I can feel it in my bones :(

We are playing a ********ty brand of footy.

I must admit, listening to sam on the footy show he made a lot of sense. 3 Hawk players get 105 posessions and record clearances and still get beaten easily. Just doesnt make sense does it??? Something is horribly amiss. You have one of the best forwards in the comp without a doubt in Williams.

I found this one a hard one to tip. The Hawks are playing alright and they're midfield group is working well together. However, I reckon the Bulldogs have a few class players that could snatch it away. I tipped the Bulldogs and I'm guessing they will win by 3-4 goals.

How I yearn for the return of the days where you can be certain Hawthorn will win a game. You can't even be certain we will beat Carlton. WAIT...we didn't beat Carlton!!!!! :(

Can't see it happening.

Last weeks circumstances are highly unlikely to be repeated. For one, we're not playing after a five day turnaround in Perth. Goldspink will not be umpiring and the Bulldogs president is not vermin and did not publically criticise the umpires during the week. Add to that the Telstra Dome should suit our attacking brand of footy which depends on pin point delivery into the forward 50 and I can't see us getting pumped by the dogs.

Will at least be a close game with an excellent midfield clash. Reckon Shooter Williams and Jade Rawlings will prove the difference - both potential matchwinners for Hawthorn this weekend. :D

I think the Bulldogs will win quite easily to be honest, Hawthorn's going nowhere with that gameplan of theirs.

Perhaps Clarkson should get hold of the Carlton blueprint, given how the Blues are setting the competition alight.

Tts funny how when we smashed freo by 50 points in the west, and Melboure by a similiar margin the week before, with Crawford, Mitchell and Hodge all domiating, our game plan was excellent, Clarkson a top coach, and playing exciting footy.

Now after one loss, our game plan stinks, Mitchell and Crawford's possesions are useless, and we are going no where, after one loss coming back from a 6 day turn around from Perth.......

we have no centre half forward.... think about it... mark williams is tiny... you can't bomb it long to him.. He's the leading goal kicker... its BECAUSE of the game plan that we have managed to set him up so many times. I'd prefer to bomb it in quick too with the amount of ball we are winning, but there is no one tall in our forward line capable of taking a mark.

Should be a good match.

Not confident at all with this match, am going to tip the Dogs but with quite a bit of uncertaintity. If we dont play accountable football we will be on the end of the thrashing. The only way I can see your game plan faultering is when the opposition really puts alot of pressure on and lets be honest, that hasnt been one of the Dogs strengths over the past 2-3 years.

Why would you think the hawks would get beat by the dogs, The dogs are a very ordinary football team, untill they get some decent Tall forwards they will be going no where, hawks by 30 plus points

Edit: Thats a bit harsh on the doggies as a team but i mean they have no decent permanent forwards apart from Brad Johnson, They need Rawlings to step up and finally ********ing do somthing

One thing that really s**ts me is when a Richmond supporter says that my team is no good.
I can cop it from a Port fan,a Lions supporter even an Essendon supporter but not from you guys.
You have done nothing for twenty years and you are the reigning wooden spooners.
If I were you I would be thinking about the rest of this season post-Brown and what you will do when Stafford,Richo,Gaspar,Kellaway and Graham all retire over the next 3 years.
As for the Hawks V Dogs match,Everitt will be the key and I am tipping the Hawks by 12 points.
As for talls on the forward line,we are the 4th highest scoring team in the league so an extra tall on the forward line might not equate to any more wins in 2005. Our biggest problem at the moment is that opposition teams are scoring too easily.

Williams isn't a tall forward and is getting the job done, as is johnson.

It will come down to who can deliver to the forwards better and for me the Dogs have that department covered. Dogs by 16 points

if the hawks play like they did from the 5 - 20 minute mark of the last Q against collingwood we'll get pumped by 10 goals and deservedly so ..

worst football i have seen for a long time ..
i can't recall seeing more kicks back and forth across the face of goal in a back 50 for ages ...it was simply terrible ... no way could we have done that and beaten the teams we have this year ..collingwood made us pay and we deserved it ... i had a birds eye view from the stand and was mortified by what i saw..
hopefully we go back to our ways against freo , our best win for some years ..

I don't think we're playing a sh** brand of footy at all. I think Clarko is assessing each game on its merits and devising a gameplan he thinks will be the most effective. Is pretty hard to bang it long every time when your main focal point is 180cms.
Hawks vs Bulldogs will be interesting. Could genuinely go either way, Crawf and Bateman are said to be in doubt which would hurt, but I'll go with the Hawks in a thriller by 8 points.

i said our back 50 .. i didnt mention our delivery into williams ..
last week against collingwood , WHEN KICKING OUT from goal in the last Q , we went back and forth accross the face of goal .. we then eventually coughed it up and collingwood went bang goal ..if you are happy with that style of play then you are a moron .. if clarkson was happy with it then i am very worried .. it cost us the game ... you don't win flags with negative football ..
not saying we'll win a flag this year but i'd rather lose with an attacking brand than a defending one .. ..
its also a very ugly and frustrating brand of football to watch .. my jaw hit the turf from the second tier watching us ... i was embarrassed for the great sides of the eighties who prided themselves on attack ... the machine , thats we were known as , the machine ...

If the Dogs can play THEIR brand of footy instead of chasing tail like they've been doing the last fortnight, then it will be a massacre of biblical preportions.

But it wont be, because the Dogs refuse to play their style whilst still being accountable for the actions of their opposition.

Screw the formguide, just toss a coin and hope it doesnt land edge up.

Sydney game aside, we've been competitive (percentage of 98 indicates that) in all games.

Doubtful if it will be a flogging but we don't play the ground well and there's lingering doubt over Williams (heard Holland to come in for him.. and he plays Coronial worse than anyone I've seen) so.. :(

Will go, will watch, will hope for a win. If it happens, terrific, if not, so long as they keep working to improve that's all I'm asking for 05 and so far, it's been happening.

It could be expressed a little more elegantly, but that sentiment should be tattooed (well, printed, tattooing is a bit too permanent) on the forehead of every tipster this year. I'll be there this afternoon hoping for a win but intrigued to see the new, souped up Hawthorn and to see which Footscray side turns up, the slackers from last week or the desperates from the Adelaide & North games.
