The answer to that question is yes. The club believes so. If the club views DGB as a 3rd tall long term than he is surplus to our needs as that's 1 area we are stacked in with players who could play that role. The club is investing in Jeka and Blanck to be the pillars back there with Frost and Sicily as 3rd talls. We're does that leave DGB. There's a method to the madness you need to look deeper.
Jeka has played 1 full game as an AFL defender

They are not banking our future defence plans on one game from a recently switched forward

DGB wont be traded

I get this is a hypothetical thread, but its a non conversation

I think we need to be bold and do whatever it takes to get Pick 2 (unless Eagles give to Dees for Jackson)

As for Gryffindor - that's a no from me unless Gunston goes. (Still very confident JG stays)

Phillipou and DGB for pick 2. Thank god some of you aren’t doing our trading!! Knowing our luck we would draft Wardlaw who keeps pinging his hamstrings meanwhile Phillipou becomes the next Bont and best player in this draft class and DGB develops into one of the best key defenders in the league as I expect he will.
To be fair DGB will have to become one of the best key defenders with how sh*t our midfield is because the ball is going to be in our backline a lot

IF we were to trade DGB and pick 6 to get pick 2 then I would also want something else in return.

Either their 2nd rounder (pick 20) thrown back our way, or their future first and we send back something their way (our 2nd or future 2nd)

If WCE want Jackson and are willing to cough up their first pick, (which is what it will take) then that's great for us, as it means they will not take their 1st pick to the draft.

Meaning we should be on the front foot getting involved straight away.

Essentially WCE could get Brockman, Pick 6 & 24 in exchange for Pick 2 and Pick 38

This should work as WCE will end up with - Jackson, Brockman and Pick 24 and they would only loose Pick 6 and 38.

Hawks gain pick 2, Brockman and slide from 24 to 38.

Thats how it should be done and you're not loosing DGB along the way.

We’d be losing Brockman, not gaining him

The same was said about Croad and McPharlin and look how that turned out.

I would say the PSD would be a strong tool when negotiating for Jackson. Just need Jackson to state that he will not play in Melbourne again and willing to sit it out if the Roos pick him up.

So you know this to be fact? Or are you just referring to others here that have mentioned it

Can DGB become a FWD as a third tall?

Sad Arrested Development GIF

Wouldn't that be more equivalent to DGB and Brockman for Pick 2? After all, McPharlin wanted to leave and would have gone PSD so we had no bargaining power and Croad was a close pick to DGB but had played more. We are also talking the difference between pick 1 and 2.

The reality is the price is whatever a club is willing to pay - similar to the price of a house. Depends on how keen we are to get the third best player (given Ashcroft is F/S).

Ok so this pours cold water on any pick upgrade at least with WCE
I am not anywhere near in the camp of lets give up one of our best young assets to jump 4 slots in the draft, however no this doesnt really snuff it out. Simply says that they wont put up pick 2 for Jackson and that they dont want to lose their strong draft hand. The people in the trade for pick 2 camp could still say that trading back to 6 still happy without effecting both statements
