Season defining win for mine.
Under mounting pressure all week and it was the kids who collectively stood up and turned the game. Not everyone standing back waiting for Mitch to put in a superhuman display.

No real standouts just a good even contribution.

Good percentage booster, great effort from the younger players and some players finding form.

Not our best footy but better signs.

Gunston, Bruest and Poppy were all outstanding as were Smith, Lewis, Hartung, Silk, Langers and Shiels.

Duryea is still a worry, however he was the only out of form player who didn't improve.

Very proud of our boys
We didn't do it easy or pretty but
No Hodge No Mitch No Roughy No Chip
5 boys under 10 games including key positions at both ends
Umps giving us a rough second half and even the kids kept their heads up.
Lewis 7 clearances 7 tackles captains goal great example of effort and leadership.
Shiels finally finding some form in the second half and how much better did we look.
TOB best game as a Hawk and hard when it was hot and half his team mates were struggling.
Sicily kept working and big second half
Smith building form
By the end we pretty much drew even in contested and clearances.

Good response tonight, It was a bit of a worry early because Richmond are front runners and are tough to beat when they get their tails up, we were getting smashed at the contest early but we worked into the game and then tore it away in the last quarter, no Hodge, Mitchell, Roughead and Frawley tonight either which are some decent outs, a lot of youth tonight in Lovell, Howe, Brand, O'Brien, Sicily etc which should be recognised also, good win

You mob were always going to win but, gee, fellas, you didn't honestly deserve to win by such a margin.
Anyway. Bugger it.

edit: apart from that, it wasn't a bad game.

Great game for the kids to build their confidence.

I think they looked a bit nervous at the start of the game. Howe took some time to settle in. Once they all settled and the nerves were out it was all smooth sailing (minus a few ****-ups here and there but that's to be expected).

Very impressed with Howe's second quarter and Billy playing himself back into form. His dash across half back was very important today.

TOB I asked for him to grow a pair of aggots before half time and he bloody did. Played like a man possessed in that second quarter. Stats sheet wont show it but he willed himself to contests he had no right to be a part of and helped us find some goals we really shouldn't have got :thumbsu:
