Respect to Vanders for stepping down if he's displeased with how things turned out. Last thing we need is someone who isn't aligned with the new President at best just taking up a seat and at worst actively working against him.

Hoping Maria Lui takes the open board position. Was widely supported by both camps, she’s both a lawyer and an accountant and an extremely impressive candidate.

I’d be happy with either Maria or Ed on the board.
I wonder if Ed could play some kind of hybrid role as footy director and be the link between Box Hill and the board.

Sill and Lui were both great candidates and I am disappointed that they missed out. However, with Vanders riding off into the sunset, the club will be searching for a new football director. That role is typically held by a former player, and I expect that will be a key qualification for the Nominations Committee when they commence the process of identifying a suitable replacement.

If it's between those three I'd love to get Rocket back in. Contentious figure he may be, he's a proven administrator and someone with a lot of AFL experience that we'll need going forward with a young squad, young coach, fresh board, and a lot of work needed to get us back to greatness.

I voted for Hudson, Lui and Merlino. Though was a toss up between Merlino and Sill. Would have been happy with either. Only one I didn't want getting back in is Pellizer, she left me unimpressed with her comments before hand. She, and the rest of the board, seemed to have the mentality of "We've done great, screw you for suggesting otherwise!". Which I think is exactly why people are happy to see Vanders go.

Actually, perhaps Nick Holland would be good. He's currently the Secretary I think, but given his legal and football background (both aspects we've lost with Nankevill and Vandenberg leaving), he could fill that role well

I know it is petty of me to think this but it would be hilarious to hear Kennett’s reaction if the State Government coughed up the 15 mill this week.
You could sell tickets to the masses who wanted to see the look on his face.

I imagine Vandenberg’s resignation post election will be deemed a casual vacancy and allow the board to appoint someone rather hold another election. If so, the choice will be fascinating. Will it be a “football” director, a lawyer, Maria Lui, Ed Sill or someone from left field.
For what it is worth having a lawyer on the board means they bring that skill set to their deliberations but they will still use a law firm to do any legal work that is required. In many cases the director will also be a partner in that firm.
I am not suggesting anything wrong with that, but merely to point out that having a lawyer on the board does not mean he or she personally does all the club’s legal work.
My bet is that a “ balanced “ board will have a senior lawyer in it’s ranks.

Somehow, people were unhappy and voted for changes. So be it. I woke up this morning determined to stay loyal. The new hierarchy has enormous shoes to fill, but I decided to give them some time to get some runs on the board.

Not even half a day in and we lose another loyal solder in Vanders. There must be a story behind that. I hope Gowers and company kick some goals soon, because this is not a promising start.

Books, most of the things you're speaking about happened in the period where Kennett wasn't president of the club, or are decisions completely separate to those that Kennett would have the scope to make. I don't think it's fair on Gowers that you've attributed 3 additional flags to Kennett after his tenure has ended, yet somehow have dodged giving him the blame for events happening half a day into Gowers' tenure.

If you're going to give them time to get runs on the board, I'd suggest that you give them an opportunity to actually meet once as a board before you start writing them off.
