WC fans. What do WC need to do/show for him to stay? I've got a feeling WC will collect picks for Barass and hunt Warner this year. Is that the sort of thing that could sway him or is he too far gone?

Several times pre draft.

Would love to play in big Melbourne games and crowds. Mentioned Collingwood, Essendon and Geelong.

Not just "mentioned" Geelong

He was an absolute Cats nuffie and fanatic growing up.

When asked who he was excited to play with at the Eagles he named Tim Kelly and Jamaine Jones. I wonder why? lol

What are you on about? Are you under the assumption Reid wants out or something?

If the writing is on the wall and the precedent is set (JHF), then I'm just wondering what strengthens the stay proposition
He will more than likely extend his initial contract. Hes not JHF who never had any intention of staying out of SA.

Clubs have gotten a lot better at not picking flight risks, its generally well known prior to the draft who the mummies boys are and they dont get drafted by the non vic clubs.
West Coast traded out of pick 2 a couple of years ago just to avoid being put in a position where we had to draft one or make a huge reach.

If we thought Reid was any way like that at all we wouldve split the pick I have no doubt

Seeing a rebuild taking place should be all it takes

Off topic but was good on the Front Bar last night. Been on the back page of the West Australian 91 times this year. His father and Sam Pang came 1/2 in the Tongala best and fairest many years ago. Good interplay with Nic Nat and Benny Cousins who were there.

My guess is that he'll stay provided he can see the team starting to improve.

Preface this thread by saying it's purely here, on a public board for public discussion of Reid's contract developments.

More than likely an extension in some form.

It's more a public discussion place on the terms of the deal, as Harley is a bit of a test case in Australian Sport at the moment for domestic max earning capacity.

He's also a sample case surrounding some of the newer rules and functions around 3 year draftee contracts. I've seen Eagle fans allude to re-draw functions within the 3rd year of a draftee's contract, but I'm yet to see that confirmed anywhere and seems at odds with some of Jon Ralph's recent articles.

He's also a test case of post draft contract, max long term deals and how they might look into the 2030's with more TPP increases and CBA agreements.

Jon Ralph has stated that Reid's management may request up to $2m for his fourth season as compensation (for want of a better word) for loss of earning capacity due to the 3rd year, for a 1 year extension. Interesting if this becomes the norm for bigger name draftees.

Ralph has also stated that $18m x 10 year offers could be tabled by Victorian clubs, with him raising Essendon specifically as the most interested.

I'm old enough to remember when Leigh Matthews was the first player in $1,000 per game, it didn't compute.

I remember Alastair Lynch to Brisbane for $1.8m over 10 years and it blew our minds.

$18m over 10 years for Reid and I wouldn''t bat an eyelid.

We'll give you picks 48, 53, 61, 72 and 74 because they're equivalent in points to 3 top 10s and 4 future seconds.
But Geelong weren't even his preference pre-draft.

He wanted to play for a BIG club, not some country ammos setup with a mud pit for a stadium.

Surely he wants to play with the Wiz!
Play with the Wiz eh???
