Absolutely they are the type of players you need. Thats why it was a good and fair deal. Shaw will be good for the Giants. As for playing them next year, dont start pretending theres suddenly a rivalry there. Everybody thinks they are Collingwoods number one rival. Take a number and form an orderly queue.
No rivalry... Just looking forward to Cameron kicking another 7 and dominating all of your talls.

Hindsight's a be-arch

Blind fred could see that the GWS were going to dominate once the stockpile of kids that they hoarded matured. The GWS didn't give a shit that they were getting destroyed in the first couple of years of their existence, the AFL was going to prop them up irrespective of their results and it just meant more top picks.......

The GWS?

Settle down Gerard Healey.

And the "stockpile" you speak of...

Would have meant nothing if we couldn't retain the vast majority of them.

Had we not been able to do that, we'd have been a basket case.

But, becuase we held on to, or traded for a higher value our "stockpile" now you guys are as salty as a Salada.

Interestingly, the Suns were able to pick twelve 17 year olds in the year prior to entering the AFL, and now have 5 left.

We picked 10, and now have 3 left (but that includes Cameron and Shiel).

Anyway, yes, we had lots of early draft picks (about 40% of them have already left) - we still had to pick wisely, we still had to assemble a team, keep it together, trade with other clubs, wisely accept their rejects (some of them amongst our very best players) - and when we see how the Suns have turned out (in a much stronger aussie rules area), we see it's not as easy as it looks creating a team from scratch - and we've done nothing yet - we haven't even played finals.

When the day comes that we win three flags in a row like the Hawks have just managed - then everyone can whinge.

That's not what people on one of the many Giants related threads when they were getting flogged weekly were saying.

Shittest team ever. I think was the term.

Then there was all the talk about "you can have all the picks im the world but no culture will see half these kids careers destroyed and the rest run for their home states"

But hey. Everyone knew we would be world beaters.

Kinda like the last election. Everybody said they didnt vote for Abbott. Yet somehow he won.
