bus" as it's really not a respectable thing to do and the Bombers were ok in the end with the trade and we got our man.
There is no need to burn a bridge with Essendon in my opinion.

The decision will be what is best for our 2 players nothing to do with Essendon

I have no problems with the review of the Cafe they obviously missed his order. It's not my style to review shops online, I usually get up after 10 minutes (not an hour) and ask if they forgot my order and they are very apologetic.
How did he speak to her to make the eyes roll? we will never know, but to me he sounds like a silver spooned, under-achieving twat.

OK I see where you are coming from mate, but I mean first of all, the whole supplements thing seems shady to me as they don't have any direct evidence, it's all consequential evidence when you look at it.

I think that as long as the players get say 6 months ban at most then we can live with that at Port (not sure how they will cope with that over at Windy Hill as most of their list will be banned, meaning they will be essentially fielding a reserves side).

Anyway, point is that as long as we get Ryder and Monfries back for finals time then we will be happy with that don't you agree?

Also, it's not really for us to judge if Essendon are guilty as it has not had it's day in court yet.
Out of principle I do not want to judge the Bombers before everything has been through the proper legal processes, as they have the right to be deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
I think that we should remember this as it's an important part of law in developed countries.

Anyone who has a problem with that café review is a nanny state ******. If you don't want bad reviews, don't **** people's orders up.

Bit immature and petty to cling to the issue to the point where you feel the need to write a review on the place IMO. His comments reek of "I didn't have the guts to say this IRL, but I'll say it behind your back" too.

You obviously don't understand the concept of what a review is and the purpose of it.

I do understand, but there's a way to criticise or provide negative feedback while remaining civil and without sounding like an immature jerk.

This "normal person review" is a good example:

In his review, Gorringe made himself sound like a total arseh*le by comparison.

HAHAHAHAHA, it's funny 'cause it's true :D

I feel for the kid despite his outburst. He is anxious because he needed a fresh start to keep his afl dream alive.

I don't know, trying to speak with someone from a financial institution right now makes me want to throw "a Gorringe".
