A quick update on where I understand where we stand after today.

Sorry, but Burton now comfortable going to Port. The trade will get done. Current argument over Burton and First or Burton and Second.

Scrimshaw probably done first thing tomorrow.

Scully same but might get held up because of potential of Patton being included. But will get done hopefully tomorrow.

Where Cegs and B.B. play in 2019 will be resolved finally overnight.
Big Boy? Jeez, we'd want to be getting something very very good in return for him.

My issue isnt who replaces Burton.

It's more, I was hoping Burton could be a key player in becoming a midfield/forward hybrid.

I want Chad more though

Remember when we all wanted Jed to be an elite midfielder and the club told him to explore his options....

I think we are seeing the clubs opinion on whether they think Burton can become an elite mid.

So can I ask the question.

Do you want the trade for Wingard or do you want it not to occur if it means losing Burton.

Reluctantly on balance I want Wingard.
If its Burton and a second I feel like we are underpaying.

If its Burton and a first I feel like we are overpaying.

Thanks for update.. how good is my info (from a player) that Cegs is filthy and all but gone? I was told this during week 1 of finals, I would have thought it was more likely he is going in lieu of BB

Without a doubt. Our biggest concern is in the frwd half. Average 54 i50’s a game for a measly 23 scoring shots, not good enough.
Our midfield is quite strong despite people saying otherwise, but they work as hard as any combo in the comp, hence our 5th placing on ladder.
But we’re shit out of depth in there after the starting group of Tom, jaeger and Shiels.
We need mids but we MUST grab Chad who is elite. Wouldn’t touch Patton at 800k though.

I agree and would choose Wingard over burton.
However I don’t agree on 15 + Wingard. That only works if we get a second back - or we do burton plus 2 x second rounders I would be happy with.

Hopefully we can get the Wingard deal done tomorrow so we scan organise our cards for the last day of trading.

Wingard tomorrow

Scully & Scrimshaw + any pick swapping on Wednesday

might be to take out some of the screws
you could probably play with them but longterm might be better without them ????
That is actually what we did with Burton. Was meant to keep the screws and bar in but he wasn't quite right and would get sore so we just took all the metal out and cleaned it up. Was back 10 weeks later and played well enough to debut and get selected for finals in his first season.

I will be pretty disappointed if the club hands over a first with Burton. Wingard will be off the end of next season, Port will get a first round pick compo. If we offer up Burton and a 2nd, they may not like it but the won’t leave the 2nd on the table and at least Burton is a known quantity unlike their compensation pick.

Still can't get my head around why the bombers would want scully, is there any thought going into list building over there or is it just recruit anyone that is an outside player? Utterly bizarre decision making imo he is the last person they need. Dodoro likes to strut around with his chest out but I reckon he would be disliked by the wider fraternity with the way he does business. He is also not as good at recruitment and identifying the right mix as he thinks he is. Hope GWS drag the Shiel deal right out to make the bombers look foolish.

Thanks Topiary.

Any intel on Bombers and Shiel?
Have we played hard ball with GWS and told them we're only taking Patton's salary on if they cancel negotiations with Dodo? :moustache:

No, they've told us that if we take the Scully Patton salary dump they'll revise Shiel's contract to keep him there.

So we can't get him
