We often here a lot about the morons, sycophants, narcisists, egomaniacs and legends in their own lunchboxes, but not often do we hear about the blokes who off the ground bring pride to their footy clubs and families, and in retirement make a really special contribution (be it on a large scale or small) to society.

So who are the blokes from your footy club your proud of as men and not just athletes?
From West Coast mine would be....

David Wirrupunda: Champion bloke by all accounts, softly spoken, humble, decent man who will no doubt continue to make a wonderful contribution to the community and to Indigenous Youth in his retirement.

Craig Turley: Unfairly labelled an unfocused surfy party boy, Craig Turley always struck me as a deeply sensitive man who wanted to find out about his parentage, (Turley was adopted). I believe he wants to be an author of fiction now? How many AFL footballers would go down that path?

So who are you proud of from your footy club?

Scarlett, the bloke just gets on with the job. He is the sort of player (and no doubt bloke in general) that you just have to admire.

Kelly and Ling also seem like funny blokes after seeing them both of before the game.

Our backline in particular, esp.:

Tadhg Kennelly
Leo Barry
Craig Bolton

Humble, hardworking guys, very modest in interview. And Tadhg's a charmer too. Not too many of those in the game.

I credit much of the turn around from "Bad News Bears" to a credible team in 1996 to Andrew Bews. Absolute champion of a bloke.

No longer up here, but he certainly bought a football culture to the club that had never been seen before, as well as anyone who remembers his last game in 1998 will agree that he had more passion for football than nearly anyone going around.

Scotty Lucas is one of the nicest blokes you'll meet. Loves his sport.

Have met Lloydy a few times as well and he seems okay

How can you miss out all those other Weagle legends,

Peos, Barich, Langdon, and Mainers. Who says nice guys don't win

But to help you out with some decent Weagels, McIntosh and Banfield both great fellas. Must be that goldern triangle upbringing ;)

Russell Robertson is a very decent guy. Always happy to give up his time and help promote the club. He's also done a lot of charity work in the past.

Troy Broadbridge was probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. Very quietly spoken, humble and suprisingly witty. He was a real gentleman.

Some guys love to have a chat..some are just too busy to do it.

Some would say I'm personally biased in this, but Mark Bolton is a great example of a bloke who is just genuinely approachable to anybody. One of the few guys to regularly support his team-mates at VFL level as well, which is good to see (some players don't do that).

Brainy bugger too (qualified forensic chemist).

Apparantley theres a disabled bloke who used to go to WCE training every day, whos electric wheelchair broke and Andrew Embley payed for a new one for him $800.

It probably broke when Embley pushed it down the stairs at Club Bay View.
