Was listening to interviews on ABC after the game and Harry said

"We spoke about it after the game and we agreed that the chorus in the second quarter lifted the players some 15 - 20%"

Wasn't at the game myself but well done to all supporters who got stuck in to the cheer.

I managed to capture the moment with my dodgy iPhone cam, but if anybody else has better audio that'd be great!

Sounded brilliant and being in M35 row K was right amongst it. MMM radio commented that it sounded like an EPL soccer game. Fantastic!!

Need to bring that cheer to the GF to support the boys but how do you do that when majority tickets are corporate. S'pose it's the same for both teams thought.

I think we just witnessed one of the greatest supporter backed games in history, only anzac day comes close.

I was there as a netural tonight and was sitting in the pocket next to the Pies cheersquad. Was amazing to hear and see. :thumbsu:

it's the type of chant that can really only work when we're in complete control of a game.

start it in a game that is in the balance and not enough people will join in to make it effective.

It was absolutely awesome in the second quarter, loudest I've ever heard it.

Awesome stuff, we need to bring it out in a big way next week.

Yep, it just came out of no where- it escalated and I was just in awe.
Makes you proud to be part of such a passionate member base.

Is this the future for Collingwood games? Could the chant be sustained for minutes?

I reckon it's a great thing, and I hope it's a big part of our futures. It seems like the support base are pushing it a bit as well, they had it going on the pre-match video courtesy of CTV. The chant's really gathered momentum over the past few years.

that chant was out in 2002 and 2003.

i first heard it in the 2002 prelim

Yeah but it never really made its way past a couple of bays from the cheer squad.
Up at N31 it sounded as if the whole ground took part.

To be honest I never really rated it, but if it can be as prominent as tonight's, I'm all for it! :thumbsu::D

I was sitting in M17, and eventually the Collingwood chant even made it over there, and we all got involved, it was immense.:)

Also, I was 5 seats (to my left) from the Geelong reserved seat section, and they were giving us pies fans shit pre game, but they never made a peep during the game, was hilarious.

It's just a shame the atmosphere will suffer a little next week, with so many corporates and neutrals in the stands.:(

Probably 70,000 Pies supporters all chanting the 'Collllllllingggggwoooooood' was amazing. Atmosphere was unlike anything I'd ever experienced - can't imagine what the Granny will be like!

clearly your memory is faulting u.

in 2002 it was mind boggling. was definitely not restricted to the cheer squad area

That's fantastic hearing that from Harry. The atmosphere in M33 was just electric. I'll sit in the same area at next years prelim (if we get there of course).

Was unbelievable. Very loud chant, I think louder than the 03 prelim chant. Although that was pretty intense, being against an interstate club the crowd was overwhelmingly Collingwood. Although there was a sixth of the stadium missing at that point, so tonight's chant I think would have been louder!

What percentage of the crowd do people think was pro-Collingwood tonight?
At the end of the first quarter, it seemed that at least 90% of the top deck of the southern stand stood to applaud Collingwood's efforts. I'm assuming they were mainly pies fans!
95k at the game, do yuo think 60k would have been Collingwood supporters? If so, that's a huge effort.

Goals kicked in the first by Pendles (on the right foot) and Johno (after weaving his way into the 50) generated some of the loudest cheers I've ever heard at a football game.:)

Swear up and down to God above I started one in '02 GF and in round 22 against the dons in '03.

But yeah, amazing day.

Seriously almost can't believe it's coming around again.

Pinch me.

Go PIES!

when the cats ran out at the start of the game, there was a cheer
when the pies ran out at the start of the game, there was a ROAR

could tell from the start that if we got going, the crowd would play a big role
i sat at the very top of the members and the chant of 'collingwoooood' was amazing
never was a fan of it when it was only a bay going for it, but the whole ground going just made it awesome!

It gave me goosebumps watching it on TV.:thumbsu:

To everyone that is lucky enough to get tickets next week, don't hold back. Cheer for me and every other die hard Collingwood supporter that can't get tickets. It could get them over the line in the end!

No possibly of making the big dance next week D?

How good would it be if all the Pies fans paid the ludicrous amount for the scalpers to generate the same atmosphere- this time even bigger.
Buy the tickets off the corporates, make some noise...
It will be well worth it.

In terms of atmosphere, modern-day Grand Finals are rubbish compared to the prelims. They just don't have the same atmosphere because of all the neutrals / theatre-goers who don't give a crap about either club. I was at both the 2002 and 2003 Grand Finals and remember being bitterly disappointed in the crowd.

The same issue is brought up every year, I realise, but they really should change the way tickets are allocated. I know it's a cash cow but it seriously pisses me off the way so many die-hard supporters -- to whom a victory would mean the absolute world -- miss out so that some well-connected corporate w***er can attend.

My brother-in-law (a Geelong supporter) was telling me that the woman sitting next to him in 2009 was so disinterested in the game she actually fell asleep! Imagine being a passionate supporter, attending every game for years and years, and missing out on seeing your team win the Grand Final because of some self-centred theatre-goer who just happens to have the right connections ... it's just not right. Really ruins the atmosphere, too ...

I gotta admit it sounded awesome. 'See the barrackers are shouting'... I like how Pies supporters are vocal, it must make the hair stand up on the back of your neck hearing that if you're out on the park
