Im comparing it because if Vanders happened to get voted off the board, who then brings the football ops side of things to the board? There is no one else suited to the position that vanders has, so why put him up and risk him getting voted off?
Wouldn’t the person replacing Vanders bring the football ops?
I’m assuming that’s the role up for voting if Vanders wasn’t re-appointed….. football operations

You're making an assumption about who would run if Vanders was up for election. If he was up for election then the opponents may be different and have that expertise. All you are saying at the moment is that diversity on the Board isn't important because "man has skillz, woman not have skillz".

Look, its nice you want to be seen as an fighter for equality.

But i never said women have no skills.

Im pretty sure i made the point earlier that who ever is best for the board should be on the board. If that means all female, great, then thats awesome. If its all men fine. Whatever takes the football club forward in the best way possible is what I want. Never said females had no skills. I'm sure the ladies who are running are incredibly intelligent and would off a hell of a lot to our football club...

So just to be clear once again.
I do not care what the gender make up of the board is, just that the most qualified people for each position is on it. It can be all female for all i care if that is what will propel this club forward in the best possible way.

Also just want to point out that Richie has been on the Board since mid 2016. Many on here are happy to point out our record during that time in regards to the foooty department performance......

TBH I have no idea mate. I just would have guessed that the same people would be running as are now? If that was the case then i'd have no problem with Vanders being put up if there was a suitable alternative.

I'm not saying he's perfect, at all. I think he has done pretty well. But if there was a nominee that could do a better job in his role then awesome, im all for that position being contested. I just didn't know if the only people nominating were those that are now, or, if his role was put up, then more might apply for that position.

If there’s any doubt about who to vote for just think about this.

If Nank was a strong leader he’d tell Jeff to shut the fcuk up.

If he doesn’t have the balls to do that, then he should take his hat back out of the ring & let Gowers run unopposed.

Gowers has my vote

Agree. He clearly doesn't have the stones.

Just reading the financial article on our website, I'm a little confused.

Hawthorn said they got $32m from sale of gaming assets but the age reported months back that we made $40m from those same assets. I understand their are fees and such, but surely the fees for a sale don't equate to 20% of the value?

Anyone able to clarify this for a financial simpleton like myself?

If Jeff updates his current mansion to a bigger, better one, then………………

This is a convenient announcement and a complete about face on the use of the funds from the venue sales. I thought that money was being quarantined as as a safety net while we worked throuhg future revenue model minus gaming $ and also likely tasmanian sponsorship $s.

If this is now not necessary, keen to understand future revenue projections or have we cut expenditure elsewhere. Or is this a reactive decision to demonstrate progress and win a board election.

Also does self funding mean we are giving up on the Vic Govt funds being held? That seems foolish if the case.

From the Age Jake Niall,

Hawthorn, already one of the AFL’s most fiscally powerful clubs, has gained more than $40 million in cash from the sale of their poker machine assets.

The Hawks recently completed the sales of their two pokies venues - WestWaters Hotel in Caroline Springs, and The Gardens at Waverley Gardens in Mulgrave - for what sources familiar with the situation said was about $28 million and just under $20 million respectively.

After debt $40 million cash.

Hawks insiders are running some pre-AGM polls, and it’s fair to say that Gowers has a commanding lead, although we don’t know how many respondents the poll has captured.
