All of my mates said 2008 was a fluke and I used to stick up for the boys cos I thought it was a great effort... now I am starting to wonder.. well, not wonder.. but i KNOW it was just a fluke.. we are a mediocre side who peaked at the right time...

I'm sick to death of hearing the excuses... drop the senior players who are playing like shit.. get the young ones up into senior footy and let's start winning games...I thought 2009 sucked... I really think this year will be worse...

Sorry that my first post on these boards had to be a rant... I'm a passionate supported... but can sometimes be an emotional supporter... I love my hawks... but sometimes they just frustrate the hell out of me...

Stop riding the 2008 season and play like you want to play... do it for the fans... do it for the 50K members.... or else you might find that number not so high in the years to come...

We were never going to win this game from the start. NM came to play, we made far too many mistakes, too many turnovers, too many handballs to players that were surrounded by the opposition.. FGS.. KICK the b....y thing!.
There are 17 games left this season, we would have to win at least, 13 of them to get anywhere near the top eight.
Time to start planning for next year me thinks!!!
Like everyone else, I am sick to death about hearing about our injuries!!
Every team has them..What was wrong with Renouf? I heard he was spewing up before the game..Now, we will probably have a virus go through the team as well.
Roughie,& Hodgey played their heart outs..Cyril was down,Changa was down,I thought that Stratton played well, and SHiels wasn't too bad.
As for the others, ????????????
Aurora is no longer our sanctuary, we should know how to play that ground better than anyone..
I am seriously p..d off at the moment.. Just as well I don't have a cat!!!!

We overcomplicate what should be a really simple game

We over possess the ball dinking it around in the hope we blind our opponents with our overuse of the ball which will then see a miracle parting of bass straight so our players can just walk through the middle.

I think we need to look around the other faces in the coaching box as other than Clarkson none of those guys fill me with any confidence.

I hope those players feel as gutted as we do - I mean they just have to hit targets two hours a week - that's all. If I missed doing the things I have to do in my job - I'd be out of a job.

For a side that picked blokes who could kick we are clearly doing something to them when they get here as they were, again, horrid.

Bateman needs a spell in the twos, was absolutly terrible today. Ellis can go back with him as well.

Not sure what we have back there to replace them with, but they need a kick up the a$$ for what they have dished up thus far. Not sure what is going on with Bateman, just looks completely out of sorts, considering he was arguably our most crucial player in 2008.

Positives though, Buddy coming in to some sort of form, and actually leading for the ball and getting on his bike.
JKT, Barring the terrible non-give to Hodge, only to get pinged holding the ball, was good overall. Seems to have promise.
Stratton. Looks pretty good. Unlucky I reckon with the late free-kick, but such is life.

So very angry right now. Thought we were a top 4 chance this year, now we are hoping to scrape into the finals
Spot on . You must be reading my mind. Changa absolutely horrible again. This is what you get when there's injuries,no pressure for spots and complacency sets in. I like X but he's been very ordinary so far this year and Ossie isn't far behind him after a promising start first game.

No Excuses....WE ARE PATHETIC!!!

if only we had half the guts and determination that the Dees have shown over the last 4 weeks then I would be a happy man!!

Sick of the excuses, sick of the insipid performances, at the end of the day we fielded 22 fit men out there who are being paid big bucks and not performing!!

I have had enough of this crap!!

At the moment, Richmond are the only club worse than us (anyone who argues otherwise is kidding themselves).
You'd beat us, easily.

Seriously add Mitchell, Burgoyne, Taylor, Renouf, Gibson to the team plus some more game time into Sewell. You guys are top 8 material for sure. It's a long season, things can change pretty quick.

I know how frustrating it is to go from the top to the bottom in a season or two but you're in a lot better position than we were/are.

In the end, we had a Hawthorn Handball Happy first half, and missed easy opportunities when we had the momentum. We have also not kept up with the evolution of the game this year, tackles.

Positives:
Franklin was great, probably could've kicked 6 or 7
Hodge is a champ, as always
Sewell looked good, albeit rusty

Wow. Sounded like a pretty good game from KT.

Makes we wonder though, what are we doing to the kids at the club that they go backwards, whilst a guy out of the blue like this shines. Im sorry to say, as good as he appeared, I cant help but think once he learns the drill, the way we play, he's going to be as bad as the rest of them. Just as I woory the Buddy has been coached out of him, it would be terrible to see the same thing happen to someone like Cyril

What happened to Youngy, I thought was flying at BH. I barely caught mention of his name. Not having a go at him, I just dont trust the broadcast and wonder if something is wrong.

Massive game from Hodge though. I never would have thought he could keep it up. Pretty pleased with his return out of the ruck.

Credit to Roughy for having a crack. Know he's a fish out of water, but hes needed to fill gaps - just as Hodge was called on to do. Was quietly pleased to hear playing across half back at times. Fills me with much more confidence than him marking on the forward line. Given a little bit longer to settle in, Im sure he wouldl do a great job for us.

If the Renouf drama hadn't have popped up, I know I would have been a lot more upset about things. Need some more time for it all to sink in.

Its 2010. who cares what happened it 2008. A fluke? No, we had a team that had courage, hunger and pride. We deserved the 2008 Premiership because in that year, we showed these qualities. One year has no effect on the next. Its a new year and the line starts at zero. Any Richard Crainum that says otherwise needs to ask Collingwood and St.Kilda how EASY it is to fluke a flag. Birchall and Ellis are just two players that have ZERO fire in the belly.

Maybe the "coach" is content to hide behind the injury "excuse" because the real brains of the operation (Viney and Hardwick) have gone and exposed him as a coach.

Would struggle to beat Box Hill or Richmond!

