Having had a few showdowns now, I would like to get supporters thoughts on the best showdown to date.

For the record the Showdown II was always special to me, sat in the pouring rain seeing the Crows just get over the line against the Power if Im not mistaken it was Bondy and Vardy's goals that sealed the one.

I remember hugging complete stranger in the rain I was so happy, ok shw was a cute Crows supporter who was jumping up and down next to me at the time of the siren.

The other one that was special was the First Semi Final Showdown, when cocky Cornes was all excited about playing us, hmmm we all know had the last laugh.

I guess the greatest will be the one where we beat them in a Grand Final.

It may take years to happen but when it does it will be sweet.

Thanks

From what I can remember - Showdown II, "Dream Final" and I was really excited and pumped up after the R3 game this year.

The "Finals" showdown where we absolutely silenced them and pounded em and the notorious, infamous showdown of Round 3 which everyone knows very well. I hope this Showdown will be another special one (us thrashing em:D)

Dont be so surprised James23 I think we are both similar in where our squads are at, never say never.

2010.

Only one thing better than winning a GF, ie. winning a GF against the Power !

The PAFC may official close down if that were to happen, would be right about there in the highlights of my life ! lol

Adelaide the town would be truly alive if the two were to meet in a GF, mind you there would be a massive exodus to the promise land for that week, that being the "G".

Showdown II - Rehn down to McLeod who slotted it from about 35m out on his left from the boundary to bring us to within a kick with not long to go, magnificent.

Showdown VII - I think this is the one we were 5 or 6 goals down and came back to win, I think I remember James Theissen slotting an inspirational goal to bring us pretty close

Dream Final - Of Course

All Crows Showdown wins :thumbsu:

SD2 - the day the Crows finally " believed "

SD4 - Was there , Smashed em , Vards kicks 18 plus the now-infamous " SD4 MASS WALKOUT " with 15 still to go

SD7 - Was there ,came outta nowhere , Roo and Macca @ the peak of their powers , nuff said

Dream final - The look on Rooch's face after the game

SD 24 - Possibly the AFC's greatest ever win/moment

The Dream Final was always special.

I think I almost passed out from the excitement before the game.

Pickett's hit on Biglands was yet another example of the dirty tactics the Power used that day.

Oh that and Wakelin using illegally his face to hit Bickley's arm, very very poor by Wakelin. lol

A few for me stand out.

SHowdown 2 in 1997, awesome match in the rain.

the first showdown in 2004, where Port were near the top of the ladder, we were struggling and we ran all over them, when we should never have won.

2005, Dream Final....enough said.

Even last year's 2nd showdown, where we fought from behind to overrun them, as we were struggling a lil at the time and Port were playing awesome.

Round 3 this year was very very good as well, will be one to remember for a while.

Yep, definitely those two :thumbsu: Also the one played in the rain when Ivan Maric made his debut, that was pretty cool.

Showdown II far and away the best for me.

when Rehn palmed it down to McLeod running into the goal square, late in the last... I almost wet myself.

note: I said almost :D

I always remember that game, I dont remember the specifics of the game but I remember being there in the rain and the Port supporters were worried all game about the crows coming back and I remember Port trying to shut the game down in the last quarter. They never looked like scoring in that quarter and when we eventually hit the front and I remember all the Port supporters saying "We're ****ed, piss weak Port etc" was an interesting thing to witness.

I would say my favourites are

The final
showdown 2
first showdown this year
and 2004.

LOL!

I'll never understand why, of all the people on Port's list Bickley could have whacked, he picked Wakelin.

The Semi Final Showdown for me. Just being their it was amazing. The atmoshpere, and I guess the fear that Port would send us out in straight sets. The fact the crowd was segregated and the fact we beat them by so much.

It was truelly an amazing sight sitting in the cat one area and watching as the Crows bays rose to cheer after every goal whilst the port bays sat their silently contemplating how to make their 'great escape'.

Definitley Showdown 2 in the wet where we overran them in the last quarter with the whole quarter bieng played in the forward half for the Crows. Brett Chalmers had a blinder for the Crows as a loose man in defence as I recall!!

Compare that to the one the following year in the rain when port won by about 8 points and CUmmings kicked the last goal after doing sweet bugger all all day. Wanganeen was superb in the game.

Triumph and Disaster. The sick feeling in the back of your throat when you knwo you can't win versus the delirious joy when you know they can't win.

The dream final was good as well, especially when Chad Cornes was standing 20 metres from me and I unleashed a barrage of abuse which I am sure he heard. Fantatsic.

All the wins were special in their own way. Today's will be special as well no matter how it unfolds

There is such a great rivalry between the two clubs and I for one would never try to understate how importnat these games are. some supporters seeem to want to downplay them but I don't know why.

Footy has been so much more interesting since Port came into the comp.

S Thompson for the Showdown medal for mine.

24 showdowns, 12 great wins, 12 punishing losses, where do I begin?

Watched Showdown II on TV back in 1997, was a Port home game. A great comeback win on a wet sunday afternoon game.

Round 7 2000 was a great comeback from 40 points down with Roo and Macca leading the charge. McLeod's goal in the last minute putting Adelaide in front for good.

Semi Final 2005 was awesome in front of over 50,000. Our best of the 18 wins in a fairly good season. McLeod's goal in the third quarter was superb and I still remember it and how crazy I went. Also, why did the AFL let 10,000 or so Port members into our home final?, still annoyed about that!

Round 18, 2007. We were in trouble, 3 bad losses in a rows coming in, and behind at 3 quarter time and the good news was that we kicking to the Northern end of the ground and it was a Crows home game. We had more scoring shots than them and I predicted at 3 quarter time we would win. We staged a great comeback in front of a frenzied crowd to start a sequence of 4 wins in 5 games to get us back into the top 8 after 22 rounds.

Round 3, 2008. Port got off to a great start and then did everything they could do to stop us. Been our home game, the crowd got angry at Port. But we showed guts, and determination to come from well behind and win by 6 points for an amazing win. The mostly one sided Adelaide crowd was simply incredible. TAKE THAT DEAN BROGAN THE P***K WHO PUNCHES PEOPLE IN PUBLIC!

The Semi Final 2005 was definately the best for me because we beat Port in a Finals Game. Both groups of supporters were desperate for a win in this game more than any other showdown.
Todays game was probably the worst and even if we had won it wasnt a great game and the atmosphere was lacking with no crowd. A win would have been great though.:(
