So long as neither Hopper nor Kennedy attract a top 2 bid, picks 7 and 8 will have us covered.

Bids at 3 and 4 on that pair would only cost us 7, 8 and the points value of pick 54.

Bids at 4 and 5 would give us loose change from 7 and 8.

I may be wrong, but the rest of the academy players don't seem likely to attract bids that would cost us more than our own round 2+ picks and whatever picks we gain in round 2+ from trades.

It's a moving target with FA compo picks to slot in (and I haven't accounted for the compo that's already been announced), but for example a bid at pick 20 can be matched by our 2nd rounder (currently 26) and a bid at 33 can be matched by our 3rd rounder (44).

No reason to give away one or both top 10 picks, thereby giving a leg up to an opposition club, for the sake of a few points...

Hi guys, apologies for the intrusion. Hopefully this hasn't been asked copious amounts of times - I did do a quick search beforehand but there wasn't much of note. Obviously Hopper and Kennedy are the two standouts and your priorities, but do you also see yourself securing Himmelberg via your academy? He's an intriguing prospect and I'm struggling to get a read on where he may be selected next month. Once again, apologies if this has been asked frequently.

The club hasn't been definitive, but it would appear extremely likely we take him

How many fricken academy players do they think we have? Our academy players are covered for picks with the trading of fringe players that will happen as well as Treloar.

The fact they just gave up their very late round 1 means we get what a round 2 and next years very late round 1. For a contracted kpf?
Yep that would be a great deal.

We won't...
A) he signed an extension
B) his family is moving to Sydney
C) he will learn so much more from Stevie J and be so much a better player as a result.
Well the extension means very little these days, if his family can move across the country I'm sure another smaller move won't b a problem and as far as Stevie j making him a better player ... I agree in theory but if that means keeping him in the twos for another full season I doubt he will be that much better for the experience

I can't see both of them fitting into the forward line .... It's the same spot for mine

I can see us taking nothing but academy players this year - and leaving a few out.

Hopper and Kennedy obviously, Himmleberg and Flynn probably, Couglan and Cornell possibly, Tiziani maybe late or rookie listed.

I know that the dogs are interested in Coughlan - he played some VFL for Footscray, but he also played some NEAFL for us (played on Goodes against the swans in a steep learning curve of a game). So that one will be interesting as to where they bid and where we are at the time with points left.

Your a real ray of sunshine (but thats perhaps a bad word to say at the moment ;) )

But to me the fact he signed an extension and his family is moving over tell me that both him and his family want to make being at the Giants work

SEN just reported a Plowman/Phillips deal for Carlton's third pick. It's SEN so to be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed.
Plowman on his own is probably worth a second rounder, even with Phillips in the deal. Can't help but feel a third for Plowman is undervaluing.
Carlton's 3rd rounder really doesn't seem like enough to bother trading two contracted players. That said, it's more likely this trade happens than other ridiculous 'omg they need academy points' trades.

I was more trying to make the point he will be competing for the forward spot w Stevie j rather than he was gonna leave...

I don't think he will be playing magoos for the whole year - even with Stevie J I can see him getting a couple of games in the seniors.

He might get a couple more elsewhere, but he's no starting 22 for 23 games anywhere. Wherever he goes he'll be playing the majority of the season in the 2nds - might as well be us learning from Stevie J as anywhere else.

I think if anyone should be worried about Stevie J arriving it's Rhys Palmer who has only moved forward in the last couple of years and it's his spot Johnson takes, not Pickett's (mainly because Pickett doesn't have a spot in the seniors yet). I know Palmer is more defensive than Stevie J but if I was looking to drop a forward from our best 22 to fit SJ in, it would be Palmer who I can see playing more NEAFL than ever before.

Trade McCarthy for Neale and a 2016 first round pick. Sick of this whining kid. Who cares if he is contracted or not, he doesn't want to play for us so GET RID OF HIM I SAY!

Gadly.

But wont accept a trade that stuffs us.

I would accept Neale in a straight swap.

Would be tempted by Weller and their 2016 1st
