Posting down this week against a less chatty opponent in the Bears. Positives were the skipper still posted up a storm alongside season best numbers and quality from Brick Loosener and Rodney Dangerfield. And now for something statty to finish:

Barrybran is closing in on his 200th Sweet FA goal with the tally currently sitting at 197. When this happens, Baz will be in the top 100 goal scorers in the history of the league.
Catsnlakers is 20 away from 500 career disposals.
CatToTheFuture averages an impressive 2.36 frees for a match. For all players, this is the 101st highest average. GWS Goose though leads the club in this stat sitting 77th all time- those umps must love the marathon anecdotes.
Brick loosener has moved to tenth all time on the list of Gumbies dream team aggregates.

Hey Gumbies, just letting you know that I’m off overseas for a month so won’t be able to contribute as much on the SFA forums.

May be able to post here or there a bit, but hopefully I’ll still be allowed to ~~adequately contribute~~ dominate on the qooty field if selected

Three in a row and not looking back

After falling to the Old Boys in round 1, we have managed to completely turn our season around in the last 3 weeks with 3 wins in a row. We were defending home turf this week against the Wonders who came into this game with only 1 win, having lost their last 2. It was a fiery contest at the start with 3 goals each in the first quarter and neither team giving an inch. The second quarter was more open with the Wonders getting most of the ball and kicking 4 goals to 2. We went into half-time behind by 9 points, but we knew we had the edge to win it.

The third quarter was all ours, smashing them all over the ground and kicking 8 goals to their 1. It was a dominant display of a team that knows just how to turn it on at the right time. We eased up at the end letting Wonders back in during the fourth quarter, but still won by 25 points to move us further up the ladder.

Brick Loosener has continued his tremendous BnF form from last season and amassed 107 DT points from 24 disposals, 7 marks and 3 goals (Brick is now 3rd overall for disposals and DT points this season)
Barrybran had another great full forward game with 5 goals (closing the gap to 1st place in the FRED, now Baz is only 1 goal behind the big cat)
GWS Goose was our top tackling machine wrapping up the opposition 8 times along with gathering 16 disposals
CatToTheFuture had another 10+ hitout game also getting 17 disposals and 6 tackles
Rodney Dangerfield was our top disposal getter on the day with 27 disposals
The Foolback was our top defender for the game, gathering 17 disposals and 2 marks
Supercheapgiants had their best game this season at centre half-forward with 16 disposals and 1 goal
NSWCROW moved into the forward pocket during the game and kicked a goal while Dory_77 got sent to the backline only to spoil Barry's fun at the very end of the game when Dory moved to FF with 10 minutes to go
Catsnlakers got 21 disposals and 7 marks at half-forward to continue his good start to the season
I also continued my great start to the season with 24 disposals and 2 goals (currently 2nd overall in disposals and DT points)

Time on ground:

bone2468 got pulled from the ground after just 17 minutes and wasn't seen since. Hopefully bone can get a full game next week.
StFly had just 55% ToG
BlueE and miggs both had 63% ToG for the game

Another good win sees us move all the way up to 2nd on the ladder.

Posting numbers experienced an uptick this week and most pleasingly 16 Gumbies posted, 10 of whom posted ten times or more. Hats off to miggs, Dory_77, Sky and StFly who all posted season best numbers. Next up we have the Sin City Swamprats which means both philreich and I in the same thread so expect the puns and Dad joke count to be rather high.

And now for something statty:

This weekend, miggs will become one of 144 users to play 200 games. Congrats miggs!
Barrybran now sits 93rd on the all-time goalscorer's list having crashed through the 200 mark.
beez has the ninth most marks in league history averaging 3.1 a match.
Brick Loosener sits on 499 career marks, which sits fifth in Gumbies history.
Rodney Dangerfield needs 2 more goals to become just the second Gumby to 250 goals for the club.

