Sam Weideman, Aaron Francis, Peter Wright, Adam Tomlinson, Harrison Himmelberg, Nick Haynes, Majak Daw and Tom Barrass are all out of contract and fair bit of talent there, also Oscar McDonald is out of contract the following year and might be gettable.

Barrass and Haynes as our backs and Weideman forward would be my dream.
You could put a line through 6-7 of them already.

Melbourne might the side who squeezes out a tall defender....but you’d end up with Sam Frost.

Quite clearly leadership and solidity - two things they are seriously bereft of given their co-captains are now at other clubs.

I believe McEvoy had an exceptional offer in front of him, a superannuation offer and he deserved every single cent of it if he took it, but he didn't.

That's the agenda my friend - nothing less, nothing more - thery wanted to build a side around him, he wanted to stay at Hawthorn.

They just didn't attract any decent players.

They're going to be as bad as their establishment year. Crazy. May, Lynch, KK, Hall gone in the same offseason.

Good fun few weeks here.

Some good rumours and some not so good but all good fun.

My kids have suffered and so has the trouble and strife and my data plan was exceeded a few days back lol

I am happier than a dog with 2 dicks we picked up Chad.

I am off to have em licked :)

LMR.

Thank god that’s all over. I guess il have to get back to work tomorrow!

Thanks to all those with hints, information, ideas etc.
the trade period is bi polar, next year i might have to blow the cobwebs off my old Nokia 3310 to break my big footy iPhone addiction and get something done

Only need one or two to bite the carrot, most likely if we were to trade a key position in they would be in contract. so better of looking at 2020/1 contracts ending. I am pretty hopefully of TOB in defense if he can convert end of season form into the seniors.

What a ride this thread has been, sorry for my bitching and moaning at times people just get caught up in the moment at times. Thanks to all the ITK who give their information as it comes to hand. Overall very happy with our additions this trade period, I think we can all admit that Burto was someone we ideally didn't want to lose but we simply valued getting Chad as more important. All in all I give this trade period 8/10.
Good stuff mate. I know that a lot of what you post is based on emotion.

Keep the faith and have patience. We are Hawthorn and everything we do is based on improving as a football club.

Just a FYI, Big Boy did have an awesome contract sitting in front of him from another club. He was weighing up his decision and ultimately decided he wants to finish his career with the mighty hawks.

I’m not an ITK but I have been told this by someone within the club.

The posters talking pure BS and questioning the guys that give us this info is utter garbage.

Thinking about GW’s comment yesterday re. GWS, maybe we were willing GWS to keep Shiel- to eat up salary cap, so we can go hard for cogs next year and make it harder for gws to match...

Would love to add Coniglio but also we need to really start looking at key forwards and backs for FA period 2019. Frawley and Roughy on their last legs this season.

Ruff keep at it, AND at it. You are so right, so right. GW knows it, Clarko knows it, we all know it.

My only continuing comment. This is a three year minimum project. We know what we have to target. You can’t get them all in one year, but like you I would have liked to see some attempt to appease the KPP stocks.
Thanks for all your great intel this trade period. I think most of us can agree it was a great success.

Wondering what your final take on it all is?

Look I might bore you all in a few days with an opinion, but despite the strong feeling we overpaid for Chad, GW is the BEST.
I am glad, I as a supporter am not represented by morons like Dodoro and the PA DH.
GW is a professional who prides himself on respect, integrity and executing your business with basic honesty and courtesy.
He and the Club know what they are about, they might have a different view of the value of Picks than we do as supporters.

Thanks GD and keep executing the three year plan.

We have a 'Hawthorn have headf***ed everyone' thread and it feels like this thread has headf***ed a few of Hawthorn

Remains to be seen but for mine I feel we are a better side now than before the draft. GL to Jack, Chad & Tom

Yeah I think the problem this trade/FA period was that Richmond beat us to the chase with Lynch, having an agreement in principle as far as two years ago.. after that there was really no key forwards of any quality available..
sounds like GWS weren’t happy to part with Patton, he might be one to look at next off season..
May was probably the only key back worth a trade but Melbourne were able to pay the higher price with their compensation for Hogan...

At the heart of it..if picks and players cancel out on the periphery.
In: Scully and Wingard
Out: Burton + pick 15 and 35

I think we've done very very well. We all know that Scully is going to get back out there and that he is a jet that can cut teams to ribbons.

Lots of love in this thread
TAITA
Thoughts?
Mate - my thoughts are that people are so besotted with winning little individual battles that they lose sight of winning the war.

We have come off one of the most incredible periods of dominance in the history of the game and despite every effort to curb our dominance and drag us back to the average - we have out thought everyone outside the square to be absolutely smoking them.

We missed out on Lynch - fair enough - but have added Mitchell, O'Meara, Wingard & Scully in the last two seasons.

Next year Coniglio is the priority, and we have options.

It's a three year build mate - and frankly, we are winning.

Thanks to Topiary for his intel. He’s clearly the most connected bloke on here. Likewise halfback dasher.

Mods. You’ve been incredible!

My man Abasi. The baddest dog in town, but a ripping fella and loves this club as much as anyone.

As I’ve always said. It’s us against them. The way Clarko likes it :)
