Ended the season with;

(2024 draft)
pick 8, pick 28, junk pick in the 70's

(2025 draft),
Essendon 1st, Essendon 2nd, Essendon 3rd

Ended the trade & draft season with;

(2024 draft)

pick 13 (Kako), pick 37 (Kayle Gerryn), Pick 39 (Angus Clarke), Pick 61 (Rhys Unwin), Pick 70 (Zak Johnson)

(2025 draft using this years draft / ladder positions)
Pick 5, pick 8, pick 25, pick 26, pick 80 I think this last one is wrong)

so overall, not a bad period for the single loss of Jake Stringer

17 years straight !!!! Well done

No,

Tigers clearly won this off season. Getting teams to over pay for B grade players the way they did was something even the big red fire engine couldn't get done.. Tigers are set for premierships in 3 - 7 years on the back of this haul

No one’s played yet…. We’ve lost 3 -4 very good players, it’s all about development.

Yes they did

Shai Bolton finished 3rd in 2023 (Richmond finished 13th)
Liam Baker and Jack Graham finished 2nd in 2021 (Tiges won flag)

Hardly domineering forces of players deserving of first round picks yet Tiges did.. Very very good bits of business by Blair Hartley and Co. Definitely won this off season

Your question was did they finish top 3, not are they domineering forces and finished top 3.

The context of your question was based on Tigers losing 3-4 quality players, but sure change the narrative to suit.

You are probably right with my poorly worded question

will agree to disagree that the picks given probably weren't in line with the output they have displayed

Must not rate many players if you think Shai Bolton isn't worth a first round pick

Shai Bolton is one of the most over rated players in the competition. I will die on this hill

Match winner? sure. Absolutely. Worth what was given up? No. That should be reserved for the absolute top tier players of which Shai is not

I don't disagree that 14 was a bit high for Baker or that Richmond were well compensated for all their trades.

so we can only go off what we know..

Did Liam Baker ever finish in the Tigers top 3 in the B&F? likewise Jack Graham? Unsure if Shai Bolton finished top 3 as well..

If you don’t know the value all 4 of the players that left us had, in our premiership years… then im not sure what we are discussing.

my initial comment was that the Tigers easily have won the off season. Im not even going to debate what said players are worth. Think the wider AFL community knows Richmond won. The eventual draft haul proves this

It looks like our list managers stuffed up by not putting themselves in a position to get Dobson in the draft.
Outside of that, we addressed the needs in our midfield and brought in another forward cheaply.
All in all,
A-

See this is where rankings are total nonsense because they are measured on outcome not expected outcome. When we assess people at work for example it’s against an expectation of performance. Crows went in with 4/64 and took the 2 players everyone expected. AI could have executed that draft and they didn’t find a way to trade in to get the #1 rated ruck a hometown product who went at pick 53. At best it’s meets expectations and the Dodson miss you could argue makes it less than. On that basis C-. Similarly Lions took the 2 players everyone knew and a late academy player. Meets expectations C. Yet fox hands out a A. It’s just nonsense and clickbait.

D for the trade period absolute insanity over the whole pick 3 debacle and baker trade will come back to bite us in future.

Draft A plus recruitment team pulled a blinder with the limited capital.

Still serious glaring holes in the list especially for genuine bonafide midfield talent and KPD and pace and skills

Massive need for the Dockers.

Tigers wanted picks 10,11 and Fremantle offered picks 10,18.

Richmond got pick 10,11 and Fremantle got 18 upgraded to 14 with a F3.

Alot to paid but it's our greatest hole a goal kicking forward and burst midfielder.
Dockers won't rue that trade. he's an absolute jet

I wouldn't worry about the opinions of bomber supporters when it comes to trading and recruiting. They've mostly drunk the bath water and have absolutely no idea.

Bolton and an F3 for Faull and Hotton.
Freo also essentially upgraded Trainor to Reid.

Reckon both clubs will be pretty happy with that outcome.

10 and 11 gave us the flexibility we needed to get the players we had earmarked at that range without threat of other clubs taking them.

I like Murphy but rather Berry. Fremantle offered West Coast pick 14 (17) and 30 (34) for Berry. West Coast wanted Allan and Port might have got him.

Pick 11 would have got us Berry.

Ok with the trade but it did hurt us not getting Berry.

Berry may have been a better match for your side.

But I really rate Reid as that outside link man and think he will be very good for you guys. I don’t think he’ll end up a centre square mid.

Challenge may be holding onto him.

There were murmurings that he gave the West Coast recruitment team concern that he wasn’t overly keen to leave Melbourne. If you can keep him as a Docker, I reckon he’s a stalwart of your side for the next 12 years.

Would have loved him at the Tigers but we addressed the spine instead.

100%.

Our major of concern is holding onto him.

If we are top 4 and challenging, and he is in the best 22/23, it will help with retention.

For, there wasn't much between Berry, Allan and Murphy.
