Only one side has achieved the four peat in the history of the VFL/AFL.

Should the Hawks salute in 2016, they would have a great case to be considered the best team of all time.

How do you rate their chances?

So...get back to us in 2017 after you 5 peat, I guess? :p

Only joking. The Hawks doing very well. Keeping pace with that great Melbourne team in the 50's. You just have to win another 4 Grand Finals in the next 7 years to go one up on them. :D

Depends how their younger players progress, if they improve and not too many injuries can see Hawks winning again.

If they finish top 4 next year they will win it again.

Their struggle will be getting their older bodies through the year while maintaining a top four spot.
Older minds too. That was their downfall a few times in 2015. Tuning in during nothing matches in The middle of the year, seemed to be a bit of a battle at times.

OK, so go ahead and discuss the merits of Collingwood's 4 straight and Melbourne's 5/6...
Who were the players of the time?
Strengths/ weaknesses?
Foes?
Hardships they overcame?
Equalisation in those times?
Anything else you know...
Collingwood had the only ever undefeated in 1929 during the run of 4 in a row and they supplied 3 out of 4 Brownlow medalist in those years.

Yeah I would love a discussion about these great teams in a truly professional era of the sport...

If we win it in 2016 = Fivethorn

Nah Fivethorn sounds stupid.

We've got time to think of something else.

Only Mitchell is likely to retire from that group by the end of next year. Having said this, he will get extremely close to a best and fairest this season. Age is a different ball game in this era of recovery and sports science.

Let's wait and see until FA and trade week ends.. We really need to reenergise the list and if we can manage to do that then we need to be considered. Fairly strong word amongst a lot of people that Aish is shortening by the day, that would be huge for our club as it would ensure we have good elite talent to take over from the oldies.

Howe/Anderson/O'Rourke/Aish/Shiels/Smith/Hill/Hartung would be a brilliant group to develop.

What's that got to do with "Fivethorn" sounding stupid?

interesting. They played 18 rounds back then.. If, hypothetically, the Hawks make it next year they will have played close to an extra season over the 4 years vs teams in the 20's

1) Collingwood had the only ever undefeated in 1929
Twelve-team competition
2) 3 out of 4 Brownlow medalist in those years.
So you had some good midfielders. Also, twelve-team competition.

You've addressed the points very well.

Bring in the challenge rule just for 2012 and we can do it this week.

Possible but unlikely, already the oldest premiership team this year.
