Not sure about the Maynard comparisons. To me it’s like comparing Reid to Naicos because they’re both talented right foot mids… He looks to me to be more of a Richards/ Murray type with good straight line pace, lateral movement and skills that are a little rough around the edges.

Its the competitiveness and footy brain that will define him, IMO, but you also can’t help being positive about his exposure to elite pathways. That story circulating about him breaking down how we beat Brisbane would have made some on here cringe considering their apathy toward footy analytics. I personally love that and it’ll fit right in with the likes of Pendles, Daicos x2, IQ and Mitchell.

Welcome to the Pies Harry.

Like the look of that left foot kick in those highlights. Can see that being used as a weapon out of the backline cutting back through the middle as we like to do.

Pace and leadership qualities sound good too. Was mooted around the 20 mark by Twomey so seems like we did ok here.

I know we need talls but we can look to fill those needs later or in SSP. We have an aging midfield group with Pendles and Sidey (and losing Adams) needing to be replaced soon so adding HDM to Macrae and Allen coming though I don't mind tbh.

I had Rich vibes immediately as well.
Kicking style and body shape.

...but to balance that (and to point out how irrelevant highlights can be)....i also though he looked a little like Chugg in his highlights off half back.

Albeit Chugg was a super speculative pick.

Looking at the 'strengths' listed on pies site....they would probably be the top 6 or so things we'd look for.
They were:

Competitiveness
Kick penetration
Leadership
Speed
Tackling
Versatility

you could pretty much apply most of these traits to 90% of our playing list !

We clearly have identified the type of player we want based on our culture and style, which IMO makes us far more likely to put together a list as opposed to picking based purely on 'talent'.

I know him as well as anyone else who saw & heard him last night. And there was absolutely nothing to suggest arrogance. Not sure why anyone would want to even suggest it about a young kid we just drafted tbh.
