Autopsy Hawks vs Roos - tear it apart here

Positives:
- Cyril was BOG. That is why anyone who knows anything about footy rates him far ahead of Milne, Betts, Jetta, etc. He doesn't just finish off the good work of others, he literally grabs the game by the balls and wins it for you.
- Lake is the gorilla backman we've been waiting for. Just uses his body so well, and often i thought he was beaten, only for the ball to fall in his lap, or him to get a spoil in at the last second.
- Hill had his best game, Ossie is showing why he is best 22 when fit, Poppy doing the unnoticed things, and Bailey kicked 3!
- Burgoyne is one of the most underrated players going around. All class, and doesn't need it 40 times to have a big impact.
- We were dominated in the ruck, and around the ground, our structures broke down, the umpires reamed us, we had most of our team play bad games, and we were inaccurate as hell, but we still found a way to win. Will give the boys massive confidence.

Negatives
- Cyrils hammy :(
- We got dominated in the ruck, and around the ground. Hopefully it is just a one off.
- Savage needs to go. To get just 1 tackle in over a quarter of footy is unforgivable. The club needs to work out what has changed since 2011, and fix it. He cannot keep getting games as the sub when he has absolutely no impact.
- Lindsay Thomas kicked the most goals. Would rather bloody Thompson kick 5 goals on Buddy from full back than have Thomas the ducking, diving little bitch kick 5.

Is Majak Daw a 6ft blonde women with a massive rack? Because for 7 possessions and 2 marks, you'd think there would have to be some reasons they didn't stop crapping on about him all day. Talk about man crushes. Sheesh!

And Lindsay Thomas, I hope someone gives you something to go down over you gutless little squib!

For all the hype, there seem to be less and less north supporters at games every year

Also it doesnt happen often but they do well against us at the MCG

Best goal of the game was rubbed out.

Pure biomechanics says a diving defender cannot touch a ball going over his head

Depends whether you put it through Gieschen's 'matrix filter' or not.

It's because he is black. No ifs or buts about it. Looks a beast at times but then at other times he looks lost

What a shit match.
Lucky to come away with the points after that umpiring performance. We weren't allowed to touch either the ball or the opposition in the last quarter...bent over from pillar to post. 30-15 frees awarded, ****ing laughable from the maggots tonight.

A rather pathetic display from most of the playing group too I thought.

Got the 4 points though, thank ****!

Terrible footballer is Thomas.

Guerra didn't play a smart game today. He is going to dive every time...let him fall over like the squib he is and just hail a cab. Not that hard.

Buddy kicked no goals today. Which means Thompson will be North supporters new poster boy. It will be on their avatars....like when Mullet ran down Buddy in 1 NAB cup game. About 3 of them used that one chase as their avatar. It's the small things that keep them happy.

No idea how we won that. Shouldn't have, didn't deserve too I think if we're honest. Umpires were far from the only problem.

Only hope is that Cyril's injury is as good as it can be.
We won it by hard nosed fighting just the same as North , difference??? we looked down on form.
North couldn't kick straight , North nearly stole it and if the free to Thomas had have created a situation
that caused us a loss, then they would have not deserved it. Hard luck. We seriously need to gather ourselves up
and play twice as good, to get hold of Sydney. As I said before better knowing now, than in September.

Was sitting right in group d level so had a very skewed view of the game.

- Lake grew as the game went on. Very happy to have him on board, although we didn't have much drive out of defence without Schoey, and Birchall being well held.
- goal kicking makes all the difference! Check out our conversions in our last three games, then look how similar this was to the Geelong game.
- Burger and Bailey everywhere early but north clamped down.
- Buddy had an absolute shocker. I don't mind him having a bad day when he's chasing, leading, shepherding and working hard. This wasn't happening today.
- Missed Sewell badly
- Cyril was brilliant until the hammy. Kind regards to the north fan behind me that cheered the injury, hope he enjoyed the spray I gave him and the applause I got for it.
- Lewis and Ozzie both played well. Ozzie went up 2 gears when it got tough and he took the responsibility to provide a target.
- out forward line has been very mobile the last few weeks, today is was like 3 day old porridge.
- Gunston is copping it on here but I like him playing wing and providing a marking target for the get out kick from the backline
- what the hell was happening in the middle. I I know they won the ruck, but sheeeesh!
- those making the Geelong comparisons need to realise they beat north by four points. I know it's a whole point more than we did, but the view that they are doing everything perfect and we are battling needs to be put into perspective.
- Goal kicking!
- Lindsay Thomas - 3 of the softest frees you would ever see, all rewarded with goals. It was really disgusting. I don't think this guy has ever kept his feet in a contest. And what's the punishment? Goals on a platter.
- couldn't get our groove, but it was never in doubt. I knew we would win.

- we need some youthful exuberance added to the team I think.

We really struggle v North at the G.

I always thought that a win of any sort would be good today. We got that so got to be happy.

Heard Brayshaw yesterday on MMM and you could just tell by his tone that North had really set themselves for today and they performed that way. We embarrassed them last year and really dented their pride. Lucky we got out of it.

Alot of arrogance on here pre match and the same people are here sooking about how bad we were.

These wins early in the season against quality opposition are gold. Bank them up now we will need them later in the year. WC, Geel, North, Syd, Coll twice plus Ess, Carl and Tigs to come. The toughest draw going and now some serious injury.

If we can break even in the next fortnight and get a 5-2 start, we have to be pleased.

Go Hawks.

Brian Lake you star - without Brian we would have lost by 6 goals, defensive pressure, marks, spoils, in and under hand passes made the difference with 48 inside 50,s to 30ish. Bring back Sewel, Anderson as they smashed us in the Clearances! Yeah Yeah had his worst game for the Hawks as well, but he has many tickets in the bank!

I hate losing to you lot!

Even though we outplayed you today we weren't good enough in front of goal.

I was very sorry to see Cyril come off injured, he was in scintillating form and hope he makes a speedy recovery.

I gotta say I loved Scott Thompson giving Buddy a bath.

Good luck for the rest of the season, hopefully we'll meet up in September and we can reverse the result today.

Fack you AFL, cop that one
Yeah. And you can stick these twilight games in your arse AFL. My nerves are totally shot after taking 3 kids (age 3, 5 and 7) to the game. Far too late for a Sunday.

That said, boy were we lucky. Apart from the Roughy goal (which apparently hit the post) the umps did their golden best to keep the roos in the game and almost succeeded.

Lake Gibson Hill Rioli and Osborne were great.
Hodge Lewis Shiels Guerra and Franklin disgusting and all need a rocket. Goo and Hodge played as if they were at Boutique last night. Both made basic error after error.
Clarko has completely ****ed Gunston up as a player and must get his confidence back ASAP. He is a 50 a year goal scorer and we have him chasing kicks on the HB flank.
We are too slow with Rough Hale and Bailey. One must go.

Anderson Sewell and Simpkin in. Mids and run run run needed.
Out-Bailey despite 3 lucky sausage rolls.
Rioli injured
One of Gunston Smith Savage

Nice to get a win today. We always seemed to do enough to keep our noses in front. Good win for win. These are the sorts of wins that get you tops 4s. Play crappy but scrap out a win.

Move on to Adelaide now, get that win under our belts, then set our eyes on to Sydney.

Summed up my thoughts exactly.

As for the north supporter who cheered Cyril's hammy. Was that in M16? If so I was sitting behind him and have him a afl pray also.

Happy we got the four points especially with two tough fixtures to come
