Welcome everyone to the Season 33 night of the Gumbies. We will be getting underway very shortly so get yourselves settled in as it might be a long one (first time doing one of these). ​

Tonight we celebrate a season of many highs and lows. We had a tremendous start to the season with many new faces joining us (including yours truly) putting on the clay nation guernseys. There will be many awards given out tonight with the most prestigious overall Best and Fairest given at the very end.

No matter what happens tonight, I want to say I am very proud of all of you that helped make this past season the very best Gumby season it could possibly be.​

We started the season playing against my old side Coney Island. It was a hard fought match with not much in it for the majority of the game. Aristotle kicked 3 goals in a best on ground performance from centre half forward. Rodney won the hitout contest while also managing to get 20 disposals and 4 tackles. Brick showed us a glimpse of his potential on the wing this season acquiring 23 disposals and a goal. eDPS was also big on the wing with 17 disposals and a goal. I rounded out the top 5 with 15 disposals and a goal.

We got on a hot streak early in the season by beating the reigning premiers in round 2. We won the contest through a massive array of goals from our new rookies as well as our brand spanking new forward line-up. Goose got 10 tackles and monstered the majority of the work in the midfield. CatToTheFuture got 4 goals on the half forward flank and was a revelation for us early on. eDPS racked up 31 disposals and a goal, and Brick also did well on the opposite wing with 23 disposals and 4 tackles. Rodney rounds out the top 5 with 13 hitouts and 7 tackles.

A very close contest that was almost too close to call at the end as we went on to win against Party Gull and their motley crew of gamblers by just 5 points. Goose had another terrific game and another 100+ DT score in a row. eDPS got moved early into full forward (much to Barrybran 's dismay) and got 6 goals. Supercheapgiants also got moved but into the midfield and managed 20 disposals and a goal showing everyone that we truly had the best rookies going around. Riviat and beez both worked well in the middle of the ground helping us dominate.

Thanks for having me this year Gumbies, it was thoroughly enjoyable . I'm going back to the Roys to cause trouble.

We had achieved four wins in a row and it actually looked like it was our season (or so it seemed). A massive win against the Demons where we kept them to just 4 goals 9 behinds. A true team effort. Barrybran kicked 7 goals at full forward and was larger than he has ever been before. Goose once again got over 100 DT points, gathering a huge 34 disposals and 2 goals to boot. NSWCROW moved into the ruck and performed incredibly well, keeping the Demons rucks to just 6 hitouts while Crowy got 13 and 2 goals as well. Riviat was a big accumulator this game netting 31 disposals and 3 tackles from the centre. I round out the top 5 with 9 free kicks (I think I paid off the umps but it was so long ago I can't remember).

Barrybran 's 100th Gumbies game and as you all know milestone games go, we ended up losing. Furies beat us in the midfield where we normally have been so dominant. We still managed to have multiple goal kickers and kept the score respectable. Rodney was arguably best on ground with 22 disposals and 2 goals. eDPS continued their tremendous start to the season with 27 disposals and 9 marks. Riviat got 22 disposals and 6 marks even though the coach shafted him to the bench on multiple occasions. Goose had another good game (as usual) netting 20 disposals and a goal. Supercheapgiants rounds out the top 5 with what could've been a monster game, with 15 disposals, 1 goal and 4 behinds.
