Gumby to Freo

Gumby actually showed decent signs this year Essendon should try to keep him because you would not wnat him to go over to Freo and start playing good footy

This, his best is scary good. THEM DUKES.

If you mean risk sticking with him given his potential to never really get on the park long term or give him up with the potential to be a good to excellent CHF I'd rather we risk that he'll never come good while keeping him on our list. Personally the loss of him never getting it together is dwarfed by the potential returns of a CHF 197cm tall, great set of hands and reputed to have had similar running capacity to Reiwolt as a junior.

So let him fail at our club, if his body is going to fail.
That's why he ows u somethin ;)

If we think his injuries can be managed then I'd give him a go. Kepler is a hunchback but seems to get out there consistently.

The latest rumours are Gumbleton to Melbourne (Just ahead of freo) and Hansen to Fremantle.

Not sure if Gumby prefers Melbourne over perth, or the contract was better, we will have to wait and see.

I would have thought Gumbleton is worth a one year deal no matter where he goes. Way too much risk he will throw out his back and miss a season.

Dont want Hansen to leave North but I would have thought Freo would prefer him. Only 24 and really starting to come good. He also plays out a full season without needing time off for soreness

Too move clubs he has to be offered more than Essendon currently have on the table. Like Monfries and a 4 year contract - Essendon were never going to give him 4. Gumby comes at a risk but if he gets 500k for 3 years it is not a lot out of a 27 million dollar salary cap. If he come good then that is a massive bargin - if he fails then no damage done.

I think you may have Jason Laycock who retired and went back to Tasmania with Kepler Bradley.

As for Laycock. We definitely didn't pick him up. Dunno who did. Unless that is a clever pun or something that went straight over my head.

Sorry fellas just my idea of humour, he did go back to Tasmania and signed with the Burnie dockers.

Yet essendon aren't willing to offer a 3 year contract... so obviously they don't rate his potential that high.
1 year is more to do with risk of injury and the fact that we have a few other young up and coming guns all in the CHF role. Dont want to be stuck with too many forwards for three years.

What's the latest with salary cap situation at bomber land? In came in Goddard at 800k pa, out went monfries 300k pa (?) Where is the other 500k salary cap coming from? Surely two or more of the below simply just needs to be traded or delisted? Gumby and Reimers seem the most likely IMO. But would be good to get a bomber fan point of view (or even confirm this list is correct?)

Gumbleton
Reimers
Hille
Davey
Dyson,
Lovett-Murray
Slattery

We would only have to get rid of 2 other if we were using 100% of the salary cap but i don't think we would be.

Slattery has already been announced..Gone...Announced last week.....
Your list above contains the one's we will most likely want to keep..The 2 glaring omissions are Prismall and Lonergan....I think it will be those 2 and possibly Dyson...But it seems the doggies may be prepared to pay us what Gumby is worth...As for freo picking him up for nothing in the PSD, will not happen...Also I heard Monfries was on about $400,000....Media reports said Goddard will be getting 725-750 K a year.....Freo offered him 800,000 but he knocked them back..WHOOO HOOOO thanks BrenDON..

Thanks but I thought i read bombers was 4 years for 3.4m =850k a year for Goddard? Monfries 400k is more than I thought as well.

Doggies have pick 41 after Freo unless theyre offering pick 21? if that's the case for Gumby surely is overs and well done to bombers if that goes through.

For me Gumby is a 3rd round pick but have little care if we don't get him. Not trying to troll, just trying to understand how a club can suddenly find 750k a year for a free agent and not lose a player or two.

Was reported in the Age that Godard is on 2.9 Million in total over 4 years...Not sure if it is true or not..
400 was too much for monfries in my eyes...
I would want pick 21 for Gumby or rather keep him at least while Joe Daniher matures...
Please stay big Fella!!!

Ask Carlton, Sydney, Dees, Pies...

McVeigh will also free up some space.

Firstly Essedon wouldn't have been at 100% of the cap...based on the age, experience, results and talent currently on the list I'd say 95%-97% would be far more likely.

Secondly it sounds like BJ is getting around 700K, not 800.

Thirdly (and naturally we're guessing here but...) McVeigh (300-350K), Monfries (approx 350K), and Slattery (prob 220-240ish) have all exited in the last couple of weeks already....which ads up to approx 870-940K by my guesswork.

Obviously some of the younger guys have signed contracts for next year and beyond that will be significantly more than they were on in 2012, so I'd expect to see one or two of Prismall, Lonergan, Dyson and Lovett-Murray go, with the remaining 2 or 3 from that group remaining on fairly modest 1 year deals.

I don't think the dons have any dramas fitting our list into the cap for another year or two.

The mods are not stupid - go and see when this thread turned to crap. It started with one of your own.

No one said they were stupid.... Oh hang on, you did. And then apparently changed your mind. Hurry up and sign with someone Scott; before Mufassa has a melt down.

Horse racing and other non-related topics can be discussed elsewhere.

Back on the topic of Gumbleton and/or Fremantle, or prepare to be carded.

If you want to stir and wind up people, head to Bay13.

Essendon still have reasonable cap room considering we're after Young, too.

They want to keep Gumby (one year) but the fringe smalls (Priz, Lonergan etc) are in massive trouble.
