Could be construed as the equivalent of as little as 7 to 15 thousand people turning up to a VFL game? No?
No. Think about how many people live in the suburbs that a VFL team represents and work out what percentage of those go to their local teams game. I reckon that percentage would be dwarfed by the percentages of these college football games. Truly community affairs.

In the 1950 world cup Brazil played in front of 140,000 then139,000 then 153,000 then 174,000 in 4 consectutive games. So no its not a world reord. Not even close.

We do not over-rate Collingwood attendances.

Collingwood averaged the second highest attendance of any professional football team in the world last year.

Behind only Manchester United.

Surely NFL teams like Dallas and Washington who have home grounds that fit 90 000 and sell out every week would be higher?

This rather sadly points out how far behind Collingwood is on the world stage. Colingwood get to play in the 100,000 capacity MCG most weeks. Old Trafford by comparison seats only 3/4 of that and Manu plays 50% of its matches at grounds of often much smaller capacity's such as Bloomfield Road - capacity 16,000.

In the NFL alone for their last complete season (2009), 27 off the 32 teams averaged more than Collingwood did for 2010.

In the 2010 season to date, 25 of their 32 teams are averaging more than Collingwood did for 2010.

ManU's figure is for home attendences.

From European soccer, ManU, Barcelona and Real Madrid are definitly ahead of Collingwood. I'd suspect that Arsenal is about the same as Collingwood as well.

Remember in Soccer, a lot of these teams play League Cup games which not many people attend. It is a total average attendance figure at their home stadium.

Geez, he was only out by 1500 and he's been red-carded, harsh
He was out by 1744+, which means you were out by 244+ in defending him.

Enjoy your red card. ;)

Do Grand Prix teams count?

Most grand prix get well over the 100K - so you could say ferrari, Mclaren etc all average higher than Collingwood.

Barcelona are currently averaging 77K for their 6 home games this season. Celtic are averaging 58K, Manu are averaging 75K, Arsenal 60K, Borussia Dortmund 76K.....

in 2008-2009 4 european clubs averaged more than 70K.

Grand Prix teams can't be counted since a Grand Prix doesn't have a 'home' club.

And 12 teams share the crowd. Would be a little like 100k going to watch an AFL lightning competition with 6 mini matches on the same day.

Per capita Aussie Rules reigns supreme. You are comparing a game comprised largely of teams from the same state. It is a game which is not even the number one sport in large areas of the country and our population is 20 million. The EPL and NFL are truly national comp. with populations of 60 million and 300 million supporting them. The fact that we rate where we do is UNBELIEVABLE!

The NFL and EPL don't have 11 teams from the same district. That would dilute the crowds somewhat. For Collingwood to average 65 000 is breathtaking. Own it and move on.

I love the taste of bitterness in the morning (or evening). We are massive and you are not. I know it stings.
