Hawks will not go into next season with Pittonet as option 2 on our list.

If Ceglar wants out then I assume we are looking at Casboult as a second ruck option.

Also we don't need 20 pages of BB speculation or value in this thread.
We don't have a club or deal proposed so head on over to the hypotheticals thread please

A quick update on where I understand where we stand after today.

Sorry, but Burton now comfortable going to Port. The trade will get done. Current argument over Burton and First or Burton and Second.

Scrimshaw probably done first thing tomorrow.

Scully same but might get held up because of potential of Patton being included. But will get done hopefully tomorrow.

Where Cegs and B.B. play in 2019 will be resolved finally overnight.

Wowee B.B!

McEvoy being traded. Gee there is some rubbish posted on this site

He hasn't been yet but can you picture a situation where he's been offered something that involves moving to another club for a fantastic opportunity?

You think Patton will be a good chance in becoming a Hawk

You guys are killing me.....|need to know

I have no inside info at all. But i have a few theories on why we might not be willing trade pick 35:

a: We have a player in mind to draft at pick 35 (I bloody hope so)

b. The board have insisted we maintain a pick within first 2 rounds

c. We made a commitment to our recruiting staff re such a pick

d. some of the above....

e. we don't care

I want to know as much as you!

I’ve heard from multiple places and for multiple weeks that Big Boy somehow lands us pick 3. I assume it’s our 2019 1st rounder and Big Boy to GCS for pick 3

This would explain why we killed out of Shiel when GWS wanted 2 first rounders.

This would explain why we offered Burton and pick 15 to get Wingard, and not just 2 first rounders....

Just keep hearing it...::where there is smoke there is fire.....

Quite sure someone with some mail confirmed it was option a - there was a player we’re keen on that we feel will slide to pick 35.

Not necessarily slide that far but has teeth that glow in the dark and an infectious smile.

Well...

A) I don't consider Topiary to be one to give us 99% accurate information then throw a red herring to the media to see where they're getting their news e.g. BB
B) Jon Ceglar is 28 next year and McEvoy is 30. They were pretty level pegging this year, with Cegs really standing up when McEvoy was out.
C) saints wouldn't be stupid enough to give Pick 4 for a 30 year old they traded out for a late first and Savage 4 years ago. Pick 14 from GWS though, hmm.

What an interesting trade period.

Completely at peace with losing Burton now. To quote the mental imp that is Buddy Franklin, it is what it is. I’m not sure he can become an elite midfielder or forward and possibly that’s where the club is at also. In terms of rebounding defenders, Sicily has overtaken him rapidly and has more upside in my opinion. Hardwick is also a 10 year player in his current position. Birchall possible returns next year and hopefully we can get Scrimshaw to best 22 level to take over from Birch some day.

Burton could be elite, no doubt. But now he possibly becomes surplus to requirements. He may also get the desire to head home some day in the future anyway (although all reports say he’s happy at the club) and at least we can sell high now.

This is a high risk strategy but the reward of Wingard is a high one also. Our 2018 side minus Burton but with Wingard would automatically be a better one. Granted Burton has upside, but so does Chad about to hit his prime and coming to work under Clarko who rates him and vice versa.

The only sad part about losing Burton is that he got given the 5, so that’s a little disappointing that we trade him after one season. The upside there is that I think Harry Morrison will be a perfect replacement.