Comebacks were in style this weekend

We travelled to Sin City in an attempt to win our 4th game in a row and give us a chance to be top of the ladder after 5 rounds. We got off to a good start with Supercheapgiants kicking a goal in the first 2 minutes then another just after the 10 minute mark. Barrybran got our 3rd, before miggs slotted his first in game 200 right on the quarter time siren. At quarter time we were up by 15 points and looking in good form, but then we started to fall apart.

The second quarter was dominated by the Swamprats as they kicked 5 goals in a row and looked to be walking all over us. miggs popped his head out once again just before half-time to kick his second goal and give us some hope. The third quarter was very back and forth with StFly kicking a goal at the 5 minute mark to bring the game back to single figures, then Sin City kicking 3 in a row to break away again. We started getting more of the ball in the last 10 minutes and through goals by myself, StFly and Barrybran once again, we went into the final break just 13 points behind.

The final quarter was where we showed our true strength. We piled on 6 goals while keeping the Swamprats to just a single goal for the whole quarter. We managed to reach 100 points in the rain to finish as 21 point victors and keep our win streak alive.

Rodney Dangerfield was arguably best on ground with 27 disposals and 11 marks on the wing. Rodney is 2nd in the league for disposals this season.
Brick Loosener on the opposite wing also played very well with 23 disposals and 7 marks. Brick is 1st for the league in disposals this season.
Barrybran kicked 6 goals and has jumped into 1st place for the FRED medal this season with 27 goals from the first 5 games
miggs in his 200th kicked 3 goals from the forward pocket off just 3 kicks
Supercheapgiants had a great game at centre-half forward with 17 disposals, 6 marks and 3 goals
StFly sneaked forward during the game to kick 2 goals from 17 disposals and 5 marks
CatToTheFuture was dominant in the ruck with 17 hitouts while keeping the Swamprats ruck to just 9 hitouts
GWS Goose tackled well in the wet with 5 tackles and 4 frees for on the day
rye was our best defender with 14 disposals and 6 marks

Time on ground:

Catsnlakers only had 53% ToG for their game against their old side
bone2468 had only 65% ToG
beez was hard done by in the midfield with only 66% ToG

Overall it was a much more even interchange turnover than previous games.

The great comeback win sees us move into 1st on the ladder

The second quarter was dominated by the Swamprats as they kicked 5 goals in a row and looked to be walking all over us. miggs popped his head out once again just before half-time to kick his second goal and give us some hope. The third quarter was very back and forth with StFly kicking a goal at the 5 minute mark to bring the game back to single figures, then Sin City kicking 3 in a row to break away again. We started getting more of the ball in the last 10 minutes and through goals by myself, StFly and Barrybran once again, we went into the final break just 13 points behind.

The final quarter was where we showed our true strength. We piled on 6 goals while keeping the Swamprats to just a single goal for the whole quarter. We managed to reach 100 points in the rain to finish as 21 point victors and keep our win streak alive.

Rodney Dangerfield was arguably best on ground with 27 disposals and 11 marks on the wing. Rodney is 2nd in the league for disposals this season.

Brick Loosener on the opposite wing also played very well with 23 disposals and 7 marks. Brick is 1st for the league in disposals this season.

Barrybran kicked 6 goals and has jumped into 1st place for the FRED medal this season with 27 goals from the first 5 games

miggs in his 200th kicked 3 goals from the forward pocket off just 3 kicks

Supercheapgiants had a great game at centre-half forward with 17 disposals, 6 marks and 3 goals

StFly sneaked forward during the game to kick 2 goals from 17 disposals and 5 marks

CatToTheFuture was dominant in the ruck with 17 hitouts while keeping the Swamprats ruck to just 9 hitouts

GWS Goose tackled well in the wet with 5 tackles and 4 frees for on the day

rye was our best defender with 14 disposals and 6 marks

Time on ground:

Catsnlakers only had 53% ToG for their game against their old side

bone2468 had only 65% ToG

beez was hard done by in the midfield with only 66% ToG

Overall it was a much more even interchange turnover than previous games.

The great comeback win sees us move into 1st on the ladder
