We do (did maybe with Joe gone?) have a impressive collection of 200cm tall quality players.

Swans really needed Amerty or McDonald to truely break out. More often than not you need more than just quality attacking mids to win finals
McDonald, I think it's definitely on the cards. He's still developing and the main knock on him is being rushed into being more than he's not already - a bit like some of the takes on Hipwood still.

Amartey... no. He's the prototypical athletic tall that can abuse a particular match-up but is absolutely anonymous the other 90% of the time. Finlayson was another.

With McDonald still learning they were undersized against us and it was fine having a great M/F through the season in most games but on the MCG in a cutthroat game physical dominance of a key or keys is critical.

As it turned out it didn't matter that much because their M/F guns didn't fire.

When Amartey kicked those 9 goals in a game I thought you enjoy it mate because powerful teams won't be letting you do that again.

McDonald’s next goal from outside the goal square will be just about his longest ever.

I don’t see the competitiveness or the athleticism of a great key forward in him - think he’s a complementary piece at best for them.

I'm not sure whether it's appreciated by fans but it's rare to have players the size of Daniher and Andrews at either end who are as good as they are.

When I speak to people from other clubs who are reasonably savvy about the game they always give the same answer to the one player of ours they wish they could have at their club .

Andrews.
Both criminally underrated, Daniher in particular. How many players can kick 50+ goals year on year and ruck for 25% game time as well?

Not that it matters that much in the overall...but........in which universe does Blakey get AA ahead of Andrews.
He is a lizard? One of the overlords.

The immediate question that arises to me is that maybe you're better off without the data. Obviously especially when things are going well.
Could be.
Fagan and coaches had no reason to change much after 1/4 time.
Well on top, no need to change things unless something obvious to the coaches popped up.
Sydney only looked like kicking a few when the game was all but over until the siren sounded.

I’d also say that the data helps to validate the coaching staff’s on-field observations on how key areas of the game are unfolding.

So, whilst important, it’s not a deal breaker. Fagan probably loved the challenge on some level, relying on his old school coaching nous!

I wonder if the players were told.

Things like stats can cut both ways. If your numbers are good but the team is down it's easy to go 'I'm doing my bit', stay as she goes.

Without stats players might just keep pushing.

Definately a learnings moment. I hate that word, but it fits.
