Just like last years thread, whatever Barrett has to say is not Hawthorn in the media.

Couldn’t care less for his shit takes, they don’t belong here.

James Brayshsw said we have been blessed with incredible health and that can’t last. Brian Taylor said we are all huff and puff and it’s all not real and we are no match for the more skillfull teams. Brayshaw implied if North had our health they would be much further up the ladder.
Where was this said?

They are campaigners who make up facts to justify their position. It's fine to be wrong in your predictions because most people are, but it's not okay to make up b.s. like they did with this.

We only play Richmond and North twice.
We played Collingwood and GWS twice.

GWS finished 7th. The fixture is based on ladder position of the year prior. It's really not egrigious that 16th has to play 7th twice. Being that we drew the teams who finished 2-6 once only it's really not that bad.

When do you think was the last time either of those two buffoons watched a game featuring us.
Certainly not on one of Seven's prime time broadcasts because we haven't bloody had any of them.

They absolutely strike me like the Sam Newman type who like to opine on the game but don't watch it outside of games they attend. I remember Newman giving a bizarre tip on the Footy Show many moons back and he let slip that he doesn't watch many games. Another example of the quality punditry we get in our game.

Embarassing.

Mitch ‘Hodgey’ Lewis must be shaking his head. Let alone Blancky and Wingard.

Part of being injury free is having a well conditioned, strong young team, confident in where they need to be and how they need to play. And there is also luck.

Bradshaw can be forgiven for flying the flag for his team, but BT’s take is just funny. 🤪

GWS made the prelim. The draft and draw is based on post finals finishing positions. If the Premier comes from 8th they get pick 1.

Harder draws are actually better if you want to be a genuine contender.

James Brawyshaw is an inept buffoon who tarnishes every sport he touches.

Geoff Lemon lambasted him in an article ages ago re cricket commentary and came up with some of these gems:

James Brayshaw has the emotional depth of a sock puppet during a button shortage.

Brayshaw is the forward marker of the new regime: an AFL commentator who trades in hyperbole and volume and phrases like “big unit”, and calls like a man who’s kept half an eye on cricket in pubs over the years. There are the touchstones: teenage Tendulkar made a Waca Ground hundred, Laxman and Dravid were rather good, Indian batsmen have wrists. But no detail, no effort to learn. Wriddhiman Saha would never have seen the Adelaide Oval, declared Brayshaw, when Saha’s grand total of two career Tests included an Adelaide debut. The most cursory glance at Cricinfo would have done the trick. “Gee, you’re unlucky,” was Slater’s vacant-grinning response. Or later in the series, Brayshaw again: “If you’re the Indian fast bowling coach – I don’t even know who that is, by the way...”

There’s a deliberate idiocy at work here: not just not knowing, but making a point of not knowing, and of telling us he doesn’t know. Consciously or not, this is Brayshaw nudging his audience to say that he doesn’t give a fig about this touring team, that none of us need to, they’re a mere backdrop to Australian glory.

Larkey does an ACL and North don’t win a single game.
Let them keep underrating us.

Fair play - always thought the fixture was based on the ladder not the weighted finish. Still don't think our fixture was that bad this year - but like you I prefer us to do it the hard way.

Best not to engage - Fixturegate posters are more rusted on and conspiratorial than Qanon folk.
Speaking of rusted on, wasn't it you who spent the first half of last week moaning about how we'd just lost any chance of playing finals, regardless of what anybody said about the likely pathways!? ;)

They called the Hawthorn Fremantle game for MMM.

But not at the ground. From the Melbourne studio watching the television in real time.

We only play Richmond and North twice.
We played Collingwood and GWS twice.
When the fixture came out - based on the 2023 positions (which is all they could do obviously), we drew double games against:

Collingwood - 1st
GWS - 7th
Adelaide - 10th
Geelong - 12th
Richmond- 13th
North - 17th

That’s nothing but a lenient outcome.
The AFL may have given us tough games in the first 5 rounds, but overall our fixture has been pretty cruisey over the course of the year.

In essence, you swap Geelong and Collingwood from the above and the anticipated strength of opposition is pretty close to the mark

Brayshaw is right .....North have been decimated this season 😆

GWS made the prelim so were ranked 4th
