Going to listen to Maria Lui on hawks insiders tomorrow but at least for me Katie Hudson has early running for the third spot on my ballot. I was impressed by her chat with the HI crew
Katie Hudson locked in my vote for her. She was really impressive. I’d encourage everyone to listen to it and make their own decisions. Don’t discount anyone on the board just because they were on with Jeff.
Maria Lui was also great. She’s got another one of my votes, now I just need to decide which of Merlino and Sill don’t. (And I haven’t heard from the last board member yet).

As much as I loved what Merlino and Sill talked about with Member engagement, I can’t reconcile voting for both and Gowers when I think the Boards done a really good job overall.

He would vote independant over Matt Guy Let's be honest. Gowers is more your Turnbull/ Hewsen right winger as opposed to Trump like Kennett.

Kennett used to be fairly moderate though. He was in Peacock’s camp in the 80s and the old intercepted phone call demonstrated how he loathed Howard. He was one of the few Liberals to stand up to Hanson during her rise in the mid-90s also. I remember one time he was in a shopping centre campaigning and so was she so she sought him out. They had a chat and she said ‘well I hope you win’ and he said something to the effect of ‘well I hope you come last’.

I’m with you on Hudson. Gowers is my vote for President with Hudson, Sill and Lui on the board. Andy can find a new VP on the current board - I’m sure Sill could do it.

I don’t think anybody has ever doubted that Katie Hudson is an articulate, well-credentialed board member. Indeed, a few years ago, there was certainly a view from some people connected to the club that she would be a good candidate to succeed our current president. The reasons are self-evident.

My initial views of her were consistent with those now being expressed here. Regrettably, however, she has been wholly complicit in the anti-democratic conduct of the current board and the existing president. She has had the opportunity to push back against this kind of conduct (with the knowledge she would be supported by people both inside and outside the tent) and she hasn’t.

In some respects she is the most disappointing candidate on the ballot. There is no pretense that Dr Pellizer is anything other than a Kennett loyalist. Meanwhile, Hudson could have seized an opportunity to be the agent for change that the club desperately needs, but instead chose to operate as a Kennett enabler, and no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt (in my opinion, anyway).

Nank’s invoking of the already cringeworthy ‘when they go low, we go high’ was genuinely embarrassing when it’s Kennett who is sending out the drunk-sounding Tweets about Gowers and Merlino and the club is using club resources and communication channels to actively campaign against Sill, Merlino and Gowers. Really not sure what he was hoping to gain from that one.

Already Nank embarrassing himself in the media. Gowers on the other hand, is playing it beautifully.

There’s a key question for Nank.

he’s reported as saying he’s a transition president, and only nominated because no one suitable was found by some process.

now there is in fact someone suitable, can Nank elaborate on his intended transition?

we presume Gowers will intend to serve more than one term, which I imagine e is more acceptable to most

which explains the inexplicable ”no one suitable is putting their name forward”. Funny that - why subject yourself to a tirade from basically todays Bruce Ruxton
That's a name I haven't heard in a while! Not an inaccurate comparison though.

Just received and email from the Board.

Jeff is worried I think
A real interesting letter. Really spruiking all the woman Board members and those up for election. Interesting that Lui was mentioned third, probably due to Gowers supporting her.

Also, Ian Silk did not sign the letter.

I know a lot here don’t like Jeff, whether your a left wing lunatic or right wing, liberal or labour. But, I reckon we would be shooting our selves in the foot I’d we vote against the board endorsed people. Like Jeff says, Gowers has offered no improvements or point of difference to the current board, who by the way have got Hawthorn in the best position it has ever been. It just seems a political conflict to be honest. The Hawks for change don’t like Jeff and I believe it would be a huge mistake voting these guys in.

I noted that as well. Although there appear to be 2 sigs above Kennets name and I can't make out the other one. Doesn't look like Silk's
