It is possible for Trent and Brooke to continue their friendship with Mrs Hardwick and the girls whilst being close with Dimma.
Trent and Dimma have a special bond and it's hardly a deal breaker. What Dimma does in his own life is his business.

The issue is that AFL coach is 'kind-of' a public position I think.

If you are politician, you are stepping down from any leadership position in this situation. Like Barney J walking out on his wife and kids for the young staffer, he ruled the Nats like a king but he had to walk in the end. 'failed to uphold the moral standards of the community', walking out on the wife and kids for a young work colleague doesn't cut the mustard. He will be back as Nats leader eventually.

Look at Karl Stefanovic, not in a public position, but a very public job (and highly lucrative for CH9). Nevertheless he also had to walk the plank after he turned his back on his wife and kids for a young woman. (did his penance and is back now, just like Gary Lyon with his sex scandal)

I would put 'AFL coach' somewhere in between 'Politician' and 'prominent TV presenter' in terms of public expectations of behaviour.

I think 'they' will go the club until it is forced to step Dimma down, exactly as happened in the above situations. Same argument, the face of the organisation cannot be associated with 'behaviour that doesnt meet community standards'. Dimma will be back though, once he has done whatever time it takes for the redemption narrative to kick in.

Footy is a high stress, high pressure, high scrutiny role.
Performance is everything.
And they are paid peanuts compared to USA, European sports.

People need to get a grip. They are upset because the feel good story of Mr and Mrs hardwick is over. The reality of life is , that it's not all roses. People break up that's just life. It's quite obvious their relationship was in the rocks for a while and it's quite possible they agreed to separate well before it was made public. Dimma finds a new woman, so what ? Why can't he ? He's single.
This fascination with the private lives of celebs to the point where ppl get triggered and demand sackings is stupid. Two consenting adults having sex , get over it.
And also yes it's very common for two ppl in the same workplace to ****.

See the media are talking about this derailing our season again. Have they learned nothing from Rancegate, Kebabgate, Lynchgate and Bumpokegate.

So two things stand out

1)

It’s understood senior figures have raised concern about the relationship after it was confirmed last month that Hardwick split from wife Danielle, with whom he shares three children.

2)

Danielle Hardwick, who was often referred to affectionately as Mrs Hardwick, is a much loved figure around Tigerland. She and their two daughters spent Christmas morning with the family of Tigers captain Trent Cotchin. Cotchin’s wife Brooke posted a picture of the Hardwick girls with their children calling them “second fam”. On the post Danielle commented: “What a special Christmas morning. Our hearts are full. Love you Cotchins.”

It's not a stretch to infer here that Trent Cotchin, the dedicated family man, is less than impressed with Dimma's conduct. & in the fall-out, they have thrown their support behind Danielle

Really, personal tension between coach & captain spells potential disaster to group harmony

This I think will be the biggest challenge our incredible administration will have to overcome if we are to continue with on-field success

It’s also extremely conceivable that the Cotchin’s are supporting both Danielle and Dimma and like mature adults are not siding or being involved in what is two adults business .
Dimma was probably spending Xmas with his family so they invited Danielle and the kids to spend it with them .
If anything can be learnt from past experiences it should be that the Cotchins are very welcoming of club people / family into their own family .