I refuse to say we done and dusted until Sewell, Mitch, Hodge and Burgoyne are all fit and playing consistent footy, Gibson is back playing his role in the defence and all other players fully. We are a capable side - unfortunate events have taken their toll.

I sadly do not think making a couple of changes next week or getting a couple of players back from injury moving forward is going to be enough.
We have rarely played well since the grand final 2oo8 the players and coaching staff have lost the ability to find another gear. If we do manage a win we generally just fall over the line.

The players just do enough to hold a place in the team;We must get rid of the downhill skiers.

Corridor footy and or KICKING= fast movement, and or lots of buddy goals
Handball bullshit and or slow chips round the boundary= flood back of opposition and turnover

at the momment i have nothing but love for MOST of our boys. the ones that played their hearts out.
Hodgey god do i love him.
Cyril, you are a non human freak ily.
Brownie, OMFG that guy does not know the word give up.
Bradly, yay your back, and you played your heart out.
and then there's the twin towers aka Rough and Buddy, both played well today.
and JKT you are my fav recruite.

but seriously wake the f up Clarko, you need a plan b, go make one, or pack your bags, you can go to the effen gc.

Ladson must be dropped their is no question about it, everyone can have a go at me if they want and i dont care, he had one effective kick.

we need a effing second ruckman like now. i dont care if lisle isnt all that good just give the big man a breather.

and lastly i hate that effing green maggot scumbag dog mclaren, i just ARGH can the AFL just wake up and see that he is not up to it.

we played well, no it wasnt good enough in the end, but we did play well.
if we dont win next week we are over, but everyone try to remeber we had 5 loses in 2008, we not out yet, we are almost out, but not yet.

I am bitterly disappointed at the result today. Very upset at the way we have been playing, the intensity seems to just disappear and we can't kick to save our lives.

I just want to say though to anyone who says that the 2008 grand final was a fluke, don't even bother calling yourself a Hawthorn fan because you are a DISGRACE. We played amazingly that season and we were by far the best team throughout the final series, which is really where you need to show up to win the grand final. I am so pissed off at any person who actually has the nerve to call themselves a Hawthorn supporter and say that 2008 was a fluke, you make me sick!

Just to be clear, I am not saying that the fact that we won a grand final in 2008 makes out sh!t effort this year any better, I am not looking at the past and say oh well we won a flag that's good enough. I am as pissed off as the next person at how we are playing and absolutely heartbroken to see us like this. Just feel like shaking them at the moment.

We have the best facilities for a Victorian team ,one of the biggest couple of membership numbers yet 75% of our list is rubbish !,rubbish! ,rubbish!
We have no backmen ,no ruckmen and no KP forwards who can actually mark a ball. The recruits that we just had to have over the offseason are always injured and if our gameplan is to overuse the ball that much without actually kicking it in the direction of our goals then AC thanks for 2008 and Dewy but shut the door on your way out.The Hawthorn team circa 2010 is an absolute disgrace. How many more games did we put our hand up to play at that cold ,windy ,greasy shithole that the Hawthorn fc marketing people try and tell us is our second home ground. We are about as suited to that environment as we would be playing at my son's primary school oval.
It is sad to see us being overcome by a team that are really a bunch of bums in the scheme of things and have as much chance of playing in the finals as we have i.e none at all.2010 is well and truely gone. How did we get it so wrong?

Yeah i aint taking injuries as an excuse anymore. There are blokes itching to be picked over players meerly in the side for their experience. Drop some in a big game against Essendon. If you dont want to show up against a pack of no good cu**s like them then you are in the wrong sport and can go off to the ressies and waste the rest of the season.
That for me will be the true indicator of who want to be there this season and who doesnt. As i said earlier, i wont give this season away. I think we should be 4-1 or at least 3-2 but our last qr's have been terrible.

I know blokes like Cyril, Hodge, Shiels, Brown, Sewell and Mitch if fit will show up against Essendon, but there are a few im not convinced of.

Keep the faith, show some heart and show what this team can do..

OK. if we all sit back and have a think, we'd all realise we were in trouble as soon as Renouf wasn't playing. Destroyed our structure completely. 3 up in the rucking contests like we're having to do would ph uc any team.

I'm shattered.

Too many unsure "first-year" players in our squad, I reckon. Just not consistent enough...the contagion sets in...every player starts fumbling...

This season is turning into a pile of ****.

I am now starting to question the abilities of our entire coaching staff...sad, but true.

Geez I feel for the media guys fronting up to Clarkson in the post match. He'll be on fire!!!

We struggle with one ruckman, make it no ruckmen and no Mitchell and an underdone Sewell its going to look ugly.

Excuses no longer welcome.

We should have won with our team. Talent is there. Play terrible football. Completely play AGAINST our strengths.

I'm still seething, very disappointed in our game plan. The overuse of the ball with handballing really irritates me. The handballing to stationary players drives me mad.

This season is quickly becoming a disaster. Another couple of losses in the next few weeks and we can definetely plan our holidays in September.

I think not playing Lisle over the last couple of weeks has been our downfall. He is tall enough to complete in the Ruck, even if he loses the tap he can make a contest and this would leave Rough in the forward line. Playing Roughy in the ruck just throws our structure out and this third man up idea leaves us one player short when the ball hits the ground.

On a positive, great game by Hodgey and Buddy. Sewell, Lewis, Stratton and Gilham played pretty good games. JKT had a good one, his long kicking was a highlight when everyone was handballing.

A worrying sign for us is the form of Chance and Ossie. Lift guys we need you. Also even though Ellis got it alot his first move is to make a handball which is usually too cute and the receiver isn't expecting it back. Ellis needs to show some more. Youngy had a downer and Guerra is struggling.

It all comes down to the next few weeks, if we lose to the Scum next week then it is all over. It's time for the Hawks to pull their fingers out.
